    Can somebody explain me why the uke's arm remains inactive while nague moves two steps? That kind of things make people distrust Aikido. (I hold IAF 5TH Dan)

      You would hardly get any answer until someone holding at least a 6TH Dan come here too

      After 4th Dan, promotions are not based on technical knowledge.

      When you are teaching a technique step by step (like frame by frame in pictures) it is easy to pick out flaws and criticize. When done in one motion (normal speed) the uke would not have time to react because his momentum would take him off balance. My students (actually only certain students) will sometimes say the same thing when slowly demonstrating step by step. They are silent after they have received the technique at normal speed. Aikido is non-stop motion. It must flow freely. Therefore, it is difficult to demonstrate with stop-action. However, it is necessary to show proper footwork, positioning and motion. Hope this helps.

      Just like in any other demonstration, the point is to demonstrate, not be in live resistance. Just like in Judo, the uke will usually blunder into giving you the opportunity to do this to them. Ueshiba, mind you, was never shy about striking to disrupt the opponent. Kano, mind you, was never shy about breaking someone down to make the throw easier.

      Why ? What they did ?

    at the very beginning of the video Sensei's arm is rigid at the elbow and shoulder, that's why the student couldn't do the technique, that's the only reason! Student's move was actually right and the fact that his arm and shoulder weren't relaxed DOESN'T matter at all. Sensei just didn't let him do his technique. AIKIDO IS NOT APPLICABLE without atemi and when uke knows what technique is going to be performed. 99% of Aikido teachers are fake and do not know anything about what they are teaching. Aikido is almost always misunderstood and learned very inappropriately.

      Aikido will not work without having a good base in other grappling art like Judo, Wrestling, BJJ and etc.

      Aikido is not made for fighting (it's Budo, not Bujutsu) and that's the main point, then what you said is basically right but, you know, there is no point in trying to make Aikido work in a ring because it is just not made for it.

      That is true. That is also why we do not have to call Aikido as a Martial Art or Self Defense system.

    • @vannigiulio440
      @vannigiulio440 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's the origin of all misunderstanding, the word "martial art", in western countries we call everything "martial art" while in Japan, for example, there are at least 4 different ways to call what we call "martial arts". Budo is not for fighting, Budo is a philosophy of life, a spiritual way. Bujutsu are the ancient/classical fighting sistems, Kakutogi are the sports like Bjj or MMA and Goshinjutsu is the self defense... it's ridiculous to ear of people that would like to use a Budo in a ring. They all use almost the same techniques but practiced in a completely different way since the goal is different. That's all.

      Aikido is not a martial art nor a self defense. Its a budo. A way of life. Most of the sensei out there has been teaching to the west that Aikido is a self defense system. They gave a false understanding bout Aikido.
