    The Silat is a martial art originates in the South-east Asia, mostly in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei and Phillipines. However, there are many sects in Silat such as Silat Sendeng, Silat Gayung Fathani etc. (mostly localized according to their master's origin). And Silat also have some movement related to Islamic elements, explained by this guy. The stance of silat is called "buah (fruit)".

    I'd say this guy is at a basic/intermediate level of fighting. He knows things. But the masters of Silat I've seen are goooood. Good he knows the true fundamentals of martial arts though. This openness concept. Although I will say, from my experience, intent is not enough. You must have the mind, the body, the techniques and the practice to know and to apply. This is where he's lacking. Also, to draw knowledge from all sources. From all martial arts is better than drawing from only one. Silat embodies a good proportion of them but not all - no strikes like boxing. No clinching like muay Thai. It's for self defense, and only really this. But against a fighter :/ no way.

    • @richardchoongmingslater6100
      @richardchoongmingslater6100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to add, I think, like many masters, they fall prey to thinking they have found a true way or style that can work in all situations. They start to feed off their own ego. I feel this guy is doing that a little. He reacts too quickly and then again too slowly to apply those techniques in real life. No one will try and come at you with a punch like that c'mon..

      @@kiddynamite1985 yeppers. Someone who knows how to fight would very clearly show you why the movement is bad for you. For example in karate or wing chun they’ll say oh no move like this instead and demonstrate the skill.
      In wrestling of course there are illegal moves for competition purposes. However, usually if you stand up straight you are told don’t do that let me show you why. Your instructor will then double leg you. Or if put your hand in a certain position in refree position in the second period you are shown why that’s bad because you could get a joint hyper extended.
      In boxing you are told to keep your fist near your face and elbow near your organs to protect yourself. If you do something you shouldn’t it’s not because it’ll make the instructor look silly it’s because it could get you hurt.
      With this stuff if I got into a south paw stance I’d be told nah don’t do that because it’s of Saitan and the dark side of the moon and the stars are misaligned and your chakras become unbalanced. It’s so stupid people fall for this stuff.
