This is absolutely great. I've learned that traditional martial arts can always be integrated into modern day combat systems for enhanced learning and even realizations about moves yet to be discovered.
I love this. It's hard to explain via video to someone who hasn't rolled before and doesn't know how it feels, but for me it was a good refresher on the fundamentals.
Chi Sao is called sticking hands because its a drill to bring sensitivity to your body about your opponents intentions and weaknesses. Just like driving a car it becomes second nature and you eventually do it automatically (we used to do it blindfold) but as in driving you can develop bad habits if you aren't learning properly such as keeping your elbows in otherwise your structure is vulnerable to an inside strike. If your partner doesn't take advantage and you keep practicing with your elbows out it can be hard to correct when you're relaxed. A bit like turning your wheels into a turn as you wait for a gap in the opposing traffic - if you get hit from behind your car will be forced into the oncoming traffic so keep your guard tight and drive defensively.
Amazing! I'm looking at 1974 issue of now defunct magazine Inside Kung Fu. Sifu Ben Der comparing Wing Chun against White Crane's Quentin Fong! Keep on keeping on!
So where’s the Chi Sau? All I’m seeing is pun sau.I’m with Ip Ching lineage, my Sifu is Sifu directly from Ip Ching, Ving Tsun Ip Ching Athletic Association .
I have trained this techniques for over 35 + yrs. combined with other systems, If one sticks to the rules it won't work in the street, one must adapt and flow with the opponents attack, not to think about any technique but react with the technique, to have it as a reaction, and forget about the horse stance, triangular footwork will be a lot better. Also this techniques are not meant to go for a fight but for a defense, the wise practitioner will understand this.
how come you have trained over 35 yrs and only have such poor understanding of this system.......true what you are talking about are truth but sorry Wingchun system never is what you thought as well, it s just a training drill for you to understand and gain something, it s not the way you have to act exactly like in fight ,of course you can combine others but wingchun only also has its own way to work, but not like what you thought lol, I won't explain detailed because you may not believe or can't understand anyway, but you are not completely correct for sure lol

@@anibalzen Nope, I understand. I don't stick to WC stubbornly and trying to defend "my style", I m trying to say, your practical way works your way, it doesn't mean WC system doesn't have its own practical way, it may differ due to styles or even various due to lineage, but it is not what you thought, Bruce modified WC for his own reason, it s not about something is not practical so he evolved, if it is what you think then there s no way for Bruce to "evolve" based on WC , actually it s not evolve,it s just some of you misunderstood or something you saw misleading, because how you evolve something that is original useless to much practical way , if you do then you created something, not improved something. Anyway,in conclusion, it s about how you choose, I m not trying to imply whose choice is right or wrong, just trying to tell you the way your thinking WC system is not what we do , we have our choice that s it.......Hope you understand I m not a native English speaker but I teach WC in my country, our master living and teaching WC overseas, so I just saw some comments and trying to explain something.

Chi Sau is a training method, not a fighting method, whose goal is to develop reaction, speed, and use the right defense at the right time, and it is currently used by many UFC fighters around the world.
Practice single sticky hands until you're able to roll and stick with one hand first. So many student try to skip over the essential development steps.
I'm a Wing Chun student. This is the right way to Chi Sau. But the main reason one would get tired is because the opponent may be leaning. That should not happen.
It is far from easy. Learning to roll is extremely awkward and takes lots of practice to get it proper. You are constantly having to pay attention to your two arms/hands doing totally different motions simultaneously, plus sensing and reacting to your partner from the tan/huen/fook initiation/transition and fook to bong transition.
If a system is too systematic then that system will fail in real fight. I mean think about all the techniques you need to learn and think in your head that this hand is like this and the other hand should be like this then you wake up in a hospital bed with family loved ones around your bed! In fighting, everything should come naturally . you have no time to think! The best technique one can learn to win the fight is to keep composure and relax in every situation. Once you have this then you are more likely to get out of the fight safe in one piece. I used to practice WC and some other styles but it takes a life time to understand the style. In real life anything goes. There are no rules no referee so who cares about what's right or wrong, what's legal and what's illegal?
I think one of the reasons for mastering the stances, steps, chi sao, etc is basically the same with learning the form & techniques of other martial arts styles, and that is through rote learning over time it becomes natural for the learner to react to an attack in a split second and hopefully fight off the attacker. Wing Chun for all I know is more about defending yourself from an attack and leaving in one piece than going to the cage. I like what Bruce Lee said about basic training: "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."
Experience is a good Teacher, and if you were patient and practice Daily over & over it comes Naturally and you won't have to Think about it. No Trolling here, I Humbly disagree.
I know a lot of you may feel confused by watching this video only,I believe this is just for demonstration only so no deeper understanding and overall comprehension of the whole system so yeah If any of you have questions or being serious to know this system you may have to search more or even find a good teacher. What you are talking about are definitely true as well but the system is not what you think as well, this is just for very beginners in the system, just like you learn another language so you have to memorize things from very basic, after that it comes with natural reaction, and your structure your posture your punching kicking be natural and powerful then you have the ability to control yourself as well, you have time to think legal or illegal but not think about techniques. Just like you learn anything else basically
