You're very smart with your approach to prescribed burning 🔥 You have to treat fire with the appropriate level of respect, or it is guaranteed to sneak up and bite you really hard when you least expect it to!

Glad to see they use pressure washers. More lines for more hands, less water used and high high pressure to push into the fire it self and knock it down. People under estimate professional fire fighting pressure washers

You had water and pumps on hand. Why not wet or at least dampen the grass on the opposite side of the fire guard before ignition? I burn under pine trees in my front yard every couple of years and always rake and soak around everything I don't want to burn. I learned to put my fire out before I light it(wet what I don't want burned) several years ago when I was cutting metal with an acetylene torch. I had wet the ground under my work area but had a blowout that sent sparks outside the wet area. Once I realized the grass was burning I got a water hose and began to spray, no problem, right? Right. Until, while trying to flip a kink out of the hose, I broke the pvc water pipe. That's when the mad scramble started. Now I wet everything around if I have to cut outside my shop. Lol. I know one can never be too careful and have many times postponed my burn due to wind, wind direction and predicted wind issues. I realize tall grass is a different situation altogether though, so I was just curious. Very helpful information here, thank you for taking time to make and post this!

Very good video btw we deal with a lot of landowners and farmers that love using the Bic lawnmower in the spring and fall without establishing proper fire breaks and or consulting with the local fire department.

Bad idea to use the Bic lawnmower impulsively. It can be a very expensive lawnmower!

most roads or highways dont make good fire breaks because i have seen fire jump them and spread quickly!!!!
