As a child, we would get up and go watch the 4th of July Parade. It had all sorts of politicians, businesses, churches, cars, bands, military veterans, horses, etc. People in the parade would throw candy and gifts to the children. After the parade, the city (which was built around a large lake) would have various activities such as canoe races, watermelon and pie eating contests and usually some form of entertainment like music or athletics. In the afternoon, families would get together for a cookout lunch that had grilled meats, corn on the cob, pies and various cold salads. In the evening, there would be a location in town where people could go with blankets to lie on the ground and watch fireworks. Also, some churches would have a worship service on that day with quasi-patriotic songs. It was always a fun time.

July 4 is big.. parades in villages and towns. Cookouts. Block parties. And of course fireworks from coast to coast. Around here (in the Washington DC area) local fireworks are done the day before and after the Fourth as the city of Washington puts on an incredible show (like most big cities) and those fireworks attract 100,000s of spectators . But really amyone from any country can celebrate with us- so go enjoy the day.

People can feel the shock waves! They fire a shot to let people know the show is about to begin. They fire in tune with "The Overture of 1812" too! Then during the grand finale moment, they fire in conjunction with the very big fireworks bursting in air! 🎆🎇 They weren't available though during their war efforts. There wasn't a show during the worst of the pandemic. 😢
One of the largest fireworks stores in the country (supposedly) is Shelton Fireworks. They have a HUGE store right off of I-10 (Eastbound-between Mobile, AL and Pensacola, Florida). It’s actually a chain of stores but during this time of year you can barely get in the door. They have literally tens of thousands of items. The best part? The exit right before them has a Buccees! 😂
Watching the fireworks over the water is gorgeous especially when you have an orchestra playing in the background as the fireworks are going off as we have in Nashville Tn.

There are limits of how big fireworks can be but they are still very large BUT in my area you can also go to one of the local Native American reservations that sell fireworks that are much larger than what you can buy normally. If you want to have a big enough firework that will shake your neighbors and your house, go there.

And miss out on the upstairs heat. 😛 I knew Leia would be all concerned about the animals dealing with the fireworks, and I know a lot of them really don't enjoy it. A friend of mine owns horses and a few of them have almost gone mad because of the fireworks, kicking at their stalls and breaking boards and injuring themselves (none badly, thank goodness) in their panic. It's just awful. 😞 A couple of friends of mine who served in the Army in Afghanistan and Iraq can't handle the fireworks. One of them wraps scarves around her head to cover her ears and she rocks back and forth while her husband holds her to make it through. The other one goes camping with several of his other military buddies out into the local national park so they can all be far far away from the explosions on the 4th of July. It can be tough. But the time with family and friends is often great. I'm getting together with my Mom and stepdad (he was in the Army) and my sister and her family tomorrow to grill out and enjoy spending time together. Always a good time! Side story: Back when I was married years ago I had a stepson. I was helping his study his history when he was 10, and they had been studying the 1776 Revolutionary War against England. At one point this little smart aleck gave me a look and with a little grin he asked, "Did you fight in that war, or were you too old?" I had to laugh because it was too funny not to. 😛 Kids are great though. 😀

We have the windows open this evening and, yes, it sounds like a small battle is going on in the city. This is just people shooting off their own fireworks. The big city-run displays will be tomorrow night, of course, weather permitting. For us, it is interesting that people do NOT know that we gained our independence from the UK. So did Canada, but MUCH more gradually.
I've had a pretty decently-sized firework detonate in my face once before. My dad, my brother, and myself all had ringing ears and burn marks on our clothes and skin.
We don't buy fireworks from the back of sketchy trucks, we now have tents in grocery store parking lots that sell them, and lots of stores have big displays of them. You can buy as much as you want! I don't bother most years because the neighbors all buy a lot of them.

That form of writing is Calligraphy, which is not the same as Cursive. Cursive is a faster way to write where we don't have to take the pen off the paper. Calligraphy is very slow and methodical letters formed into an art form. Typically for important documents.
Unfortunately our 4th celebration has been cancelled for the first time ever. Our county seat, Oroville California has a serious out of control wild fire that is threatening tens of thousands of homes and all our fire fighting resources are there trying to save homes and the Oroville Dam. Our entire county has had firework celebrations cancelled as we don't have the necessary fire patrol persons available for safety.
You guy's never watched the Oversimplified videos on The American Revolution? Oversimplified makes some pretty good video to teach you about history. Cartoons are used to make the videos and also has a lot of humor in them to make it more interesting for kids. Oversimplified also has videos that talk about The American Civil War, World War 1, World War 2 and other ones as well. A lot of other people on TH-cam have reacted to Oversimplified videos before.
There are places that ban personal fireworks all the time, but most places it depends on the possibility of causing a fire, so it can change every year. Yes, they sell fireworks for New Year too. Firing guns is banned all the time, because you don't know where it will come down, but "out on the farm" probably no one will complain.
We have railroad car containers where they sell fireworks. Not everyone buys them out of a van 😂😂😂. As far as food goes Joel Hansen is one of those guys that eats massive quantities of food. Boston has awesome fireworks -- in fact you may be able to watch on TH-cam -- The Boston Pops Orchestra plays to a huge crowd by the Charles River and then there is a HUGE fireworks display over the water set to the music!!! It is televised here in the US and it is tradition to watch it every year - we turn off all the lights and turn up the big screen TV!! Your friends are lucky if they are able to attend any portion of it!! It is awesome. Most cities have some type of celebration....I live outside of Columbus Ohio (Capital of Ohio) - and we have what is called Red, White and Boom! It starts early in the day and there are live bans, concessions (food) and then at dark the huge fireworks - again set to music - start and I will say - it's pretty incredible! Hopefully TH-cam will show some of it for you all to see that way maybe!! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! 🎆🎇💥💥💥❤🤍💙 💥💥💥🎆🎇

A lot of soldiers who fought literally gave up their guns and went into farming, tilling the soil into the best fertile places on the planet. We like to simply return to life doing something to make future generations happy. Others like Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett explored westward always reporting what they had seen and learned. They fought native Americans and blazed trails across the country that we still have today.

To be fair, England did not colonize the US as we know it today. They colonized 13 states or "colonies" along the East Coast. This is why the Northeast US, where I live, is called "New England".

Canada also celebrates an Independence Day. It is a different month and day. But they get together with family and eat all of their favorite foods.

Except that New York is not a New England state. New England is comprised of six states: Massachusetts, Rhode Island,, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

A fairly good brief explanation of what Independence Day is all about here in America. I strongly encourage "Graham Family Reacts" to react to the reading of the Declaration of Independence by Max McLean. It is, in my opinion one of the most meaningful and eloquent documents ever written, keeping in mind, of course, that I am an American, so clearly biased. For what it's worth, I don't get the hotdog eating contests either, I find them ridiculous and disgusting. I have friends here in America from Slovakia--I'm happy the Prime Minister recovered from the assassination attempt on his life, and was pleased to see how well Slovakia did in the Euro Cup this summer. Cheers.

Funny thing about the hotdog eating -0 the man that set the record isn't a big guy, kind of small actually. I myself can eat 4 - if I am starving and it still would take a lot more then 10 min. I don't know if he still holds the record. He had an Asian name if I remember correctly.

That form of writing is Calligraphy, which is not the same as Cursive.
Cursive is a faster way to write where we don't have to take the pen off the paper.
Calligraphy is very slow and methodical letters formed into an art form. Typically for important documents.
Unfortunately our 4th celebration has been cancelled for the first time ever. Our county seat, Oroville California has a serious out of control wild fire that is threatening tens of thousands of homes and all our fire fighting resources are there trying to save homes and the Oroville Dam. Our entire county has had firework celebrations cancelled as we don't have the necessary fire patrol persons available for safety.

You guy's never watched the Oversimplified videos on The American Revolution? Oversimplified makes some pretty good video to teach you about history. Cartoons are used to make the videos and also has a lot of humor in them to make it more interesting for kids. Oversimplified also has videos that talk about The American Civil War, World War 1, World War 2 and other ones as well. A lot of other people on TH-cam have reacted to Oversimplified videos before.
The 13 red stripes on the US flag represent the original 13 British colonies.

There are places that ban personal fireworks all the time, but most places it depends on the possibility of causing a fire, so it can change every year. Yes, they sell fireworks for New Year too. Firing guns is banned all the time, because you don't know where it will come down, but "out on the farm" probably no one will complain.

The ban on fireworks is to cut down on fires. Not unusual but Florida has been getting a lot of rain so fireworks are allowed.
We have railroad car containers where they sell fireworks. Not everyone buys them out of a van 😂😂😂.
As far as food goes Joel Hansen is one of those guys that eats massive quantities of food. I will eat 2 or 3 hotdogs and maybe a hamburger later .

Boston has awesome fireworks -- in fact you may be able to watch on TH-cam -- The Boston Pops Orchestra plays to a huge crowd by the Charles River and then there is a HUGE fireworks display over the water set to the music!!! It is televised here in the US and it is tradition to watch it every year - we turn off all the lights and turn up the big screen TV!! Your friends are lucky if they are able to attend any portion of it!! It is awesome.
Most cities have some type of celebration....I live outside of Columbus Ohio (Capital of Ohio) - and we have what is called Red, White and Boom! It starts early in the day and there are live bans, concessions (food) and then at dark the huge fireworks - again set to music - start and I will say - it's pretty incredible! Hopefully TH-cam will show some of it for you all to see that way maybe!! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! 🎆🎇💥💥💥❤🤍💙 💥💥💥🎆🎇
That 68 hot dog record was broken and is now 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes.. also the reason why they do it is because free food mostly and of course the record holder is a multimillionaire from winning contests and in sponsorships

4th of july is actually my dad's birthday as well so we get cake and fireworks

Another way to look at things is this; during World War 1 and World War 2, the many vast old colonies of Britain came to her aid to win those wars. Now we are all united in NATO. Separate but equal.
King George was actually not in his right mind when he lost the revolution. He was believed to be bipolar or something similar as his mental state deteriorated over time. George died a raving lunatic at balmoral. But in a brief moment of lucidity he praised Washington for his return to civilian life as a farmer without anything to hold him back. A lot of soldiers who fought literally gave up their guns and went into farming, tilling the soil into the best fertile places on the planet. We like to simply return to life doing something to make future generations happy. Others like Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett explored westward always reporting what they had seen and learned. They fought native Americans and blazed trails across the country that we still have today.

To be fair, England did not colonize the US as we know it today. They colonized 13 states or "colonies" along the East Coast. This is why the Northeast US, where I live, is called "New England".
