Lancaster castle looks so dark and eerie! Those poor people who were tried as witches must have been terrified when they went there. Thank you for a spook-tacular tour!
Yeah Belinda, I can’t even imagine how they must of felt locked up awaiting their trial for something they all knew they were not. Absolutely ridiculous injustice. So sad. Thanks Belinda 😊😊❤️❤️
Lived all my life with a view of Pendle Hill through my window. In my younger days spent many summer nights with friends up Pendle scaring the wits out of each other Lol
Very interesting and informative about people they hung for being witches, but they were not! I love all of the wood carvings so much talent. I never seen anything like it! Great video and commentary from both of you. Have an awesome week ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Have a fantastic week yourself Susan, indeed they were not witches, absolutely ridiculous times! How ignorant of mankind! Thanks Susan ❤️😊❤️🙌👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🎃🎃🎃🎃
Another ripping adventure but with loads of interesting facts and like you both said a sad tale indeed. You two are going to be fit as a butchers dog with all these hill climbs. We know how you feel. Good work indeed Mark and Julie👻👍😊
Haha, but we soon give up!! 😂 but yes, we really do need to get our more, purely just for the exercise haha thanks Mark n Julie 😊😊❤️❤️🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️🧙♀️👻👻🎃🎃🎃🧙♀️🎃🎃
Congratulations on almost 4 k subscribers. That’s awesome. It’s amazing how you can watch many different shows in the same location but it’s a little better to see through the eyes of a friend and after so many videos getting to know you both I am sure many of us feel like we have friends we get to visit with weekly. The kindness and empathy extended to these poor people by you, who were victimized by greed hysteria or just plain hate is a wonderful thing to see. My grandmother always said hate was just fear spelled wrong. We always tend to hate what we fear and do not understand. Suffice to say that this was another enjoyable episode. Sending many good wishes and as always looking forward to the next video.
Thank you so much Kim, and yes, we all fear the unknown, back then it was even worse, the people in power used and abused their power to gain power and control over their fears, a bit like in todays world really, sad that not much has changed but only education. I think we are a long way away before our wars and greed comes to a stop. Much love Kim, thank you so much, be sure to have a great week and a happy Halloween day 😊😊❤️❤️🎃🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Indeed Brenda, it was all about power and control! Especially from the judge that was after Alice’s land for so long, perfect opportunity to agree with the accused of her being a witch! Such sad sad times for those poor women. Thanks for stopping by Brenda, Happy Halloween 😊😊❤️❤️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Ohhh isn’t it a beautiful building, been around it a few times. We really must get back and do a feature length video. Thank you so much Marie. Happy Halloween day 😊😊❤️❤️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🎃🎃🎃🎃
@@LancashireLarks Happy Halloween 🎃. Loving the videos 👌. You should make a visit to Towneley Hall and Gardens in Burnley. Its a Manor House dating back to the 13th Century, lovely museum inside and beautiful grounds and woodland trails
@@mariejoyce5150 We have seen a bit of Townley in Burnley, think there’s a coal mine under it all. Love Burnley, it’s one of the few towns in Lancashire that still has more than one factory chimney. I think we will look into this, thanks for the tip, any excuse to get to Burnley and I’m there haha. Great indoor market as well for the food 😂😊😊❤️❤️
@@LancashireLarks The food in the market is a contentious subject in Burnley a lot of the older generation hate it. We also have a small Toll House Museum by the canal. Your correct about the mines , my great Uncle was killed in a roof fall at Towneley Pit in the 1930s aged just 17 .
@@mariejoyce5150 that’s so sad Marie, sorry to hear about that. Tough times for sure back then. I didn’t know there was a bit of a problem with the older generation about the food market. To be honest when we go, I usual get one of the pies or sausage black pudding rolls. I’m not one really for the heavy foods on the back wall. Other days will just have a tea cake haha
I felt bad for you thinking the whole time you were walking uphill that you had to walk back to the car Thanks for sharing 👍♥️🗝️❤️👍👍 Sadly it only took one accusation from someone to be called a witch . In the mountains of Tennessee there were healers that were called witched And then in Salem they had witch trials I sure am glad today we don't have people acusd of that
Hi Mary, not sure where my reply went, I could of sworn I replied to this. I was mentioning about one of our up and coming videos where we give you a mention regarding the views of our English countryside 😊😊❤️❤️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🎃🎃
Thank you Rob and Collette for sharing this sad story with us. It's was terrible then and still is today, how people are treated so badly and even died just because they were different. I hope your week goes well, and you both take care. Till next time. Oh, Note to Rob, we do have many cobblestone roads and streets here in the USA. They are amazing to see, where ever they are.
Haha thanks for clearing up the cobble road situation, just that I didn’t see any when we was over there Katherine. So Collette was right as usual lol. It certainly was terrible times, and like you say, and still today, all about power and control. We hope you have a great week too. Thank you so much Katherine have a happy Halloween 🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃😊😊❤️❤️
This reminded me a lot of our Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts in 1628. Of course, y’all had lots more witches than your American cousins 🤣 Yes! We’ve seen those wonderful cobblestone roads when we were in Charleston, loved riding the horse and buggy over them. So much British history along our eastern coastline. Love it! Having British roots, the motherland is still close to my heart 💝 Loved the historical video guys, thank you very much. Love your thistle brooch, Collette. We are daughters of Scotland The Brave 🏴
Thank you so much Kathy, glad to hear you have some cobble roads to experience, I didn’t see want when we was over there. We will have to look into the Salen Witch Trials 🧙♀️ Happy Spooky Day! 😊😊❤️❤️🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🧙♀️👻🎃🎃
Some of those sculptures would really creep me out if I stumbled upon them without knowing they were there. Some of them would be awesome to have around our property! It is sad to think that people would be accused of being a witch simply for being different, looking different, or simply in the way of someone wanting something, charged with the felony of witchcraft and hung. Almost sadder is knowing people freely gathered around to watch such horrors of a hanging, bringing their children and some snacks like it was no more than a movie. Maybe that's why I prefer to stay home with the critters. I really enjoy going on these walks with you both. Until next time...
So true Derek, sad times from the past, I can’t imagine how they must of felt awaiting trial in those cells for a crime that was manufactured on fear. So glad we have tiny bit more eduction there’s days. But we still got a long way to go. ❤️❤️
