- Sven-Goran Eriksson has spoken to Sky News about his cancer diagnosis saying "it came out of nowhere."
The former England manager has pancreatic cancer - with about a year left to live at the "best case" - and the 75-year-old told Niall Paterson he wants to stay as healthy as he can in that time.
He said: "To all of us it was shock because it's nothing which I felt hurt me, nothing, I was fully fit I thought and suddenly bang, there you are, you have cancer. It came like from nowhere."
Eriksson also said he plans to make it to England to watch the Three Lions taking on Brazil on 23 March at Wembley.

At the end of the day we're all going to die sooner or later, for some quicker than they realise. Accepting this is the best way to ensure we enjoy life to the fullest until our number is up. Sven has had a good and relatively long life but yes it must be hard.

Today after leaving at 6.15 am, I took 6 hours of public transport , just missing two trains as they left in front of me on the platform , missing one cost me an hour waiting for the next one , half hour wait for a bus then another for the next bus before reaching my mountain to climb . In a car it would take around two hours to get to that area .It was very steep,and hard going. I have absolutely no complaints . I stood on the top and took time to see beautiful nature in all its glory. The main thing is I can do it , aged 62 and even the last ten years I’ve been relentless traveling and climbing because I totally appreciate I can do it , right here right now. I won’t stop until something stops me. It hasn’t taken a life changing incident like Sven has , but seeing this and my mates brother three days before he died of cancer just fuels my relentlessness even more. Best wishes to him and anyone dealt a bad hand in life .Wealth means nothing without good health . I’m far richer with my health and humble I can do what I do.

@@RazormillerMy step dad had every jab. This time last year he had a stroke and then was diagnosed with agreesive cancer. Turbo cancer to those that have been paying attention. He lasted 4 months in hospital bed. He was perfectly fine before he rolled up his sleeve. I will never ever forgive.
