Happy sat chat. Loved the chat part about living how you want to be living after you lose weight, or paint every day, or whatever. Start now…good advice! Enjoy
Thanks 😊
I loved that idea too… live and do what you would be doing if you were : thinner, healthier, a published author/illustrator etc!!! Fantastic advice for anyone!
@@thefrugalcrafter welcome
I am watching with my coffee in hand. Avoiding the kitchen clean up before I have to get back into the canning swing of things. I have 200lbs of tomatoes on my kitchen table.
Wow! Happy canning
@@jicolourist thank you. It’s a grind 😂 I have harvested around 350lbs of tomatoes this year from my garden. And I am a little over it currently but I look forward to the end product
You got this!
@@jicolouristoh man, I understand the over it part, but I sort of miss my garden abundance now that I live in a condo. I hope you can stay cool.
@@starr-starr I am in south Alabama. It is hot but I can outside to keep our house from heating up
Your logic on buying extra mini palettes had me laughing so hard. Reminds me of my husband’s grandmother, she was much the same way, but mainly with groceries, and Dr. Pepper. She was a one woman Dr. Pepper distribution center. Miss her, she was a hoot.
😂 My late father always bought toilet paper when he went to any store that carried it. One day I asked why and he Samy mother was such a delicate Southern Belle she was embarrassed to buy it. I later asked my mother if she was embarrassed to buy tp and she said “Of course not! But we always have way too much!”
In the great TP shortage of 2020 I wished I had had those stacks of TP!!!
Lol, that's awesome!
"You need to buy it again so that it averages out the cost".... 🙋YES, I do that too!!! Hahaha
I might not “buy it again” but when I buy someone a gift I almost always buy 2-one for me haha.
I do that. I end up with items I'll never use😂
When I watch game shows and they win boats, surf boards etc. I always think I hope they have water and storage nearby.
Thanks, Lindsay. As always, it's a fun time with you!
Exactly!
Really agree with “start living the life you want to live.” Applies to both work life and home life. Enjoy the sun and hope you have a great week Lindsay!
Thank you! You too!
Don't wait to start that blog and self-inflicted art challenge that you wanted to start 5 years ago. I'm finally doing it, people! I could have been so much further along if I had just started it back then!
Yay! So proud of you!!!
I haven’t been watercoloring for a while, then returned and was using various paints. This morning I pulled out my Mei Laing Pretty Excellent and it was like meeting a best old friend! I may have rediscovered my joy in watercolor!
I hope so!
You always put me in a positive mode & smiling - thank you 🙏❤
I'm so glad!
So much wisdom! Have a lovely day!
Thank you! You too!
Love those glasses! I hope you had fun painting with your friend!I think it was so nice of you to share the ideas for the pallet holders! There was so much good feedback about them! Thanks for “Sat Chat” Lindsay. It’s always fun!
You are so welcome!
Happy summertime Lindsay! June has struggled this year! so make the most of every bright day! ❤❤❤
Yes!
THAT'S HOW my minimalist journey began last year after decluttering. My art room has been the last place for me to tackle, I have supplies for so many different art mediums and found that I didn't like some things I've tried but I spent the money so I need to use it or keep it. I finally decided that I'll feel better if I give it to someone else that can use it and then I don't give to look at it and feel bad about it anymore and I can concentrate on the art I really want to get better at or already love making. I think I'm gonna look for that book to read now too. I had to have a heart to heart with fantasy Terry so I understand what you mean. Have a great week, stay hydrated.
I think it's a conversation to have often. It's easy to slip and start over collecting for our fantasy selves, but I figure my future self would rather have more cash in the bank and less stuff in the house.
I’m a serious impulse buyer when I scroll through this kinda stuff. 😂
😆
It is not cool in TN. it is HOT! enjoy your summer, with all the stuff you like to do. Thank you very much
Lindsey I love your talks… I started painting every day a fews back only for a few minutes here and there …retired now and I paint every day every morning till about noon, my afternoons are crafting and reading your a good inspiration thanks
Wonderful! That's what I like to hear!
Happy Sat chat. So glad you are having a warm week, we in Minnesota are having cool temps and a lot of rain. I guess it is the price we pay for little amounts of snow😂😂. The pallet cases are adorable and look easy to make I will check out the tutorial for sure. Have a great weekend💕 Great advise on being who you want to be!!
You too!!
Thanks for the advice from that book. Sounds simple, mindset change. Hope you had a great weekend!
Thank you for encouragement. This is a good way to start the Summer. I would try to find another pottery shop in another town. You might have a better experience somewhere else. I get it about the weird vibes when things are uncomfortable when dealing with a business. You don't want a repeat of the same exact experience. We are in a heat wave here in PA. It's finally Summer! Take care. Have a good weekend.
I love all the gold nuggets in this sat chat!! Can't wait to hear all the fun outdoor painting adventures you go on this summer! We live in Texas in the middle of nowhere and it is a 45 minute drive to town plus its gets in the 100s around this time of year; so I don't get out much except for an early morning walk or a family evening walk before the bugs come out to rule the night. I don't even know if we have a place close by to do any pattle boarding. In fact I hadn't hear of it until you mentioned it. We do have a lake in the big city. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing with us! I was thinking of making leather cases for my travel palettes instead of buying anything new so now I'm off to watch your videos as I'm a copycat at heart...lol! I've never done WWM before only just hear of it last year. I do try to paint daily but usually with a tutorial maybe it's time to step out and try painting without a tutorial! Love your encouragement and easy access to learning art!! It has been amazing for me and I'm so very grateful!!
Totally understand not waiting... I used to tell myself you can't craft til you get stuffed cleaned up, which meant I didn't get to craft much and felt like I was being punished, etc. Then, I made creating part of the cleaning routine... instead of moving a work in progress around so I can clean, I go ahead and finish it. I usually have several projects going at one time, so once I get one project completed I finish a couple more and put the supplies away, and then my space slowly gets clean.
Love that!
I love your holsters. I don't paint outdoors (allergies mainly) so I don't "need" any but they are cute. They could be very addictive. I just heard about and watched a gal who mentioned that book. What she shared was very enlightening and something thoughtful. Even beyond de-cluttering. It was very helpful regarding mindset and those of us who suffer from immune disorders. Setting realistic goals - that's the video I watched, the gal about the cabinets. Even sent it to my sister. Wow, what a small world. I clicked on her video by happenchance. The video site was called
Towards a Simple Life and it really is good.
Thanks for tracking her down for me!
No worries, Lindsay! Sat chats don’t all have to be 28 mins! Enjoy your summer weather while you have it!
You're the best!
Pottery really is a big deal. We had a slightly crazy woman "artist" living with her family in a nice home in the nearby hamlet. The house came with attached pottery workshop and kiln. One night something happened. End of the story? House and studio burned down. Really strange totem pole (bear in mind this is an English village) either got burned or knocked over but it never reappeared. In face the family never came back. It took years of wrangling with the insurance company to rebuild I think. I'd not want a kiln attached to my home.
Happy summer! You always make summer sound lovely on your videos.
I agree, kilns scare me, heck, gas stoves scare me!
Lindsay, that tiny pallet would make a great Christmas tree ornament!
Great idea!!
A canoe is a perfect example and that is us for sure! I’m going to try and sell it while summer is here. We have had for over 20 years…lol. Thinking we will use it and have not once in over 10! lol. It’s time to part ways! 🙂😂
Sounds great!
We have had the aluminum canoe for 40 years. We are now too old to.lug it onto top of the car but I hate to get rid of it. So it just sits in the back yard. Ugh.
@@kathyreuter6259 🤣🤣🤣. I relate
Be the person you want to be. That's so simple, yet so deep.
I got an active puppy/dog to force me to exersize. I've been out almost every day since I got her, so it worked.
I feel better and she has a loving home.
Both books sound interesting. I might give them a whirl.
Tfs.
That's wonderful! When I have a dog, I rarely use my treadmill, and I get out and see my neighbors, which is something our modern society is really missing.
Happy SatChat.! it’s gorgeous summer on the other end of the country, PNW.. you get 9 months of winter, we get 9 months of rain..☔️
Thanks Lindsay, great Sat Chat, have an awesome week!
Thank you! You too!
Great Sat Chat and i love your advice about weight and pretending we are that person we want to be, so true! I had some guys here working on my house for 8 weeks and one of them always said "just do it" doesn't hurt to try he would say.. Thank you for this awesome Chat! 🤩
So true!
I am painting your elegant writer birch trees project while I’m watching this Sat chat! Just splattered on some glittery paint into the leaves.
Wonderful!
I ordered a zipper pouch with your art from world watercolor month. It's so cute.
Thanks 😊
Monsoon has started here. Went from sunny and surface of the sun to humid and rainy
Yikes, stay cool and dry!
I haven't heard of "forced to fit" before but it makes so much sense! I guess it's just a different term for what I consider "settling for what's cheap and available" rather than what I am looking for then I don't feel like I can replace it even when I find what I actually wanted. I'm getting better at decluttering because the clutter is definitely a creative block for me. "Essentialism" sounds great! I'll have to see if it's on Libby.
Good thinking! Always check the library first:)
Good morning everyone! I am excited to do World Watercolor month for the first time! Luckily I have a nice small sketchbook I haven’t used in a year!! Ha ha. I hope you will do a bunch of videos. I love the idea of essentialism. I’ve been streamlining my life since I retired and sold my house and moved to an apartment in Florida. I feel so free! Enjoy this summertime!
Wonderful!
Have a great weekend! Don’t forget the sunblock. It’s hot as Hades out there.
I put it on after I shower so I don't miss a spot!
great to see you ,i love sat chat with you
Thanks 😊
Staying cool in Indiana right now is a challenge because highs in the mid 90s can be not only hot, but very humid! Summer is my "meh" season.
I'm looking forward to the Michael's 'iris' class. Those are my favorite flowers to draw and paint.
A short Sat Chat is fine. At least we all got to spend time on our Saturday morning with you! Have a great weekend.
Sounds great! Hopefully the listing will be up on Michael's website soon!
Thank you for the book recommendation perfect timing right now love your Sat Chats❤🫂😘
You're so welcome!
Oh Lindsay...you're just too cool 😎 & cute 🥰 in your red outfit and those white sunglasses...and then to drive around in your convertible? Woo hoo! 🎉Great way to celebrate summer in Maine! 🎉
Oh thank you!
Love sat chat! Thanks for sharing❤
You are so welcome
So excited for World Watercolor month. I’ve even sent the info to my hubby & sister in law to see if they want to paint along as well. Plus I ordered a coffee mug with your popsicle painting. 😊😊😊
Wonderful!
Love the glasses! Enjoy the weekend!
Can I just say how cute your hair looks like this!
I always look forward to Sat Chat- you are a fun companion to have “chatting” in my studio!
Love all your pallet holsters. I cannot sew . I've tried, taken lessons, tried more. 2 ruined sewing machines later, I'm done.🤗
Oh no! Hand stitching in felt is pretty easy and even sloppy stitches look good when to turn the peice right side out.
Hullo Lindsay, I have been thinking about those very small sample squares. I believe that you can create a “quilt” of these for a larger palette/sketchbook carrier! So create a pattern of the small pieces and sew them onto a sheet of cotton or felt or any substrate then turn that into an excellent carry-all! Or as a multi-surface palette pouch! Thank you for sharing all of these ideas with us. If I was looking for a place to help me fire my pottery I would run an AD in the local paper or the free hand out sheet from the grocery store, do you have those in Maine? Ask for a local potter who has a kiln and ask what they might charge you? Trade art for kiln time? I bet there are plenty of people that have kilns sitting in the garage and you helping them get it in action can work for you both! Please take care, be safe and enjoy your weekend!
That's a great idea!
Maine is not as humid as CT shoreline is, it’s a hot steamy 93 right how, even the kitty doesn’t want to sit in the window, too hot for her as well, good day to stay in AC & do some art
I ordered the pallet I linked below. Can’t wait to get it and try some tiny painting.
Enjoy 😉
I kept thinking about Rosie the riveter the whole time I watched your video. 😀 Your little pallet holsters were cute. I don’t paint, don’t have pallets, so did not watch that video. But now I’m planning on watching it because I think it could be useful to use for other things. I have a bunch of leather scraps I bought at a Viking festival so I already have material.
Great idea!!
Your outfit with the sunglasses is so cute! You look ready to take on the world in your convertible. Does Jason have a drillpress? Those mini paint sets probably wouldn't be too hard to make and you could customize them. The iris is beautiful. My dad used to have a variety of bearded iris so I'm looking forward to that class. I'm not a minimalist in any sense, but being purposeful in what stays in my house and my life makes a lot of sense and can weed out the chaff. I'm going to check into that TH-camr. Thanks for that and thanks for another great Sat Chat.
He does but I'm sure I can't make anything nearly as good for $7 lol!
Just HAD to buy your ice cream bag! SSSOOOO adorable and colorful. Looking forward to July! Enjoy your happy Lindsay convertible day! :) 🙋♀
Thank you!
I already ordered my Lindsay mug and zippered bag for World Watercolor Month and am eagerly awaiting it! I use last years mug every single day for my coffee and love it. Also, I'm actually going to try to participate this year but I don't know about those prompts lol. I am not nearly as imaginative as you hahahaha! Have a great weekend!
I hate all of the prompts every year. I guess I’m just a plain Jane kind of girl.
Hope you enjoy it!
You don't have to follow them, just paint everyday:)
@@thefrugalcrafter that’s where I’m headed 😊
When you get time this summer read "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt. Delightful!
Oooh! Another Lindsay pouch! Thank you. I am going to do the challenge this July!
Wonderful!
Have a swell Summer weekend Lindsay!?🎉
You too!
oooh! i saw your review on the small palette but not the holster tutorial, i'll need to go watch that! - it always amazes me how much you're able to get so much done Lindsay~ maybe i just don't have as much stamina but i always love that you're able to do so much :) if you ever need a topic to talk about, i'd love to hear your thoughts and feelings, as a professional artist, on the Shinhan controversy (refer to my latest video for more info) and maybe how it may or may not be similar to Daniel Smith's Primatek scandal a couple years ago. alright, i'm off to watch your holster video! 😆
I'll think about it!
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video. Best wishes. ❤
Thank you! You too!
I saw your pop cycle picture on cup and bag. Awesome
Thanks 😊
Lovely Sat chat as always! I wonder if a local high school or college has a ceramics class with a kiln that would allow people use it for a fee? Though the idea of making pottery just for the process and not the final product sounds so fun!
Hi Lindsay, I made an air dry clay project last year and I used min wax polycrylic on it.
Thanks! I have that too!
"Not to be a tribute to our fantasy selves!" YES! Guilty!
Thanks for todays Sat Chat, great topics! I'm off to meet a friend and we are going to see Exorcism. It's been a while since I've seen a movie in the theatre. Have a great weekend!
Have fun! I love horror movies, please let me know how it is!
Those little palettes are so cute, have you a video how to make them? Thank you in advance. great Saturday chat hugs Liz x
I have a video on the palette holders.
Maybe you have outgrown your original TH-cam name, “Frugalcrafter”. Now your channel could be renamed “Lindsay’s Creative Life”! That title fits your personality and encourages you to embrace and treasure your creative spirit!
You have been an inspiration and companion for all of your viewers who love and need to create!
Oh dude, so when I got my little mini wooden one you got for $7 it was $20!!! It was a couple years ago and has enamel in the wells and on the mixing side but dang if Amazon don't remind me every single time I look at any other palette, ever. 😂 ya know the ol purchased in yada yada stuff it throws in the mix to see if ya might wanna reorder or whatever 😂😂 I've actually seen these as cheap as $3.99 now but ships from China
Wow, that's crazy!
Hello Lindsay, loved today’s Sat Chat! I was wondering if you ever sold any prints of your work? If so where can I find them. Thanks!
No, physical sales are rough. I might do a calendar one day. I occasionally sell originals if they are not done in sketchbooks tho.
I looked through the artists bags and mugs and I found several that I want! 😁 I guess I’ll do eeny meeny miny mo. 😂😂
Any purchase helps the charity:)
Just noticed on Amazon that the full set (30) Faber Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolor Pen (marker) has been reduced 40% to $84.00. Great buy!
Please take this down Lindsay if this is inappropriate of me to mention.
I have a few of these and they are wonderful!!
Good to know! AlwYs check blick too because they often have the same price.
You are right! They do!!
I just visited Doodlewash and seen your popscicles on a mug and pouch. What is the expiration date for purchase?
I think the shop is only open through 7/31
You are so adorable!
Awww, thank you!
Good morning Lindsay...such great topics today. What have I been "forcing to fit" in my life? This is a loaded question for me but I appreciate it because I will dig deeper into this subject...my short answer would be relationships...so eye opening...thank you. Also can you tell me the name of the you tube video you mentioned about the person who sold their business and got rid of their cabinets? This intrigued me and I'd like to watch it. Have a wonderful weekend ❤❤

@@thefrugalcrafter thank you
Not sure where you got the tiny wood palette.. but I got mine on Temu for I think 4 bucks or so. They also have a ton of mini tins that are super cute.
I haven't shopped there.
I subscribed to @CautionArtistatPlay, hope you will do an Art Chat with her! Love her colored pencil work so much. She's so sweet, hope her husband found work quickly.
He did! They ate a sweet couple!
Do you think that part of finding your creative style is trying out all the different mediums? I'm struggling to find what works for me. I love love art. But am pretty bad at it. Should I buy books and learn about light and composition first? And color mixing? I've played w Acrylics, they dry to fast. I like watercolor. I am drawn to detail work though. But hate markers lol. I live in an apartment so can't do oils. I'm so confused lol!!!
We all learn differently. I learn by doing. I don't grasp stuff my trading, I have to get in there but we ate all different. It sounds like you might enjoy colored pencils tho and you can use them over watercolor.
Tyfs..ray of cups. 😎
You bet!
Hey Lindsay, as far as loosing weight, I’ve been meaning to go for a walk every day, ( I’m quite heavy and feel that I don’t want people to see me..:) ) And have not been yet. And to up the ante I’ve been imagining myself skateboarding…and even bought a new skateboard but I have very bad balance and walk with a cane 😅, what would you do if you were me ?😂
Turn the skateboard into an art project, go crazy on it, then hang it in your studio space to represent your free spirit! Please don't hurt yourself. It took me months to recover from a trip and fall accident and that was without wheels under my feet!😂
@@lynnephelps2370 thanks !
Get out there and walk. Nobody is going to judge you (and if they do its more about them than you) and you might even inspire others to get moving as well. I was inspired by a neighbor who started running every day and posting her treadmill distance and sweaty selfies on her Instagram. It was motivating to see. There are neighbors who I have seen jogging and walking for years. One jogger I call "the fit lady" and there is a handsome older couple I call the "LL Bean" couple because they look like they could be in the catalog and they are very nice too! I think im called "pennys mom-my dog lol!" You will meet others when you walk and you might even find a walking buddy. It's great when that happens. Or download some podcasts or bring a radio to listen too. It's really a lovely part of the day! The best time to start is today!
@@thefrugalcrafter Thanks very much for the motivation! I have a fur baby too! (my dog )and she’s been sick, and I’ve been worried about her and she could benefit from the exercise 😊
Start inside for one thing. Even with a broken ankle, I reached my steps goal of 5000, just in my house (I had to get my house ready for a person recovering from surgery-me!). I had a friend helping me too. Then start small , just around the block once. I figured out I can hit 4 miles a day easily if I walk around the block twice, and run 2 short errands, like post office and picking up milk
I always love Sat chat. Did you say you read The Ferryman by Justin Cronin? Did you like it? I just didn't like the vibe from that book. I liked his other ones.
Yes! I loved it! I started the passage and was enjoying it but not as much as he ferryman.
Super
Thanks
Is there a difference in the 48 pans besides 4 less colors from the 52 pan?
I want to make the same earth tones are in the 48 pans
The 48 set is the 36 set plus 12 metallic. The onl metallic in the 52 set are gold and silver but there ate pastels added. I don't think all the colors from the 36 set are in there tho. I'd have to double check. You can see a swatch on amazon.
You don't have to check, I can! Thank you!
Could use an old purse!
See if any friends have a kiln they would let you use, my friend had 3 that she got super cheap. Or maybe if the schools that you have helped at have one
Hi - do you have a World Watercolor Month coupon code this year? Thanks!
I don't
My evil twin Mewslis logic - If I buy 3 balls of yarn, but only pay the cost of 2 THEN that means the cost of the yarn is lowered. ( and then you may or may not buy further balls of yarn)
Haha, love it!
🇬🇧🥰
Hey. It was a pattern. Patterns are expensive these days. lol.
Thanks for the idea about the snaps. Better than Velcro for book closures
Stoicism and minimalism are akin to essentialism that I have been reading lately. I’m not big into journaling but I bought a guided journal for stoicism. There are so many things I want to do. But reality has arrived at Age 73. I need to make plans and stick to ‘em.
Don’t wait.
Yes! I started listening to the daily stoic last year!
