Part 2: Monster Swarm Queens Gone Wild: Splitting after the Swarm

- John & Cora split last year's monster swarm hive after it swarms with multiple queens. See them split with queen cells, hear a piping queen, and switching hive locations for the split.

Another great job Cora!!! A heck of a snag of that queen. Nothing you learn is a waste, learn as much as you can. What also great is by teaching Cora, you're also helping to teach others that may not have the guidance.
Yes! Thank you!
That dental mirror mentioned at 5:10 was exactly what I was thinking.
This has been a good year for me while splitting a hive I had a swarm come across my neighbors yard take residence up in the box I had prepped. In 10 years of beekeeping thats the first time I've had that happen. It was incredible. Getting ready to pack my hives up and head to the homestead in Kentucky. Two more days.
That is awesome!

9:25. Queen was piping. So cool!!!
I Definitely heard the piping when the girls said they heard it lol. 😅
I didn't, old dad hasn't taken very good care of his hearing unfortunately. #RTBBF
@@CentralBeekeepersSupply It's ok we got ya. I thought I was cool when I heard it I automatically thought omgoodness I bet that queen came out and then Cora said it was open I thought it was cool. Keep doing what u all do. I'm so glad I found your channel. I binged your channel I can't wait to see how the longhive is doing
Great to see how to manage those cells! Sad about Pistol -
I appreciate your the comment. Thank you
Let's not forget Momma....what queen sporting master!
The lady can spot a queen!
Great video, as usual. I love them all. I'm so sorry to hear about Pistol. Fellows like him aren't pets. They are members of the family.
I don't know the date this video was made or the air temp in Arkansas, but my OCD kicked in anyway when I saw those cells exposed to the weather for so long. They were likely fine, but I worried anyway.
We do miss Pistol, and yes he had made family status.
Brood was fine, just cloudy that day if remember correctly wasn't to cool for the them. Sure wasn't to cool for them to swarm. lol
Thanks for watching
Your doing a good job.
Thanks Jay, I appreciate the kind compliment.
Hello John , I think it was two years ago I
had a bad season with my queens. Well this season is doing the same. I think most just did not make it back from there mating flight. I have not had but one swarm but I have got four swarm. Cora is going to end up with fifteen to twenty colonies down the road the way she is going. As always John I appreciate your video’s I just enjoy seeing what other Bee keepers are doing with their Bees an how there season is going. It is great seeing a family out doing thing together an enjoyable time together. Thanks
Thank you Kathy, I hope your bee season takes a turn for the better. #RTBBF!
never work with bees with ANY rings on, YOUKNOWHATIMEAN
About the question when it will hatch, not for at least several hours, otherwise you would hear piping.
Sorry to hear about Pistol, he looked like a fun puppy.
He was a dandy little dog!
Thanks
Amazing footage -and pretty similar to what I did the other day (that I asked you about in the "How to split a hive" video comments). I feel so much better now for watching this. Thank you for uploading!
Great! Thanks for watching
I love watching the family shenanigans..you're such a great family. Loved watching this. It's snowing here in Alberta today but we've had warm weather already and the bees were gathering willow pollen and poplar pollen. Can't wait for the spring blooms after the snowy days.
Hello from Arkansas!
We appreciate you watching our channel. #RTBBF
Really enjoyed watching you take care of that hive that swarmed. that is where i get most of my queens. If you can check a hive right after it swarms as a rule there will be 6 or more cells ready to hatch. It sure makes a split take off a lot faster than a walk away. You work'em exactly the same as me.
Nice to know you and I agree on the process.
Thanks for watching
Thank you great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I am impressed. Very impressive.
Thank you so much for your support!
And thanks for watching!
Crazy! Made me nervous😅
Don't be nervous. lol

Thank you
this was a GREAT Bee Show!!🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Thanks for taking your time to watch it. We appreciate it!
Ooh wow! I’m a new beekeeper and honestly I have learned so much out of your videos!!! Amazing 🤩 thanks you have answered so many questions. Greetings from northern California
Hello back California!
#RTBBF!
I have the same situation. I had a hive swarm and was able to capture and rehive that swarm. While Inspecting the mother hive I found queen cells. Being a double deep I left 2 cells in bottom put a super on then the other deep on top with 2 queen cells. I removed all other queen cells. I noticed that you left multiple cells in a hive. Can you have too many queen cells in a hive or do you just allow them to fight it out for the strongest queen remaining. Upon another inspection I did find a virgin queen that did emerge. If I find 2 queens in this hive should I split the hive or let them fight things out? I found this video very interesting and informative
I left one and added two, because I was unsure of one.
I personally leave single virgin queen if I find her and tear down cells. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@@CentralBeekeepersSupply It just hit the nail on the head because I found a huge queen. I assume she had been mated because 3 times in size of first emerged queen.some others do keep multiple cells to requeen , just in case something happens. I did hear her piping
.. Were there two families here?🐝 🤔🙂
lol, turned into four!
