Hailing from Brooklyn, Dougherty has burst onto the scene in recent years having cut his teeth in Chicago, looking up to legends like Derrick Carter and Frankie Knuckles. Dougherty’s first releases via the tastemaker French Express imprint put him instantly on the map, taking both the blog world and club circuit by storm.
With his productions championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and KCRW’s Jason Bentley, Moon Boots quickly built a cult following as a DJ, with his expertly curated mixtapes racking up millions of streams between them. 2015 saw him make his debut on London label Anjunadeep, with ‘Red Sky’, a warm rolling cut of melodic groove-laden house, supported by Tensnake, Skream, Claude VonStroke and Tiga.
Now Moon Boots serves up ‘First Landing’ - an ambitious 10 track LP showcasing his impressive range as a producer, seamlessly blending classic US house sounds with funk and soul influences, expansive electronica, sun-kissed R&B and moody dancefloor energy.
Featuring seven collaborators, including notable guest appearances from Fiora, Lulu James and Janelle Kroll, the album also sees Dougherty working with fresh talent in King Kona, Nic Hanson and Black Gatsby.
With early singles ‘Tear My Heart’ (nominated for ‘Best Track’ in DJ Mag’s Best of North America Awards) and ‘The Life Aquatic’ picking up widespread support from BBC Radio 1, SiriusXM, Triple J and KCRW, along with press coverage from Billboard and Mixmag, ‘First Landing’ looks set to mark a coming of age for Moon Boots.
‘First Landing’ is set to be the ninth artist album to be released on Anjunadeep, an A&R hotbed celebrated for the release of debut LPs from Dusky, Cubicolor, Lane 8, Moon Boots. With over 300 single releases and a string of iTunes #1 albums and compilations under its belt, the label has distinguished itself as one of the scene’s leading imprints, earning glowing coverage everywhere from Resident Advisor to Pitchfork, whilst receiving heavy support on BBC Radio 1 from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, B.Traits and Phil Taggart.

Creí que era un comentario con valor el tuyo y pronto me dí cuenta de que no, digo que asco esto de menospreciar la música o artistas de porque si es más reconocido o no, tengo 17 casi 18, y creo que tengo una visión musical mucho más madura que quienes comentan este tipo de cosas, es increible el hate de este lado, yo escucho a Hardwell y Garrix, y eso no me impide escuchar artistas como Moon boots, Rufus du sol, Elderbrook, Maceo plex, o sonidos de los 80's etc ¿Cual es mi punto? Pues que hacen este lado tan tóxico que despues uno ya no puede ni disfrutar de la música en su estado puro sin tener que ver o escuchar mierdas sobre otros artistas, no es la primera vez que me topo con estos comentarios por eso me tiene harto, puedo comprender los comentarios que quizas dicen "tal artista está infravalorado" pero de ahí a mirar en menos el trabajo de los más conocidos solo por ser conocidos, es decepcionante la verdad
