    Figuring out mixture ratios is easy - just get a calculator. 128 divided by the ratio you want. 128 divided by 50 equals 2.56 ounces. That, is the amount of oil you will need for a 50:1 ratio. A typical bottle of Stihl or Husqvarna contain about 70 ml of two cycle oil. I run a slightly richer concentration, 80ml for a ratio of about 45:1. I do not trust bottles and measure everything. A 70ml bottle will give you about 2.56 ounces if you rinse out the bottle with gas and pour it back into your gas container.

    At 1:40 you say to run 1-30 instead of the factory recommended mix or 1-20 or 1-25, that is backwards. It's recommended to run more oil during break-in, not less like you recommend.
    The oil mix ratio is dictated more by emissions standards than by the engine manufacturers. Here in the US almost all engines say to run 1-40 or 1-50. In some countries those same engines are labeled to run 1-20 or 1-25. I decide my mix ratio depending on how hard the engine will be run and how good the oil is that I'm using, some get 1-40 and others 1-25.

      I put a little 2-cycle oil in all my gas (400-1) because the ethanol causes corrosion from moisture. Race engines show the aluminum is pitted or dissolved where fuel is dumped into an engine. A tiny film of oil helps prevent rust during storage and is harmless.. Most engines will burn more oil than recommended. I have been using the recommended oil plus 25% Marvels Mystery Oil and not had any problems.

    1 to 40 ratio recommended here. But strangely enough it then emits damn lot of white smoke, stinks like burned oil and stalls on me each time I pull the trigger. Once I lowered the ratio to 1:30 I had no problems anymore. No white smoke, no burned oil stench and no stalling on me again. And the engine doesn't heat up on me either. Runs smooth. Bosh oil here by the way, which is one of the best oils you can find here.

    No problem at all, much more rpm and power

    does anyone know an equation for thinking a mixture? i mixed some 16:1 for a break in and break in is done and the mixture is just to high to get any power out of it and i hate to waste gas

    • @canalsilverbox
      @canalsilverbox  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      mesure how much fuel you have mixed in 16:1 , divide it by 17 and you get the unit to make the new mixture , for example if 5ml is the unit you just multiply 5 x 50 to get the correct ratio for 50:1

    • @Trotters79
      @Trotters79 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only tricky part here is to determine whether 4% is considered the amount of oil in the final mix (4% oil, 96% fuel), or if you simply add 4% oil to 100% fuel. The first is actually 1:24 and the latter is 1:25. The first mixture consists of 4% oil, the second mixture has 4% oil added to the fuel.
      Does it really make a difference if you mix 4 ml oil with 96 ml fuel, or 4 ml oil with 100 ml fuel? No, it does not.
      1:25 is still considered 4% mixing ratio (even though it's roughly 3,846%), 1:50 is still considered 2% mixing ratio (even though it's roughly 1,961%) and 1:100 is still considered 1% mixing ratio (even though it's roughly 0,99%).

    here this is the easy way and listening to this guy is annoying.....if you need a 32 to 1 ratio its 30ML per liter or for 40 to 1 ratio its 25ml oil to 1 liter gas/petrol...and to get 50 - 1 ratio its 20ml per liter of gas......come one simple math...1000 divided by 20 is 50......so 20ml of oil into 1000ml(1L) of gas is 50 to 1...and so on
