I've been playing since day 1, and ever since I first cleared moc back in the day I have never struggled with anything in the game, I have the characters I like and I have everything I need to challenge any Gamemode, if you play the game in a smart way there's nothing you can't do, ppl have this weird idea of trying to get every character that releases, when in reality you should choose one or 2 teams you really enjoy and just focus on that, for me in the beginning that was mono quantum, after that I saved for dot team, then went for acheron as I had every single nihility character, then saved for firefly as I basically already had her team ready to go, I got some other characters along the way but never dipped too much into other teams and archetypes as it's just not worth it if your not fully committed to it, when pure fiction released I was completely unprepared but then I leveled up my erudition characters, learned how to play herta and himeko, and boom cleared it, didn't need argenti or other limited 5* dps, for apocaliptic shadow it's the first time I tackle a new Gamemode with my teams fully built, and it was a breeze, acheron team and firefly team just steam rolled it, simulated universe stuff has always been extremely easy to clear, there's 500 different strategies you can use, lots of them with 4* only, I get that majority of players are casual but man if you just stop and think, plan your pulls etc, you will be able to get everything done with little to no effort, even with bad relics, the whole talk about Powercreep shouldn't exist, the only thing this game has is that newer characters have a higher pull value, but that doesn't mean older ones are useless, my advice is build your 2 favorite team archetypes and then just go for fan service, or a new archetype that you may enjoy
If there's no powercreep, then pulling Seele vs pulling Acheron holds the same value then, both being the main dps in their respective comps. While yes the game has been going into more specific archetypes of composition building (break, dot, fua, class specific, element specific, etc), that actually doesn't really negate that powercreep isn't happening.

I really feel like Teccy was able to brute force everything for so long with Jingliu and then Acheron and then got so invested in WuWa that he never paid attention to the game changing and learned other ways to play then just click button and ice girl does damage. Knowing how to play, how to build teams (which helps you create more unique teams as well) and vertically investing in your characters makes power creep way less relevant

Yeah only one little problem. People with cracked FF and Boothill dont give a sht about minions and summons, they target artgenti and kill him in seconds anyway. Or kill summons in one e And people with more of a f2p accounts often cant deal enough damage for various reasons fast enough to kill those resulting in argenti swallowing them and buffing himself which also leads to many trying to target him first anyway. It's the classic cycle of Tectone losing interest in a game therefore blaming the game for alleged issues, when really it's just him not giving a damn. Now, I think there is a level of powercreep in HSR... but it's fine. I'm glad there is some powercreep: imagine if 14 months after release Seele still were the best DPS in the game. The meta stagnancy would have made everyone go away because of boredom.
Honestly yeah. The only powercreep I’ve seen is in sustain. Aventurine is just so much better and does more things than huo huo, who already powercrept loucha. But this seems more like an exception. I will say, the definition of powercreep we’ve been using doesn’t take into account builds or other available characters. It will be easier to clear with Acheron than Seele but you can still clear with Seele, that doesn’t mean no powercreep though. I think there is some elements of power creep(Dhil released and became the best, Jingliu did similar damage but easier, Acheron did more than both, then firefly does similar damage but not in one burst aka more potential to do more damage) that is powercreep.
I'd much rather have an ever-changing meta than a meta that's just stuck with one character at the top (cough Neuvillette cough). It's honestly great that HSR meta is not just stuck with standard hypercarry.

@@dante19890 Powercreep is in the foundation of any live service game whenever is a gacha or a MMO, it is bound to happen at any time, but in HSR it is yet to happen, and even if it happens, you just have to stop pull for wife/husband and start pull for meta, and regein to stability to clear the endgame and then start pulling for wife/husband characters again.

Thx god someone sane in this community. Tbh, you were the one who actually got me interested in playing HSR when the game released. By the time i had beef with Hoyo cuz of Genshin. I was ignoring HSR really hard, also, most content creators were saying a bunch of generic shit we see in the beginning of every new gacha (Like Tectone is doing with WuWa.) But you, Iyo, you were always the most sane one for me, you gave really good and realistic advices for F2P and new players, so they won't commit any big mistake to mess the account progression and stuff... That really lit it up for me to try HSR... now, here i am, i'm in love HSR as a F2P. Being F2P is a choice, and with that choice comes the understanding that i won't be getting every single character and LC. I gotta understand how the game works properly, so i can grab my favorite characters and fit them correctly into teams they will work. I like Tectone, i follow his content for ages now. But i couldn't for fuckn sake agree with his opinions because they are like a gigantic dumptruck of pure shit. He doesn't even try and blame the game for that. The worst part is that a lot of people agree with him because they are just as casual... if you are casual, open your hecking wallet and grab your E6s/S5s and play on Auto. Now if you want to actually play the game, you GOTTA understand what you are doing and how the mechanics work. I feel like you're missing the point of what power creep is, no? Power creep doesn't mean that old characters aren't able to clear content, but that newer characters can do it easier. Let's say you need 500k damage to kill something (arbitrary number) and Seele does 600k, then she can clear that content, but Acheron does 800k. Sure, your Seele can clear it, but Acheron takes less time to do it. Is that relevant? Not really as long as you get it done within 10 cycles who cares. Is Acheron objectively stronger than Seele? I think so, yes. Also as a E0S0 Seele enjoyer without Silver Wolf, you're capping. She's unplayable against enemies that aren't quantum weak. But you included Silver Wolf in your must pulls so I think it's fair game to rate her as a good dps, if that's your perspective.
Its all about supports at the end of the day even arlan can 0 cycle if you have premium supports. Old characters will simply suffer if they don't have premium supports right now and are off element.

@@dante19890 personally i dont think blade fell off because of other units being better but moreso because blade needed a particular set of comp that hoyo just really didn't helped with, blade is kinda of a mess being the only dps that genuinely needs a lot of hp and also that needs to be attacked in order to maximize damage, thats just odd by itself and no other character really works that way and they didnt really made any relics or lc or anything of the sort that helped on that, meanwhile look at break effect characters (not counting the newest like firefly and boothill) that are thriving right now like xueyi or characters that werent even normally built on break effect but are now like himeko or even sampo that have been finding great success *because* hoyo has been pivoting so hard into making more break effect stuff that works on everyone hoyo just released blade, gave him a relic set and then completely ditched him and didnt built anything around him at all, of course he was gonna fall off

Powercreep is a thing. Although not as extreme, the best way to see it is looking at power budget and damage requirements. The power budget of characters in 1.0 is VASTLY lower than of 2.3, while the damage required to 36 star MOC has skyrocketed. The first ever 12 floor MOC had final boss health pools of 643k and ~1m, while the current MOC has 2.6m and 1.2m
People just don't want to invest in their characters. I see so many "what team should I make", "I can't beat Aventurine/Sunday story, help", etc posts on reddit, and then I see the teams and builds and I scratch my head. All the limited DPS units, 0 sustain units, or they only have Fu Xuan. Level 60 characters, traces at level 3-4, relics from random sets without being enhanced. STOP SLEEPING ON THE 4*. THEY CAN CARRY HARD IF YOU INVEST!
They then went on and blame the game, and blame the player base for not allowing them to play the team they "like" when the team they like suck absolutely Doo doo
I usually see a trend that people *don't read* hsr is pretty strategy heavy, Especially in equilibrium 5 above. Brute force can't work, you have to read what they do and more importantly what your characters do. If you read these two things, you can complete most of the content in the game(maybe not the last stages of MoC or PF)

Like. This is all true. I think for me the game strayed away from what I wanted it to be. I didn’t pull Silverwolf because I didn’t want a cheatcode character. I didn’t want to be faced with a battle and say to myself just use the quantum team because Silverwolf implants quantum weakness and Seele destroys them. I wanted to be faced with the weaknesses the enemy had and then have to think to myself ‘ok, how do I put together a team that covers those weaknesses?’ I was never really into Hypercarry but I think the way of thinking there is probably similar. See what the weakness is and bring a main dps to counter that weakness. And to do this you need horizontal investment because you need a dps to cover each weakness type and you need the support characters that are good to support them. I pulled Kafka in order to make a DoT team which I loved. If a fight had lightning weakness I’d break out the DoT team, and I could swap out sub-dps for whatever other weaknesses were present, Kafka/Sampo, Kafka/Luca, Kafka/Guin. But then I got Ruan Mei and Black Swan and now the DoT team is pretty much what I didn’t want to happen. The DoT team is always the same now Kafka/Black Swan/Ruan Mei, if a fight has lightning weakness bring DoT team, if a fight has wind weakness bring exactly the same DoT team. I pulled Ruan Mei because I really liked the idea of a break team and she was so enticing with her Break Efficency buff. And what could match what I wanted better than a break team where you had to match weaknesss types to break toughness? But now I have Firefly, she just gives fire weakness to everyone so she can break them regardless of their original element. So if I want to use break team it doesn’t really seem that important what the enemy weaknesses are. So I have a DoT team and a break team that no longer really embody what I wanted them to be. The game has changed as time went on but not in the direction I hoped. Though I’m not totally sure if it’s better this way or not. Though if I want to use the DoT team and the Break team I have the tricky decision of who gets Ruan Mei (I failed to pull Robin who might have substituted for Ruan Mei on DoT team).
I mean there's still type Res though, as most bosses have a 20%-50% DMG resistance to elements they weren't originally weak to, neither Firefly nor Boothill takes away this resistance, only Silver wolf does it, but it's by 20%.
Your definition of power creep is just incredibly harsh, it definitely exists but obv not bad enough where you have to pull for a character every patch. Just look at where all the older units are situated on the tier list (with Kafka being the only real outlier). Power creep isn't bad as long as it's not excessive. Also consider how many characters you mentioned in your examples section.... who can afford to build 30 different characters? I've been farming relics for Acheron since she came out, mainly because I have to take 4-day breaks to upgrade other characters as I build out my teams. Maybe the argument could be better framed around how necessary light cones are? Either way, you can objectively see how newer characters are more powerful than the older ones, which is the definition of power creep...

With all due respect i disagree furthermore when you made a free2play account at 2.0 it is way different from people who already burned their resources and stellar jade building their team back in 1.0 what makes you think people are suddenly aware Acheron or Firefly is gonna be a thing in 2.0? I built my Quantum team as hard as i can and my Seele literally has the highest Crit ratio than all of my other characters and my underbuilt acheron with not lightcone out performs her even with 2 defensive characters and 1 support while my Seele team cannot do things regardless of how i built her for Apocalyptic shadow with Bronya Sparkle team Mono quantum Sparkle with 2 defensive units ruan mei you get the idea maybe if i have gotten Fu xuan sure but Fu xuan does not fix the issue on my Seele not being able to clear even just the first stage of Cocolia fight before action value runs out while Acheron can THE INVESTMENT on the past is not as good as the Investment in the present which what makes it an apparent power creep
You literally just need to break cocolia twice and the fight's over, since Seele overkills her by a lot when that happens. If you're struggling with that your issue isn't Seele, but her team and yes Fu xuan would help because she has an offensive ult to break with and doesn't need to use skill as much as Lynx (who despite how much people glazed her is one of the worst sustainers in the game)
Not factoring how they are massively higher speed and Gepard casting shield turn 2 forcing you to break him instead of cocolia which later on turns into cocolia spamming freeze. the issue if i use 1 healer cocolia would just end the fight turn 1 if i use defender it wouldn't last until the 2nd fight if i use both and only have silverwolf their toughness breaking isn't sufficient before gepard starts cycling his shield so you have to break him twice to either kill him or if you aimed cocolia first gepard will have full toughness which i say to you tough luck when he puts up his counter attack to delay you into attacking something else which is the reason the whole things falls apart with action value being limited. Seele is not the problem? sure But if the fact that a unit can perform better than her with a far less optimal team that Seele has that's exactly the definition of power creep which is my gripe as the whole video is literally a mental gymnastic to deny powercreep is not real and instead make a new definition for it that is not what most people are saying when they are saying there is a powercreep in the game
I have a very well invested mono quantum team as well, E0S1 Seele, E0 tutorial light cone SW, Sparkle E0S0 and Fu Xuan E0S1, only buy the welkin and i can clear all content in the game so far not to metion a few patches ago Mono Quantum as the BEST team in the game so if you truly have this team the way u say you do i cannot see how u struggle. PS: a low invested Acheron should not be outdamaging a good invested Seele, damage per screenshot does not = dps
@@uwutm813 it should not but my Acheron can clear Apocalypse with 70pela, silverwolf and gallagher without any dedicated light cone but for mono quantum i need 4 limited and 2 dedicated lightcones can't you see the problem there Fu Xuan would likely help since she can tank and heal compared to just having Lynx which would cause a team of sparkle, SW ,DPS to fall apart.
@@TheGreatJedi 1st Fu Xuan would improve it alot as she is light years ahed of Lynx, 2nd light cones at least for the dps should be a thing you at least attempt to get it sucks its like this but majority of the time signature light cone is way better then the f2p options like Iyo says this is not genshin, 3rd You have the foundation of the mono quantum team you can just keep building on it, sparkle is a clear indicator that they are pushing quantum to be played in a mono setup so its very probable a future solo mono character will release.
I consider myself a casual f2p player but was able to clear all content this time around. I’ve been unlucky pulling sustains but got Jingliu(Sig), Dot team, Break, Acheron(sig). So it’s still possible to have all your favorites while pulling lightcones and I can make my favorites better by pulling their supports or getting their lighcones. Right now I’m saving for another sustain that would help my teams so either Huo Huo or a future sustain for my teams
So I do think power creep exists, just not in an extreme way. Can people still clear hardest content and max rewards without the meta stuff? Yes, I do it all the time. The problem is how it feels. Moc has mechanics that obviously benefit the flavor of the month, but hardly anyone complains. Many feel it's very duable without the exact mechanic abuse meta stuff. But pure fiction...apart from herta and himeko spam, many would argue feels more restrictive and feels necessary to run the meta stuff, which is by design. Again, it's possible to do it without the meta stuff, but boy will it be way more challenging. It's more apparent in that mode than moc according to many people's sentiments online. I can't comment on apocalyptic shadow since I haven't don't it yet. But look, are there characters strictly better versions of others? Yes. That's power creep. Does it matter? I would argue not too much right now, but that's why many see it's starting to head to that direction, which is standard for a lot of gachas. And I won't comment on leaks, but holy hell a character coming soon is straight up 100% power creep of another. It's inevitable. But we will see if it matters or not. Time will tell
@@GodofGoblins Yeah I don’t like this defence by people of “it isn’t powercreep if the older units can still do it”. What matters is the difference in investment, RNG and cycles taken. Sure there are 4 star only clears but like good luck to 99% of players going through the pain of trying to replicate that…being turn based it’s an absolute headache to try runs like this and there is clearly a big difference between the floor and ceilings of units released today compared to last year. Mix that in with how much more niche and overpowered the buffs are getting and yeah people notice a massive difference and it doesn’t feel good for most using the older units and praying for godlike runs versus having fun stomping it more easily with the newer characters.
I think some people’s problems is not knowing how to build teams. Seen insane account that should be able to clear content but they just try to hypercarry everything or randomly put teams together rather than building an actual team like the game is pushing you to do. 7:15 facts, same reason I skipped Acheron and ff.

Maybe he liked Dot so much he blew stuff on BS/Kafka, maybe he got more DHIL, but what a time to pick doing vertical investment when either of these characters are straight boons to any account. Even then, it's ridiculous to hate a fictional character so much you can't make use of them. Powercreep is real in HSR. Robin powercreeps Asta, DHIL powercrept Hook. Acheron powercrept Half the dps in the game. Welt was powercrept by IL and Archeron. Geopard and March were powercrept by Aventurine. Bronya was powercrept by Sparkle. These are facts. Plain and simple. The fact that you dont see 4-star clears anymore, despite the game being out for Barely over a month, tells you everything you need to know. Genshin, till this Day, still has the best powercreep management, and team versatility of all HYV titles. It is actually impressive how well they managed to navigate those waters.
best powercreep management? Like bennet, xingque, xiangling? They killed every 4 star from the start, this is just bad design. 4 years of playing those dumb broken chars. And this is not the only situation here. Venti was slaughtered by kazuha, geo and physical were slaughtered by hoyo, everyone was slaughtered by raiden. Lack of limited supports and a lot of damage dealers are powercreeping each other bring you back to stupidly overtuned holy 6star trio. There was 0 reasons to pull cyno, yoimiya, lyney and bunch more just because some chars were too powerful to compete with.

The same cannot be said of HSR as the game builds its end game around newer characters, with Overlapping mechanics. In the end, while GI focuses on making Likable characters, HSR focuses on making Powerful characters. Take Ruan Mei for instance. Most people agree that she isn't a good person. In fact, she is a Danger to the Universe. And yet, people pull for her because....she is That powerful. Clearing content without her is Incredibly difficult....and that's By Design. As for powercreep in general, 4-stars being powercrept by 5-stars isn't that bad, but in HSR you have literal 5-stars being powercrept by Newer 5-stars. E.g. Blade by Jingliu, Welt by DHIL, DHIL by Jingliu, and Jingliu vs Acheron. Clara by Yunli. It is out of control at this point, and by now, I'd bet that most players in HSR even Care who they pull for, as long as said person is game breaking. e.g....Firefly...who broke the Entire premise of the game's Toughness mechanic. And where do HYV go from here? To even more Ridiculous places, with even More overlapping character mechanics. That's the result of powercreep.

Ruan mei was like kazuha for genshin, a big leap for team building. Now I would say robin is slightly stronger, according to cn community she has less avarage clear cycles than ruan mei, but ruan mei is more versatile by now. Yea, just like in genshin there is powercreep between 5 stars. Diluc was killed by many pyro chars, and it was nearly impossible to 36 abyss with c0 diluc f2p build. You say Blade was powercrept by jingliu, but he has a wind element, not really, it's like saying hutao was supreme to xiao and every person rolling hutao and using in almost every abyss while xiao is struggling. And you know what, blade has similar situation to xiao. He is a 5 star without his dedicated supports. He has very good hp% in his kit, also if there was a good support to give him aggro, he would be in a much better position. (not lynx she struggling to sustain nowadays as 4*) For standart chars it's normal to be powercrept by limited. Look at keqing she like welt had no place in any team until dendro, and then, she was the weakest electro char, but in a good state. Look at the hsr character roster. There is no significuntly bad limited character. Seele is one of the best dps in the game, jing yuan needs good dedicated support for summons (we will get) but he is fine right now, blade in a rough spot but can clear, I will say blade is the worst 5 star dps right now, but still can clear. And the others are in a good spot, they no longer can brute force content that easily, and it's a healthy way to dedicate every character to be useful in certain circumstances. Firefly isn't that broken, it's misinformation by the community, hoyo just flavor newer chars in endgame content right now. She can't ignore fire resistance, she is bad there and it doesn't matter can she break them or not. Acheron yea.. a real kind of powercreep, but it's like raiden, neuvilette or arlecchino you know, just a little bit stronger than others. Now genshin.. I have a lot characters, and I can say, that I can't 36 every abyss with 2 strong dps. There was some abysses where my scaramouche just can't clear in every side. I have c2 ayaka with mistsplitter and she also was very bad in every side of the bad abysses for her. Sometimes my broken itto team who cleared every abyss, was unusable when there were a hard shields in every side. And I even don't say about diluc for example before xianyun he was just unplayable. It's not that bad in hsr compare to genshin you know.
@@teenagesilver6512 I see. Well, I wouldn't know much about Diluc since I never got him until I hit Fontaine. Same with Keqing. I never got her until 4.3. I didn't even get Kazuha until 4.6. Even then, I have never failed to clear Floor 12 since 1.6. That back then was my first ever 36 star clear. After that, I had a few hiccups in 2.1 and 2.2, but after that, it's been 36 stars every cycle since. I have been challenged a few times, and each time, it made me alter my teams and make tweaks/changes. E.g. Back in 4.2, one abyss cycle wasn't clearable for my Raiden National comp. My solution was to finally build Sucrose and make a Sucrose National comp. It worked wonders. Up until that point, I'd never used Sucrose at end game, so it was new for me. That said, I have always tried to have a small set of dedicated teams, rather than a wide variety of leveled characters. At this point I have: 2 National teams. 2 Hyperbloom teams. 1 Geo Break team. 1 Melt/reverse Melt team. I have never had Freeze comps, or run Taser because it's just not my style. I also don't have any Spread/Aggrevate teams either, so again, I cannot comment on them.
I sometimes think the one way to have a better idea of power creep dilemma is to have the people who claim having the problem post their teams (eidolons and light cones) and also those that don't have issues without depending on the recent characters that the modes are more catered to.
Been able to clear all content mainly due to Iyo. Iyo is my go to for advice and so far hasn’t failed me. Iyo is the most underrated TH-camr in this field. It’s mainly just the people who don’t take his advise who complain, is what I have noticed. Keep up the good work Iyo!
Teccy doesn't have a time issue he said he just doesn't care to play properly. He *could* make better Teams he just doesn't want to. His biggest issue is his Teams not the builds or characters.
Yeah, so he´s objectively playing BAD. So... while he´s not 100% wrong (content is geared to new characters, and new characters are stronger than older ones), he´s not right when he says you HAVE to have the new character or you lose.
Something that is important to consider is that newer characters will usually look better when released because the content around them caters to their strengths. I got Firefly E1S0 after almost 2 months of saving up, and I must admit, she is a beast, but the content right now is heavily focused on break teams, so she looks even more busted than how she is. I have been playing since release and I have noticed this cycle of how every time that a character comes around that either brings or enables a certain archetype is usually crowned to be the best of their field only to "fall off" next patch, and that usually comes from not from the character being weaker or outshined, but by the game not heavily favouring them. My favorite example are Argenti and Black Swan, two of my strongest characters. I remember how at launch my Argenti could sweep everything and DoT with Swan and Kafka were destroying the early versions of 2.0. Both characters are now even stronger than back then, and the enemies are not that much stronger, yet they don't feel as usable now, and that is because the content is not tailored for them anymore.
Firefly is busted even without break turbulence. People already tested firefly against every MOC ever and she 0 cycled them all back to back even against fire resistant enemies. She is far better than Acheron at average investment which is what most players will be at and Acheron is the current best dps. The enemies have gotten way more hp and elemental resistance since even back in 2.0 thats why Argenti and Black Swan feel weaker. I don't think Acheron and Firefly will be fallling off at all for a long while as they mostly ignore all the resistance and weakness mechanics that can cripple other teams since their best teams use characters that have all type res pen(acheron has her own all type res pen in addition to silver wolf), def ignore and they have universal toughness reduction.
I mean there’s also the fact that enemy HP pools have been getting beefier while the new units generally are pumping out more damage with better passives and better scaling and sustains are more reliable and provide something more than just sustain etc…certain meta’s will have periods they’re catered to yes but when the HP of enemies is increasing steadily while characters are getting better scalings…..its gonna happen if it keeps up. At the very least they are handling creep way better than in Honkai impact, but give it a year and I can see us being at a point where we will have literally obsolete 5 star characters.

Theres bascially zero reasons to ever pull for Blade until they give him hp increasing support that triples his max hp or something. Way too many better dps right now even main dps Robin is better than him.

Hoyo neglected him but even if he got supports like Jingliu and Seele did….its not like they’re doing very well these days compared to newer DPS and teams in the Penacony era. An era which has literally only had 4 patches and has a huge gap between the floors and ceilings with characters that came before.
@@jo0rd73 Even Jingliu feels bad to play right now even when enemies weak to ice. You can feel how much the enemy hp increased even when they are ice weak. DHIL is pretty much the only old dps that feels good to play at E0S0 right now as he had abnormally high multipliers and Sparkle fixed his only real issue which was skillpoints.
While CC have proven that even 4* can clear MoC/PF (Idk about the new mode), the biggest gripe about the game for me is the trash gear system (the specific ascension/traces material is a bother as well, but I can live with that). You have THREE, I repeat, THREE fking layers of RNG when it come to gear in the game. You have main stat rng (which sure can be remedy by just farm enough or just use Resin) BUT the others two are definitely deliberated, sub stat rng AND enhance rng, seriously the game need a farmable shuffle for substat or a guarantee result for enhance.
This is sorta the situation i fell into. I started right when Kafka was rerunning. It was just rather convenient that swan and acheron ran close to her rerun. While initially i had the idea to run dot and acheron separately, i actually enjoyed running the three together with Gallagher/aventurine sustain. After i grabbed robin i run dr ratio on the second team and i am likely going to go fei xiao march 7th hunt robin and aventurine.
I appreciate your showcases. I'm not trying to be overly pedantic, but a free 2 play or casual might not have Before the Tutorial Mission Starts since it was only from the release. I'm guessing Eyes of the Beast is a decent alternative, but I'm sort of in the weeds about 4* Light Cones as I still don't have Moles Welcome You, and took until this banner to get Memories. Sometimes, 4* luck is random and stupid. I'm going to guess others will be harsher on the eidolons on 4* characters, but given your account, its probably hard to duck around that specifically since you can't remove Eidolons. Just to get this opinion out there: this is different from what I would consider to be the actual problem Tectone outlined, which is that Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow allow for the focus characters to double dip, and gain a significant advantage over others - and to no one's surprise, the modes usually favor the latest characters. However, even MoC had this issue with the Aventurine run being speed, follow-up, and character dependent. That is a problem with tuning and those modes, and I wish the community focused on that feedback more. Simply put, HSR endgame needed more focus from the devs during the 2.X patch cycle so far, because it's been flawed and imbalanced.

Yes. And this is further compounded by archtype teams having a huge degree of (premium) synergy at this point. Focus teams benefit massively because they are already so strong within their niche as a result of stacking unit synergy. Follow up team is no longer Clara or Ratio + Topaz. Its Ratio+Topaz+Robin+Aventurine. Dot isnt just Kafka, its Kafka+Bs+Ruan Mei+Huohuo. Every unit added to a team like that adds another layer that has to be balanced for. From my perspective at this point we have already already arrived at a point where we have to build archtype teams rather then 1 really strong team + 1 decent team or 2x strong teams. Similar to HI3 where you need to have atleast 3/4 elemental teams and atleast 1 or 2 teams of those has to be debuff focused.
JQ is also my last pick before next anniversary, unless Fexiao turns out to be what I expect her to be.

@@Tiasung While I do agree on most of what you said I do think that the premium synergy part is not as big of a deal YET For the FuA Aventurine can be switch with other sustain like Gallagher Luocha Fu Xuan Huo Huo or even Lynx can work (I think this team is more on getting E1S1 or at least one of Topaz premium upgrade and with Luocha and Gallagher you can spend more skill point on using Topaz skill too) and Robin can be replace with Pela, Ruan Mei, Silverwolf or just ditch E0S0 Topaz and use Pela/Sliverwolf with Ratio and another support Yes the alternative teams do clear slower but it just 1-3 cycles slower from basically the best team of the archetype As for DoT it still is Kafka BS but Ruan Mei can be change to Gunaifen or even Pela while Huo Huo can be change to any sustain that let you survive In the case of Mono Quantum and any team that use Sparkle (except for DanIL and QQ) can use Lynx to solo sustain because of the excessive amount of skill point (Mono Quantum still require SW tho) So yeah it more like half true…. for now
as a legitimate day one ftp with only 30 characters, i have no problems getting max rewards bc i hyper-invest into the characters i have/choose to pull and don’t autobattle. the “have this character or you lose” argument makes no sense when im doing just fine with high investment and some creative strategy
Powercreep exists in the sense that older character needs more work to reach the same level new characters get by doing the average work. And sometimes, aint nobody got time fo dat
exactly. The endgame is gradually increasing in difficulty. Compare Moc in 1.X and 2.X and you see a big difference how tanky and strong the enemies are. If you wanna compete in latest Moc with really old units you better have signature LC, cracked gear or some vertical investment. This is literally the definition of powercreep that Iyo somehow doesnt get.
The pace of power creep in this game is still a lot nicer than in other gacha games. I can take Himeko, slap the cavalry set on her, and clear new content just as fast as she could clear old content. Also, "no time"? Powering up your account mandates 15 minutes of play a day. Fifteen. If you say you'd need more time than that, then your goals are not as clear or as beneficial to you as they could be.
He uses Fire Emblem Heroes as his counter example, but I played that game when it came out, and the first two years had very minimal powercreep. HSR has only been out a year, powercreep isn't only when older characters can't clear new content. It can also be subtle.
Yeah and it just makes older units feel much worse to play than newer ones. I dropped my Jingliu as soon as I got like the perfect run against Aventurine in MOC and managed to get it down in ten turns (not having Acheron made me spend too much time on first half whether I tried dot or Jing Yuan hyper). She feels awful compared to the teams that got buffed by new supports I actually got and new DPS and I like to have fun when I play a game not sweat lord struggle for RNG.
HSR devs want you to have a full DoT, FuA and Break team, if you refuse to build each of these, you'll struggle. Break just happens to be the newest way. Latest Pure Fiction was a struggle for a lot of Kafkaless/Black Swanless players.

There's a new player who's done the first few quests and wants a 5* dps for his acc as his current starter units are finding it difficult to progress in the game. So he looks at the banners and there's 2 characters on - Seele and Acheron... How many of you can say with a straight face that he should pull for Seele? The trend of powercreep with HSR is aligning with Hi3rd's powercreep. ATM, it is NOT exactly a 1-1 copy and paste powercreep but the rotation AT THE MOMENT seems to be that specific element rotations and specific buffs come and go. Daniel and Jingliu have not had their element and come into rotation as much. Both units are still strong but enemies with NOT having their element hurts the overall performance.

I've been playing since day 1, and ever since I first cleared moc back in the day I have never struggled with anything in the game, I have the characters I like and I have everything I need to challenge any Gamemode, if you play the game in a smart way there's nothing you can't do, ppl have this weird idea of trying to get every character that releases, when in reality you should choose one or 2 teams you really enjoy and just focus on that, for me in the beginning that was mono quantum, after that I saved for dot team, then went for acheron as I had every single nihility character, then saved for firefly as I basically already had her team ready to go, I got some other characters along the way but never dipped too much into other teams and archetypes as it's just not worth it if your not fully committed to it, when pure fiction released I was completely unprepared but then I leveled up my erudition characters, learned how to play herta and himeko, and boom cleared it, didn't need argenti or other limited 5* dps, for apocaliptic shadow it's the first time I tackle a new Gamemode with my teams fully built, and it was a breeze, acheron team and firefly team just steam rolled it, simulated universe stuff has always been extremely easy to clear, there's 500 different strategies you can use, lots of them with 4* only, I get that majority of players are casual but man if you just stop and think, plan your pulls etc, you will be able to get everything done with little to no effort, even with bad relics, the whole talk about Powercreep shouldn't exist, the only thing this game has is that newer characters have a higher pull value, but that doesn't mean older ones are useless, my advice is build your 2 favorite team archetypes and then just go for fan service, or a new archetype that you may enjoy
If there's no powercreep, then pulling Seele vs pulling Acheron holds the same value then, both being the main dps in their respective comps.
While yes the game has been going into more specific archetypes of composition building (break, dot, fua, class specific, element specific, etc), that actually doesn't really negate that powercreep isn't happening.

For context about Tectone, he ignored the way the new Apocalyptic Shadow prompts you to play - break the enemy first, specifically the minions, then target the boss. He just went head first against Argenti and disregarded the summons, so he took way too long to achieve full points.

Now, I think there is a level of powercreep in HSR... but it's fine. I'm glad there is some powercreep: imagine if 14 months after release Seele still were the best DPS in the game. The meta stagnancy would have made everyone go away because of boredom.
Honestly yeah. The only powercreep I’ve seen is in sustain. Aventurine is just so much better and does more things than huo huo, who already powercrept loucha. But this seems more like an exception. I will say, the definition of powercreep we’ve been using doesn’t take into account builds or other available characters. It will be easier to clear with Acheron than Seele but you can still clear with Seele, that doesn’t mean no powercreep though. I think there is some elements of power creep(Dhil released and became the best, Jingliu did similar damage but easier, Acheron did more than both, then firefly does similar damage but not in one burst aka more potential to do more damage) that is powercreep.
I'd much rather have an ever-changing meta than a meta that's just stuck with one character at the top (cough Neuvillette cough). It's honestly great that HSR meta is not just stuck with standard hypercarry.

honestly think i'm starting to actually SEE the tectone cycle. seems to start to repeat every one and a half years with a new gacha. once we reach year two of star rail, he will be very much hating it and will quit mid year two.

It does not make for a very positive viewer experience. @@dante19890 Powercreep is in the foundation of any live service game whenever is a gacha or a MMO, it is bound to happen at any time, but in HSR it is yet to happen, and even if it happens, you just have to stop pull for wife/husband and start pull for meta, and regein to stability to clear the endgame and then start pulling for wife/husband characters again.

Thx god someone sane in this community. Tbh, you were the one who actually got me interested in playing HSR when the game released. By the time i had beef with Hoyo cuz of Genshin. I was ignoring HSR really hard, also, most content creators were saying a bunch of generic shit we see in the beginning of every new gacha (Like Tectone is doing with WuWa.) But you, Iyo, you were always the most sane one for me, you gave really good and realistic advices for F2P and new players, so they won't commit any big mistake to mess the account progression and stuff... That really lit it up for me to try HSR... now, here i am, i'm in love HSR as a F2P. Being F2P is a choice, and with that choice comes the understanding that i won't be getting every single character and LC. I gotta understand how the game works properly, so i can grab my favorite characters and fit them correctly into teams they will work.
I like Tectone, i follow his content for ages now. But i couldn't for fuckn sake agree with his opinions because they are like a gigantic dumptruck of pure shit. The worst part is that a lot of people agree with him because they are just as casual... if you are casual, open your hecking wallet and grab your E6s/S5s and play on Auto. I feel like you're missing the point of what power creep is, no? Power creep doesn't mean that old characters aren't able to clear content, but that newer characters can do it easier. Let's say you need 500k damage to kill something (arbitrary number) and Seele does 600k, then she can clear that content, but Acheron does 800k. Sure, your Seele can clear it, but Acheron takes less time to do it. Is that relevant? Not really as long as you get it done within 10 cycles who cares. Is Acheron objectively stronger than Seele? I think so, yes.
Also as a E0S0 Seele enjoyer without Silver Wolf, you're capping. She's unplayable against enemies that aren't quantum weak. But you included Silver Wolf in your must pulls so I think it's fair game to rate her as a good dps, if that's your perspective.
Its all about supports at the end of the day even arlan can 0 cycle if you have premium supports. Old characters will simply suffer if they don't have premium supports right now and are off element.

Powercreep is a thing. Although not as extreme, the best way to see it is looking at power budget and damage requirements. The power budget of characters in 1.0 is VASTLY lower than of 2.3, while the damage required to 36 star MOC has skyrocketed. The first ever 12 floor MOC had final boss health pools of 643k and ~1m, while the current MOC has 2.6m and 1.2m

People just don't want to invest in their characters. I see so many "what team should I make", "I can't beat Aventurine/Sunday story, help", etc posts on reddit, and then I see the teams and builds and I scratch my head. All the limited DPS units, 0 sustain units, or they only have Fu Xuan. Level 60 characters, traces at level 3-4, relics from random sets without being enhanced. STOP SLEEPING ON THE 4*. THEY CAN CARRY HARD IF YOU INVEST!

I usually see a trend that people *don't read* hsr is pretty strategy heavy, Especially in equilibrium 5 above. Brute force can't work, you have to read what they do and more importantly what your characters do. If you read these two things, you can complete most of the content in the game(maybe not the last stages of MoC or PF)

I think for me the game strayed away from what I wanted it to be.
I didn’t pull Silverwolf because I didn’t want a cheatcode character. I didn’t want to be faced with a battle and say to myself just use the quantum team because Silverwolf implants quantum weakness and Seele destroys them. I wanted to be faced with the weaknesses the enemy had and then have to think to myself ‘ok, how do I put together a team that covers those weaknesses?’ I was never really into Hypercarry but I think the way of thinking there is probably similar. See what the weakness is and bring a main dps to counter that weakness. And to do this you need horizontal investment because you need a dps to cover each weakness type and you need the support characters that are good to support them.
I pulled Kafka in order to make a DoT team which I loved. If a fight had lightning weakness I’d break out the DoT team, and I could swap out sub-dps for whatever other weaknesses were present, Kafka/Sampo, Kafka/Luca, Kafka/Guin. But then I got Ruan Mei and Black Swan and now the DoT team is pretty much what I didn’t want to happen. The DoT team is always the same now Kafka/Black Swan/Ruan Mei, if a fight has lightning weakness bring DoT team, if a fight has wind weakness bring exactly the same DoT team.
I pulled Ruan Mei because I really liked the idea of a break team and she was so enticing with her Break Efficency buff. And what could match what I wanted better than a break team where you had to match weaknesss types to break toughness? But now I have Firefly, she just gives fire weakness to everyone so she can break them regardless of their original element. So if I want to use break team it doesn’t really seem that important what the enemy weaknesses are.
So I have a DoT team and a break team that no longer really embody what I wanted them to be. The game has changed as time went on but not in the direction I hoped. Though I’m not totally sure if it’s better this way or not.
Though if I want to use the DoT team and the Break team I have the tricky decision of who gets Ruan Mei (I failed to pull Robin who might have substituted for Ruan Mei on DoT team).
I mean there's still type Res though, as most bosses have a 20%-50% DMG resistance to elements they weren't originally weak to, neither Firefly nor Boothill takes away this resistance, only Silver wolf does it, but it's by 20%.
Your definition of power creep is just incredibly harsh, it definitely exists but obv not bad enough where you have to pull for a character every patch. Just look at where all the older units are situated on the tier list (with Kafka being the only real outlier). Power creep isn't bad as long as it's not excessive.
Also consider how many characters you mentioned in your examples section.... who can afford to build 30 different characters? I've been farming relics for Acheron since she came out, mainly because I have to take 4-day breaks to upgrade other characters as I build out my teams. Maybe the argument could be better framed around how necessary light cones are? Either way, you can objectively see how newer characters are more powerful than the older ones, which is the definition of power creep...

I built my Quantum team as hard as i can and my Seele literally has the highest Crit ratio than all of my other characters and my underbuilt acheron with not lightcone out performs her even with 2 defensive characters and 1 support
while my Seele team cannot do things regardless of how i built her for Apocalyptic shadow with Bronya Sparkle team

You literally just need to break cocolia twice and the fight's over, since Seele overkills her by a lot when that happens. If you're struggling with that your issue isn't Seele, but her team and yes Fu xuan would help because she has an offensive ult to break with and doesn't need to use skill as much as Lynx (who despite how much people glazed her is one of the worst sustainers in the game)
Not factoring how they are massively higher speed and Gepard casting shield turn 2 forcing you to break him instead of cocolia which later on turns into cocolia spamming freeze.
the issue if i use 1 healer cocolia would just end the fight turn 1
if i use defender it wouldn't last until the 2nd fight
if i use both and only have silverwolf their toughness breaking isn't sufficient before gepard starts cycling his shield so you have to break him twice to either kill him or if you aimed cocolia first gepard will have full toughness which i say to you tough luck when he puts up his counter attack to delay you into attacking something else which is the reason the whole things falls apart with action value being limited.

But if the fact that a unit can perform better than her with a far less optimal team that Seele has that's exactly the definition of power creep which is my gripe as the whole video is literally a mental gymnastic to deny powercreep is not real and instead make a new definition for it that is not what most people are saying when they are saying there is a powercreep in the game
I have a very well invested mono quantum team as well, E0S1 Seele, E0 tutorial light cone SW, Sparkle E0S0 and Fu Xuan E0S1, only buy the welkin and i can clear all content in the game so far not to metion a few patches ago Mono Quantum as the BEST team in the game so if you truly have this team the way u say you do i cannot see how u struggle.
PS: a low invested Acheron should not be outdamaging a good invested Seele, damage per screenshot does not = dps

@@TheGreatJedi 1st Fu Xuan would improve it alot as she is light years ahed of Lynx, 2nd light cones at least for the dps should be a thing you at least attempt to get it sucks its like this but majority of the time signature light cone is way better then the f2p options like Iyo says this is not genshin, 3rd You have the foundation of the mono quantum team you can just keep building on it, sparkle is a clear indicator that they are pushing quantum to be played in a mono setup so its very probable a future solo mono character will release.

I consider myself a casual f2p player but was able to clear all content this time around. I’ve been unlucky pulling sustains but got Jingliu(Sig), Dot team, Break, Acheron(sig). So it’s still possible to have all your favorites while pulling lightcones and I can make my favorites better by pulling their supports or getting their lighcones. Right now I’m saving for another sustain that would help my teams so either Huo Huo or a future sustain for my teams

So I do think power creep exists, just not in an extreme way. Can people still clear hardest content and max rewards without the meta stuff? Yes, I do it all the time.
The problem is how it feels. Moc has mechanics that obviously benefit the flavor of the month, but hardly anyone complains. Many feel it's very duable without the exact mechanic abuse meta stuff. But pure fiction...apart from herta and himeko spam, many would argue feels more restrictive and feels necessary to run the meta stuff, which is by design. Again, it's possible to do it without the meta stuff, but boy will it be way more challenging. It's more apparent in that mode than moc according to many people's sentiments online.
I can't comment on apocalyptic shadow since I haven't don't it yet. But look, are there characters strictly better versions of others? Yes. That's power creep. Does it matter? I would argue not too much right now, but that's why many see it's starting to head to that direction, which is standard for a lot of gachas. And I won't comment on leaks, but holy hell a character coming soon is straight up 100% power creep of another. It's inevitable. But we will see if it matters or not. Time will tell
@@GodofGoblins Yeah I don’t like this defence by people of “it isn’t powercreep if the older units can still do it”. What matters is the difference in investment, RNG and cycles taken. Sure there are 4 star only clears but like good luck to 99% of players going through the pain of trying to replicate that…being turn based it’s an absolute headache to try runs like this and there is clearly a big difference between the floor and ceilings of units released today compared to last year. Mix that in with how much more niche and overpowered the buffs are getting and yeah people notice a massive difference and it doesn’t feel good for most using the older units and praying for godlike runs versus having fun stomping it more easily with the newer characters.

The fact that you dont see 4-star clears anymore, despite the game being out for Barely over a month, tells you everything you need to know.
Genshin, till this Day, still has the best powercreep management, and team versatility of all HYV titles.
It is actually impressive how well they managed to navigate those waters.
best powercreep management? Like bennet, xingque, xiangling? They killed every 4 star from the start, this is just bad design. 4 years of playing those dumb broken chars. And this is not the only situation here. Venti was slaughtered by kazuha, geo and physical were slaughtered by hoyo, everyone was slaughtered by raiden. Lack of limited supports and a lot of damage dealers are powercreeping each other bring you back to stupidly overtuned holy 6star trio. There was 0 reasons to pull cyno, yoimiya, lyney and bunch more just because some chars were too powerful to compete with.
@@teenagesilver6512 hmm, while I see your point, I'd argue that GI still does better management of powercreep since even now, in the 4.7-4.8 Spiral Abyss, it is Still possible to fully clear Floor 12 with purely 4-Star characters and weapons.
The same cannot be said of HSR as the game builds its end game around newer characters, with Overlapping mechanics.
In the end, while GI focuses on making Likable characters, HSR focuses on making Powerful characters.
Take Ruan Mei for instance. Most people agree that she isn't a good person. In fact, she is a Danger to the Universe. And yet, people pull for her because....she is That powerful. Clearing content without her is Incredibly difficult....and that's By Design.
As for powercreep in general, 4-stars being powercrept by 5-stars isn't that bad, but in HSR you have literal 5-stars being powercrept by Newer 5-stars.
E.g. Blade by Jingliu, Welt by DHIL, DHIL by Jingliu, and Jingliu vs Acheron.
Clara by Yunli.
It is out of control at this point, and by now, I'd bet that most players in HSR even Care who they pull for, as long as said person is game breaking.
e.g....Firefly...who broke the Entire premise of the game's Toughness mechanic.

Ruan mei was like kazuha for genshin, a big leap for team building. Now I would say robin is slightly stronger, according to cn community she has less avarage clear cycles than ruan mei, but ruan mei is more versatile by now. Yea, just like in genshin there is powercreep between 5 stars. Diluc was killed by many pyro chars, and it was nearly impossible to 36 abyss with c0 diluc f2p build. You say Blade was powercrept by jingliu, but he has a wind element, not really, it's like saying hutao was supreme to xiao and every person rolling hutao and using in almost every abyss while xiao is struggling. And you know what, blade has similar situation to xiao. He is a 5 star without his dedicated supports. He has very good hp% in his kit, also if there was a good support to give him aggro, he would be in a much better position. (not lynx she struggling to sustain nowadays as 4*) For standart chars it's normal to be powercrept by limited. Look at keqing she like welt had no place in any team until dendro, and then, she was the weakest electro char, but in a good state. Look at the hsr character roster. There is no significuntly bad limited character. Seele is one of the best dps in the game, jing yuan needs good dedicated support for summons (we will get) but he is fine right now, blade in a rough spot but can clear, I will say blade is the worst 5 star dps right now, but still can clear. And the others are in a good spot, they no longer can brute force content that easily, and it's a healthy way to dedicate every character to be useful in certain circumstances. Firefly isn't that broken, it's misinformation by the community, hoyo just flavor newer chars in endgame content right now. She can't ignore fire resistance, she is bad there and it doesn't matter can she break them or not. Acheron yea.. a real kind of powercreep, but it's like raiden, neuvilette or arlecchino you know, just a little bit stronger than others. Now genshin.. I have a lot characters, and I can say, that I can't 36 every abyss with 2 strong dps. There was some abysses where my scaramouche just can't clear in every side. I have c2 ayaka with mistsplitter and she also was very bad in every side of the bad abysses for her. Sometimes my broken itto team who cleared every abyss, was unusable when there were a hard shields in every side. And I even don't say about diluc for example before xianyun he was just unplayable. It's not that bad in hsr compare to genshin you know.

Well, I wouldn't know much about Diluc since I never got him until I hit Fontaine.
Same with Keqing.
I never got her until 4.3.
I didn't even get Kazuha until 4.6.
Even then, I have never failed to clear Floor 12 since 1.6. That back then was my first ever 36 star clear.
After that, I had a few hiccups in 2.1 and 2.2, but after that, it's been 36 stars every cycle since. I have been challenged a few times, and each time, it made me alter my teams and make tweaks/changes.
E.g. Back in 4.2, one abyss cycle wasn't clearable for my Raiden National comp. My solution was to finally build Sucrose and make a Sucrose National comp.
It worked wonders. Up until that point, I'd never used Sucrose at end game, so it was new for me.
That said, I have always tried to have a small set of dedicated teams, rather than a wide variety of leveled characters.
At this point I have:
2 National teams.
2 Hyperbloom teams.
1 Geo Break team.
1 Melt/reverse Melt team.
I have never had Freeze comps, or run Taser because it's just not my style.
I also don't have any Spread/Aggrevate teams either, so again, I cannot comment on them.

I sometimes think the one way to have a better idea of power creep dilemma is to have the people who claim having the problem post their teams (eidolons and light cones) and also those that don't have issues without depending on the recent characters that the modes are more catered to.
Been able to clear all content mainly due to Iyo. Iyo is my go to for advice and so far hasn’t failed me. Iyo is the most underrated TH-camr in this field. It’s mainly just the people who don’t take his advise who complain, is what I have noticed. Keep up the good work Iyo!

Something that is important to consider is that newer characters will usually look better when released because the content around them caters to their strengths. I got Firefly E1S0 after almost 2 months of saving up, and I must admit, she is a beast, but the content right now is heavily focused on break teams, so she looks even more busted than how she is.
I have been playing since release and I have noticed this cycle of how every time that a character comes around that either brings or enables a certain archetype is usually crowned to be the best of their field only to "fall off" next patch, and that usually comes from not from the character being weaker or outshined, but by the game not heavily favouring them.
My favorite example are Argenti and Black Swan, two of my strongest characters. I remember how at launch my Argenti could sweep everything and DoT with Swan and Kafka were destroying the early versions of 2.0. Both characters are now even stronger than back then, and the enemies are not that much stronger, yet they don't feel as usable now, and that is because the content is not tailored for them anymore.
Firefly is busted even without break turbulence. People already tested firefly against every MOC ever and she 0 cycled them all back to back even against fire resistant enemies. She is far better than Acheron at average investment which is what most players will be at and Acheron is the current best dps. The enemies have gotten way more hp and elemental resistance since even back in 2.0 thats why Argenti and Black Swan feel weaker.
I don't think Acheron and Firefly will be fallling off at all for a long while as they mostly ignore all the resistance and weakness mechanics that can cripple other teams since their best teams use characters that have all type res pen(acheron has her own all type res pen in addition to silver wolf), def ignore and they have universal toughness reduction.
I mean there’s also the fact that enemy HP pools have been getting beefier while the new units generally are pumping out more damage with better passives and better scaling and sustains are more reliable and provide something more than just sustain etc…certain meta’s will have periods they’re catered to yes but when the HP of enemies is increasing steadily while characters are getting better scalings…..its gonna happen if it keeps up. At the very least they are handling creep way better than in Honkai impact, but give it a year and I can see us being at a point where we will have literally obsolete 5 star characters.
@@jo0rd73 Blade right now is already obsolete if you don't vertically invest he straight up take 8 cycles unironcially even with cracked build. 4 star only teams are clearing content faster than him now. Theres bascially zero reasons to ever pull for Blade until they give him hp increasing support that triples his max hp or something. Way too many better dps right now even main dps Robin is better than him.

Hoyo neglected him but even if he got supports like Jingliu and Seele did….its not like they’re doing very well these days compared to newer DPS and teams in the Penacony era. An era which has literally only had 4 patches and has a huge gap between the floors and ceilings with characters that came before.
@@jo0rd73 Even Jingliu feels bad to play right now even when enemies weak to ice. You can feel how much the enemy hp increased even when they are ice weak. DHIL is pretty much the only old dps that feels good to play at E0S0 right now as he had abnormally high multipliers and Sparkle fixed his only real issue which was skillpoints.
While CC have proven that even 4* can clear MoC/PF (Idk about the new mode), the biggest gripe about the game for me is the trash gear system (the specific ascension/traces material is a bother as well, but I can live with that). You have THREE, I repeat, THREE fking layers of RNG when it come to gear in the game. You have main stat rng (which sure can be remedy by just farm enough or just use Resin) BUT the others two are definitely deliberated, sub stat rng AND enhance rng, seriously the game need a farmable shuffle for substat or a guarantee result for enhance.

This is sorta the situation i fell into. I started right when Kafka was rerunning. It was just rather convenient that swan and acheron ran close to her rerun. While initially i had the idea to run dot and acheron separately, i actually enjoyed running the three together with Gallagher/aventurine sustain. After i grabbed robin i run dr ratio on the second team and i am likely going to go fei xiao march 7th hunt robin and aventurine.

I appreciate your showcases. I'm not trying to be overly pedantic, but a free 2 play or casual might not have Before the Tutorial Mission Starts since it was only from the release. I'm guessing Eyes of the Beast is a decent alternative, but I'm sort of in the weeds about 4* Light Cones as I still don't have Moles Welcome You, and took until this banner to get Memories. Sometimes, 4* luck is random and stupid. I'm going to guess others will be harsher on the eidolons on 4* characters, but given your account, its probably hard to duck around that specifically since you can't remove Eidolons.
Just to get this opinion out there: this is different from what I would consider to be the actual problem Tectone outlined, which is that Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow allow for the focus characters to double dip, and gain a significant advantage over others - and to no one's surprise, the modes usually favor the latest characters. However, even MoC had this issue with the Aventurine run being speed, follow-up, and character dependent. That is a problem with tuning and those modes, and I wish the community focused on that feedback more. Simply put, HSR endgame needed more focus from the devs during the 2.X patch cycle so far, because it's been flawed and imbalanced.

Yes. And this is further compounded by archtype teams having a huge degree of (premium) synergy at this point. Focus teams benefit massively because they are already so strong within their niche as a result of stacking unit synergy. Follow up team is no longer Clara or Ratio + Topaz. Its Ratio+Topaz+Robin+Aventurine. Dot isnt just Kafka, its Kafka+Bs+Ruan Mei+Huohuo. Every unit added to a team like that adds another layer that has to be balanced for. From my perspective at this point we have already already arrived at a point where we have to build archtype teams rather then 1 really strong team + 1 decent team or 2x strong teams. Similar to HI3 where you need to have atleast 3/4 elemental teams and atleast 1 or 2 teams of those has to be debuff focused.
JQ is also my last pick before next anniversary, unless Fexiao turns out to be what I expect her to be.

For the FuA Aventurine can be switch with other sustain like Gallagher Luocha Fu Xuan Huo Huo or even Lynx can work (I think this team is more on getting E1S1 or at least one of Topaz premium upgrade and with Luocha and Gallagher you can spend more skill point on using Topaz skill too) and Robin can be replace with Pela, Ruan Mei, Silverwolf or just ditch E0S0 Topaz and use Pela/Sliverwolf with Ratio and another support
Yes the alternative teams do clear slower but it just 1-3 cycles slower from basically the best team of the archetype
As for DoT it still is Kafka BS but Ruan Mei can be change to Gunaifen or even Pela while Huo Huo can be change to any sustain that let you survive
In the case of Mono Quantum and any team that use Sparkle (except for DanIL and QQ) can use Lynx to solo sustain because of the excessive amount of skill point (Mono Quantum still require SW tho)
So yeah it more like half true…. for now

exactly. The endgame is gradually increasing in difficulty. Compare Moc in 1.X and 2.X and you see a big difference how tanky and strong the enemies are. If you wanna compete in latest Moc with really old units you better have signature LC, cracked gear or some vertical investment.

The pace of power creep in this game is still a lot nicer than in other gacha games. I can take Himeko, slap the cavalry set on her, and clear new content just as fast as she could clear old content.
Also, "no time"? Powering up your account mandates 15 minutes of play a day. Fifteen. If you say you'd need more time than that, then your goals are not as clear or as beneficial to you as they could be.
He uses Fire Emblem Heroes as his counter example, but I played that game when it came out, and the first two years had very minimal powercreep. HSR has only been out a year, powercreep isn't only when older characters can't clear new content. It can also be subtle.
Yeah and it just makes older units feel much worse to play than newer ones. I dropped my Jingliu as soon as I got like the perfect run against Aventurine in MOC and managed to get it down in ten turns (not having Acheron made me spend too much time on first half whether I tried dot or Jing Yuan hyper). She feels awful compared to the teams that got buffed by new supports I actually got and new DPS and I like to have fun when I play a game not sweat lord struggle for RNG.
HSR devs want you to have a full DoT, FuA and Break team, if you refuse to build each of these, you'll struggle. Break just happens to be the newest way.
Latest Pure Fiction was a struggle for a lot of Kafkaless/Black Swanless players.

The trend of powercreep with HSR is aligning with Hi3rd's powercreep. ATM, it is NOT exactly a 1-1 copy and paste powercreep but the rotation AT THE MOMENT seems to be that specific element rotations and specific buffs come and go. Daniel and Jingliu have not had their element and come into rotation as much. Both units are still strong but enemies with NOT having their element hurts the overall performance.
