I always found that The Doors bass lines make for great practice. They're basic, not overly flashy, but hypnotic. Tracks like Light My Fire, Riders of the Storm, L.A. Woman, Roadhouse Blues have long-winded and repetitive sequences that really challenge your attention span - an aspect of playing that can be tricky for some.
I learned The Unknown Soldier and Wild Child for the band I used to be in. Really enjoyed playing both and may do a cover of 1 of them soon. Great job as always Paul. I watch all of these even when it’s bands and/or bass players I don’t know, or genres I am not really into as there are always things to learn.
Oh this was very cool. My friend and I were just having a discussion about this not too long ago after hearing Roadhouse Blues. We always heard Manzarek played bass with his left hand, but I had no idea how many other songs featured a bassist. Thanks for sharing this one Paul! Great job as always! I love this series.
I got some bassist recommendations! Chas Chandler of The Animals Mickey Madden of Maroon 5/Kara's Flowers (Maroon 5 also has another bassist now, Sam Farrar, but Mickey Madden is far more interesting) Eric Wilson of Sublime Playing Bass in Weezer (Matt Sharp, Mikey Welsh, and Scott Shriner)
My friends did some work on his100$ bass. He was completely satisfied with it, no need for anything fancy, I think it was a short scale Flying V.. Pretty sure it was used in Euripides Pants as well.
I don’t know I feel their sound sounds empty when it doesn’t have a real session bassist but maybe I’m just bias and overall not a big fan The mixing / panning on these old tracks sounds terrible, it just sounds odd when like the guitar is panned alll the way to the right like the one track. It just sounds awful and jarring.
The Doors always had a lot of great bass lines, both Ray and all the session players did such a killer job
Yes they did!
@@slippinjimmy6511 Yeah, guys like Larry Knechtel (I probably misspelled his name lol) but great on the first record
Great vid, as always. Just wanted to say, Morrison died in July of '71, and, of course, is a member of the 27 Club. Thanks.
Awesome video! Jerry Scheff is amazing and those bass lines and tone on "LA Woman" are amazing! Love those Doors blues! Thanks so posting!
The LA Woman album has some awesome bass parts. Hyacinth House is my favorite, and Jerry really cuts loose on the Changeling.
You read my mind and stole my thoughts 😉
Ray Manzarek and John Densmore were both great musicians
John Densmore still is! 😊

I've been listening to the Doors since I was 12, your assessment is totally spot on!
Jerry Scheff 🤘
Riders of the storm, Ghost song and the end, really nice bass on those.
The Ghost Song have a very cool funky bass line
Dear Paul Del Belo, here's a request, can you do a bass habits video for Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead?

No bass?🤨
What’s with the random George Harrison pic?
I’m guessing it’s Larry Knetchell on the left.
