I was injured in a car accident, was retired from my job of 25 years. I felt so useless as I had always been very active and fit. Discovering decoupage was a life saver as it was something useful and interesting that I could do. The pleasure of turning something old and useless into a beautiful and useful thing is so rewarding. I just wanted to thank you and make you aware of not only how much pleasure your sharing of knowledge gives but also how much it has helped me cope with my new way of life. It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to send you that message.
+Vivien3108 aww Vivien-your message has made my whole week. Thank you so so much. I am so happy that you have done something so positive with what you could. Congratulations on taking the high road-I know some people who prefer to just complain. I admire you for all of the work that it's taken you to get here. Thank you again Vivien, it was very very nice of you to take the time to write to me. Hugs! Patti
That's beautiful, you have inspired me to learn how to decoupage. With your tutoring I have managed to do furniture as well as small items. I'd like to thank you for opening up a whole new world to me. It's extremely kind of you to share your knowledge and expertise.
+Vivien3108 What a great message for me this morning! Thank you so much Vivien. I love hearing this. (or reading it) I am so excited by how much you can do with decoupage that I wanted to share it. I can make something old "new" again and I thought, "Do other people know you can do this?" I'm so happy you found my channel! Patti
OMGoodness.....I've recently been ...bedridden and now feel I can make/reuse etc..items to .... make for my grandchildren....THANK YOU SOOO VERY MUCH.....
+Josephine Tyree aww, it's my pleasure Josephine! I hope you watch some more of the videos-I'm always turning something old into something new! :) thank you.. Patti
cynthia lynn LOL, I hope that's a good thing. There used to be a lady who went on the Carol Duval show, she was very sweet, but wow, did she ever sound like she had just discovered gold while making her crafts. I think she was a kindergarten teacher so maybe she was used to being enthusiastic for the kids. I sure miss that show!Patti
You are so Talented. Years ago I got a similar jewelry box from a thrift shop for only $4.00, it's already white and distress because it's got some time on it. But this video has given me a Great Idea as to how to spruce it up a bit. Since yesterday I've been watching your videos and I tell ya they just get better and better. Thank so much.
+Elizabeth Rodriguez Thank you Elizabeth! I love to hear that, (that my video's are getting better and better) I aim to please. I would love to see your jewelry box when you are done, it sounds so pretty! Patti
I've never really been a fan of decoupage until now. you have created some beautiful pieces. I can't wait to do my first project. And again you're killing me with the opening screen credits. I love them.
Hi Patti What a lovely Jewelry box!!! I love repurposing things like that. I had to laugh when you took out the alcohol :) I do the exact same thing, I alcohol everything I bring home from the thrift store. Great video today Patti!!!
Deneen Lotz LOL Thanks Deneen, I was hoping that didn't sound rude, like I was giving it a silkwood scrubdown. But there are a few virus's going around right now, no need to pick one of those up at the thrift store. Thanks for your compliment too!Patti
Everything you do is beautiful I need to get inspired to do an antique trunk the decapodge is fun it's the painting I dread I'm so messy I would love seeing you do a vintage trunk ❤️
Absolutely amazing what you do with decoupage and napkins =) I am a new subbie but am totally addicted to watching. I am attempting to decoupage vases and we shall see how it goes. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring.
Amy Taylor Thank you so much Amy! I'm happy for you because you will probably start to look at everything you have in a new light now. (and things you don't have yet) There IS so much you can do with decoupage! :)Patti
Can't wait to do this to my jewelry armoire and the top of my nightstands! That top coat is really gonna help me!! (Well, the triple thick for the tops of the nightstands!)

Thank you Terri! If you can work near your computer you can do this step by step, so that you feel a little more confident while you do it. :) Please let me know how your projects turn out. If I can help I will. Patti
This is so beautiful Patti and I swear it's like u know me lol....I have an antique jewelry box that I bought some chalk paint for and now I have ideas how to make it gorgeous thanx to u and FYI love the silver nails and u didn't have to mess them up lol..thanx Patti :)
ebania varon LOL, you SO understand me about my nails. My husband said I'm always fretting a out my hair, though not out loud. He jokes that he has not had to buy shampoo for himself once since we've been together b/c I almost never finish a bottle, I'm onto something new. I have very thin straight fine hair, and I'm always trying to thicken it. I'm so happy you could find this video at just the right time Ebania. Great minds do think alike. :)Patti
Awwwww I'm sure u hubby finds u sexaaay lol and actually ppl swear by castor oil(they sell it on amazon for hair)..it smells odd but in my opinion it really works. I used it after a dye thinned my bangs. It took maybe 30 days or more to see some results and after 4-5 months it's really full so it does work. I'm going to check out those links you sent me! Thank you again! (my husband is always complimenting me-he's a good man. ) Patti
Wow so beautiful, thanks for sharing. I believe our Tuesday morning is closing, 😞 any other suggestions on we're to get these beautiful napkins? I'm working on a project myself I think I might just try stamping my image and coloring it on tissue paper if I can't find them.
Rebecca Levan Rebecca, I love Tuesday morning but I also buy the majority of my napkins on my website. I'll provide a link here but what you can do is click on any picture of a napkin or any other product on the page, then in the search above - name any kind of napkin that you want. French Script, Romantic napkins, Cabbage Rose,Hydrangea, you'll see that a whole lot of options come up. You can also do a search on that same page for Michele designs napkins. They make some lovely napkins! I hope the Tuesday Morning near you doesn't close-I do love that store. upcyclewithdecoupage.vpweb.com/blog/2015/07/29/DIY-Romantic-Coasters-Decoupage.aspx Hope that helps! Patti
+fariha87 do you have a smaller box you can practice on? You can even use a cereal box. Paint it and if you mess it up you won't care. :) I hope you give it a try, thank you Fariha! Patti
Hi Patti, I love all you do, wonder if your book is available in the UK? Thanks to you I now have a lovely collection of pretty napkins and have thoroughly enjoyed upcycling all sorts of containers, so a huge thank you for sharing and inspiring, hugz, Anne xx
Anne Elder You are so sweet Anne! Thank you. Yes, my publisher is in the UK, they go by the name of Skoobebooks. I'll provide the link here for you. www.skoobebooks.co.uk/product/upcycle-with-decoupage/ and I'm so happy you found decoupage to be as enjoyable as I do. There's a page on Facebook called Mason Jar Madness and Decoupage. One of the moderators is from the UK and does lovely work on furniture. There are several newbies there too. They have contests, they have a buy sell exchange program for napkins and you can find a lot of inspiration on the page. If you want to friend them, please tell them that Patti from youtube sent you. Thank you again Anne!Patti
Oh that you so much for all this info, I will go to the facebook group and cant wait to get my hands on your book. You are an amazing talented lady and an inspiration, big hugz, Anne
+seriouslyscrapping Hello Irene and thank you! Yes you can use Gesso, it's the original chalk paint. I believe Gesso is the Italian word for chalk. :) Patti
Love your work and videos, so nice of you to share. One question-where do you buy those very small sponge paint rollers you use? I cannot find any that size (about 1 or 2 inches.). Any source info would be appreciated.
+ninibah Hello Ninibah, I know what you mean, those brushes are NOT easy to find. I find them in the art department in Michaels stores-not in the craft section. If you go into the art section of the store, they have more expensive paints, brushes, canvases and all types of art supplies. For some reason I find those brushes in that department. I also found them most recently in Joannes fabric store-also in the art section. Hope this helps! Patti
Thanks for the reply-I have looked there, and found really nices brushes, but have not found the small sponge rollers. I'll keep checking. And thank you again for doing these great tutorials!
+Marianne Facultatif Bonjour , je me sers milieu découpage pour le transfert - je utiliser l'eau sur le papier une fois la colle de découpage dries- Je espère que cette aide . :)Patti
Hi Patti!! I love what you do! and your voice!!! lol. I have a question, if i don't have chalk paint, could I apply acrylic paint instead? and what preparation would it need? Thank you!!! =)
very beautiful patti where can i find these napkins i havent seen it on your website store? I was also looking for the one that was in the Porcelain Container into for Tea Bags. i really Love your work :)
Mai El Bahnasy Thank you so much. I think the question of napkins is the most common one I get. When I use a new napkin they sell out quickly and when I use an old one people have a hard time finding it, I'm sorry. I wish I had more control over that. But I will say that I get some of my napkins and rice paper here, decoupagedesignsusa.com/t/decoupage-napkins and I find the prettiest napkins at a store called Tuesday Morning. The tea bag container napkins did come from that store. Ebay is another good source for napkins. Let me know how you make out ok? Patti
karen loague Hello Karen, and thank you! No, the inside of the box had that lovely rich velvet perfectly attached. It was in such good shape, I don't think this box was ever used. If the inside was bare wood, I would have either painted it or I may have added a few flowers from the napkins along the bottom. Patti
Hello , Your work is beautiful , I tried decoupage recently so I m a beginner. Got some problems with it As when I applied glue on the top of tissue as you did in this video , it suddenly crumbled n lot of wrinkles. And on the second piece of decoupage I tried the decoupage glue on the surface first then sticking the tissue on to it then with cling film smoothening , it came out to be good with almost no wrinkles n then I applied a top coat of decoupage glue on the top it again wrinkled and now these wrinkles did not go away , please suggest where am I going wrong ?
I think she added water to the glue so in was not so thick and that made it easier to apply napkin to box. Make sure you let it dry before you add another coat on top of the paper. Make sure you only put a coat on top of the dry paper, so you can apply and smooth it at the same time.
Maybe practice with the napkin on something before you put it on to your project. Did you remember to separate the napkin, because it is usually 2 layered. I haven't tried napkins. I'd rather do it with regular paper, such as sheet music, dictionary pages, pictures cut out of old books. Pretty napkins can also cost quite a bit.... I'm too cheap for that, especially when I have tons of old sheet music to use and lots of pictures that I have cut out of books already.
Hello Ms. Elhoff, I noticed in this tutorial, in printing out the wording, you mentioned, to "Print it out backwards", I'm sorry, but, I'm not sure, that I understand how to do this. Would you elaborate on this just a little? Thanks. Antoinette
Antoinette Lee Hello Ms. Lee, (it's fine to call me Patti if you would like. I'll send you a tutorial on a way to reverse the image but the way I do it is, when I hit print from my computer - a box pops up with options of different types on it, one of the options says , "flip image" sometimes it will say reverse. So that is how I do it I'm also going to send you a link to a blog post on another way to do it, and if worse comes to worst and you're still having trouble, you can find a lot of images on the Graphics Fairy site that are already in reverse. So when you hit print, it will print it out backwards. I hope this helps, and here's the link for you. thegraphicsfairy.com/how-to-reverse-images-for-transfers/ Patti
+Matariki Azul What country are you in Matariki? There's a page on Facebook called Mason Jar Madness and Decoupage-there are people from different countries on there-they may be able to help. Do a google search for floral napkins or French themed napkins and see what comes up where you live. :)
Cowgirlinheels Hi! This video is posted on my Facebook page, I can share it on yours if you would like. What's your name on Facebook? Of if you would like you can go to my page Upcycle with Decoupage and page down to the video, and share it. I haven't heard about How to and Style not working anywhere. I'm curious as to what's happening with that. :) Let me know if this helps. th-cam.com/video/DaOb2EE2yKk/w-d-xo.html Patti
Chico broke little girls skin at six months old and the small pet had to be given up by child's mother. Party would do grooming on Chico for about two years. I bet there is a chip of all my recordings and secret projects and plus califas has a chip as well. They cannot, talk but dogs can!

where can i find these napkins i havent seen it on your website store?
Patti
thank you so much patti
i learned alot from you & your amazing work :)
I love hearing that Mai El, thank you so much!

Thanks for the inspiration.
Your box is stunning. Did u paint the inside or do anything to it ? Love your videos
karen loague Hello Karen, and thank you! No, the inside of the box had that lovely rich velvet perfectly attached. It was in such good shape, I don't think this box was ever used. If the inside was bare wood, I would have either painted it or I may have added a few flowers from the napkins along the bottom. Patti
patioelf thank you.xxx
Very nice! Thank you🙏
Hello ,
Your work is beautiful ,
I tried decoupage recently so I m a beginner. Got some problems with it
As when I applied glue on the top of tissue as you did in this video , it suddenly crumbled n lot of wrinkles.
I have seen even after drying it before the second coat on top it gives wrinkles
Hello Ms. Elhoff,
I noticed in this tutorial, in printing out the wording, you mentioned, to "Print it out backwards", I'm sorry, but, I'm not sure, that I understand how to do this.

Lovely!
what if i cant find any napkins with nice patterns????????????
+Matariki Azul What country are you in Matariki? There's a page on Facebook called Mason Jar Madness and Decoupage-there are people from different countries on there-they may be able to help. Do a google search for floral napkins or French themed napkins and see what comes up where you live. :)
Amazing!
That is so beautifulm

Cowgirlinheels Hi! This video is posted on my Facebook page, I can share it on yours if you would like. What's your name on Facebook? Of if you would like you can go to my page Upcycle with Decoupage and page down to the video, and share it. I haven't heard about How to and Style not working anywhere. I'm curious as to what's happening with that. :) Let me know if this helps. th-cam.com/video/DaOb2EE2yKk/w-d-xo.html

Linda caixa ❤️
Where is that puppie I bet he is about seven years old now, Miss So called owner of South African Borbels?
Chico broke little girls skin at six months old and the small pet had to be given up by child's mother. Party would do grooming on Chico for about two years. I bet there is a chip of all my recordings and secret projects and plus califas has a chip as well. They cannot, talk but dogs can!
It could have done with some fresh coat of cream/ivory paint..
😍😍😍
I won't shut up, y'all mad because I speak up!
