As one who was blessed with a wonderful man, 2 adopted children, married for 20 years and now widowed…I can just imagine that “Chocolate chips” will become a “code word” for newlyweds. ♥️
Love this interpretation of "It is not good for a man to be alone". This shows the importance of Church as a shelter and a community that eases the lives of those with no family. I also appreciate the compassion and care by Fr. Mike when handling the topic of couples with no children, and why they are also welcomed and loved by the Church and God. May God bless the Church and make us all a stronger family together. Amen

Thank you God for your gifted servant that you are blessing us through. Lots of love and prayers to Fr. Mike and to all of us who are in the boat of CIY.
Marriage is also a challenge to openness to fertility. The supreme gift of marriage is children and their education. It becomes the Domestic Church. We need to pray much for couples without children, so that their marriage can radiate charity, hospitality and sacrifice. Also pray for singles without a family that they get special affection of the church in their lives.
“Husbands, love your wives [with an affectionate, sympathetic, selfless love that always seeks the best for them] and do not be embittered or resentful toward them [because of the responsibilities of marriage].” Colossians 3:19
Thank you Father Mike.❤🙏❤️ The phrase “domestic church” has been used to describe families since the beginning of Christianity. In his Letter to Families, Pope St. John Paul II explained, “The Fathers of the Church, in the Christian tradition, have spoken of the family as a ‘domestic church,’ a ‘little church.’” The domestic church is believing that how you live your faith in your councils, families, parishes and community has a ripple effect that changes the world. I It is the council, the family and the parish that knows that everything they do must be based in surrendering prayer. It describes the imperfect family and council who deliberately chooses to live contrary to what seems like a Godless world and says, “In our home, council and parish, we choose to live our faith.” It is the family and council who prays together, goes to Mass weekly, frequents the Sacrament of Confession and (because they realize they are powerless without God), deliberately avoids that which pollutes their minds and hearts. It is the imperfect, humble and joy-filled family and council that rarely preaches the faith because they are too busy living it.🙏❤️
The call to married life is the call to family. The Christian family is called the domestic Church because the family manifests and lives out the communal and familial nature of the Church as the family of God. Each family member, in accordance with their own role, exercises the baptismal priesthood and contributes towards making the family a community of grace and of prayer, a school of human and Christian virtue and the place where the faith is first proclaimed to the children.
I was thinking about this yesterday. The next big Ascension podcast could be “Be Not Afraid in a Year.” It’s said that the phrase “fear not / be not afraid” is said 365 times in the Bible. The podcast could discuss each time it is said and the context around it.
This is so beautiful. My daughter and her husband wasn’t given a chance to have children and was give a chance to adopt. Tow boys but one of them who is extremely delightful and the other boy was given with some mental challenges. They’re trying so hard to help and discipline him with much love. And they can feel the difference between them. Please pray for us to help them be able to resolve these challenges.🙏🙏🙏

While I was hearing, I could see how much marriage vocation is tainted in today's world. Sexual act in married life is supposed to open to life, which God meant it to be. Sadly, how far is the society from it. May God pour out grace into every married couple to restore sacredness of🙏 marriage
Than you for this Fr Mike...... A family i know brought other children into their home and after the Mum and Dad died, one of the children confided to a sibling that he had been sexually abused by one of them😢.Praying for you and everyone here. God bless🙏❤️🙏
1)I wrote to MM these words in context to the conversation for the social engineering that exist; that the mindset is to be wired a certain way; in order that there are no virtues; in the God in us; to manifest the virtues, Faith, Hope, and Charity. To live a virtuous life is to have Love for one another; and of course; Love is not part of enterprise; like in the corporate world; which is more cutthroat. These are the words I shared.
2)My words. Quote: Like Fr Mike said: it can be by trial and error basis to reach out to single people; and invite the entire group to your backyard picnic; or church potluck. This is the more practical way; for trial and error; and then; you go reaching out further; when you see; what the picnic produced for recognizing virtue in adopting a family member into the family of your own. At the same time: advise to single people; when you are vulnerable; there is trial and error too; when being befriended to being adopted. Narcissism does exist in the world; be careful when finding a boyfriend; who preys on the vulnerable; or even narcissism that exists in other aspects of friendships. They seek for fuel supply. But don't be; accepting loneliness because: of what I said. Go and be fruitful; but NOT multiply until marriage.

August 14, 2023 Do you have 45 seconds to pray for in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen
I am 38, I love to get married, but never had the opportunity. I felt that Catholics had rebuked the single people, especially the single men. I understand that they aim to fight against the calls against marriages, but they should not forget that there are people, single people, who support marriage. They should not rebuke those nor forget about them.
Although it's entirely obvious, to say that the sexual act is for procreation is so anti-cultural, because the culture is hardcore feminist which drives to avoid children in order to dispose women to advance individually, financially, materially, and careers, etc. Children are an obstruction which is why so many use contraception and abortion as a contingency. Worst case scenario: baby arrives and after a few months, the baby is shipped off to day care to be raised by surrogate mothers. May God help women to appreciate their special role as full-time mothers and inspire fathers to sacrifice to support them and at once for their extended families to support them.
Amen!🙏❤️ Unfortunately I was one of those secular mothers for most of my children’s lives. The only good thing I did was stayed home with them until they started school. I never put them in daycare as babies or toddlers.
In today's society, more families are having to have both parents work in order to pay their bills. Thus, their children have to govto day care. This is no fault of the parents. All of my children and their spouses have to work to make ends meet. I am retired but had to work most of my married life.
In the past, it was the extended family that helped with child care, but in this increasingly fragmented society, child care can be hard to come by, especially if both parents have to work. In the developing world, especially in Asia and Africa, which are hardly bastions of feminism, a lot of people, both men and women, have to leave their countries to find work, leaving their children without their parents, often under the care of extended family. It’s economic pressures which tear families apart. Not all working women are power hungry CEOs climbing the career ladder. A lot are poorly paid workers whose wages are barely keeping their child from starving to death, especially in the poorer areas of the world.

I wrote reflections; and some clips from Bishop Barron matching exactly what Fr Mike said; in the quotation included. The internet lead kept giving me the videos to watch; and they were spot on. I needed these nuances. Go to Theresa's consecration channel.
In my parish, singleness is not only normative among the young, but highly praised! Even pious younger women don't want marriage or children. They attend daily mass and go out with groups, but otherwise pursue their careers and men take second or third place. Basically, it's a hybrid of piety and feminism which are admittedly, strange bedfellows, but it's been the norm for several years now. My hunch is that, once these feminists pass their age of fertility, loneliness goes into overdrive. Meanwhile, some of the men just don't make enough to please at least some women and so they don't marry either, although some men marry Asian women who are typically non-feminist, natural, submissive, unselfish, giving, and open to having children - the essentials of femininity. Yes, it is weird behavior overall, but that's what I see. Still other men are wary of becoming financially scalped through divorce which favor the feminists.

I am Asian and I have to shake my head at this caricature of Asian women as naturally submissive. Ever heard of Tiger moms? My mom pretty much ran the household and my father gave her his whole paycheck and she kept the budget. She resembled more an army drill sergeant than a submissive geisha. She is not unique among Asian women. In fact, she is more the rule than the exception. Funny thing, when I joined the military, boot camp was no big deal for me. I was used to it.
@@akiram6609 Fair point. I've met numerous Asians and the men are men and the women are women. They may be called tigers, but the men are lions who call the shots. Ergo, sorry, no caricature. :)
@@MM22272 Fair enough. The one thing Asian women aren’t are timid little church mice. Those Western men who think they are will be in for a rude awakening.
We do our best, only in Christ, who we see as God only by Grace. This section of the catechism has no in it. It is only Peter crowing In the courtyard. Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of a grace. This is my prayer when I want God who I see to enable me.
Shame you didn't tap as much into the openness to life side of things and NFP - too many people seem to think there is far more nuance to the command of be fruitful and multiply than there is. 8 years of marriage and 6 kids, we're living out God's command ❤
I was told that when you are done having children, we can no longer bond in this way . So why are priest contradicting one a other ? I’m ever comfortable in this .
The marital act is both unitive & procreative. When procreation is no longer possible, you still have the unitive function. Any priest who says you’re required to stop is flat out wrong. If by mutual consent you decide to abstain, then that’s legitimate. Even Paul talks about this in 1 Corinthians 7:5.
#rachelrichard2040, TrixRN is 100% correct, if you are unable to procreate, you have the option of adopting. If that is not possible. The other reason why God, put man and woman together in Holy Matrimony is to pray for each other and help each other go to Heave.
Perhaps there is a misunderstanding. Perhaps he said it to mean that when a woman becomes infertile because of age-or either spouse is infertile for reasons beyond their control during the wife’s normal childbearing years-the marital act is still a beautiful expression that renews their marital love. It’s an unfortunate misconception that the Church teaches otherwise. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
If the parents think that the child is getting properly educated AND the school thinks that the child is getting properly educated...the child will not know until they know. Hence, all Catholics should listen to BIY and CIY with Fr Mike. Thanks, Fr Mike, you are catechising the world. That is quite alot of chocolate chips ❤❤😂❤❤
What is the church's stand on couples who cannot conceive naturally but need IVF implants? Is that acceptable to the church? It's still the couple's blood and flesh - no doners involved.
This will be covered in CCC 2377, but briefly: "[Such techniques] remain morally unacceptable. They disassociate the sexual act from the procreative act."
The Catholic Church does not accept IVF treatment as many embryo's are fertilised and life begins at conception and these lives are not given fruition. Father Mike does a good podcast at Ascension Presents on the Catholic Churches view of contraception and IVF might be worth watching. 🙏🙏🙏
Some have several eggs fertilized in vitro (in a glass dish) without realizing that this may lead to the destruction of these embryos or their being frozen for later experimental use. The church, as stated in the above comments, is against it 100%.❤
Father Mike, I’m sure you mean educate them in Christ. The church baptize them in Christ hopefully I’m sorry I shouldn’t say that how many parents give Christ’s their children after the baptism to honour the promises they made before the whole congregation of hopefully militant, saints
Where is Christs’? If not in you in Christ. I don’t see Christs’ in the cataclysms dialogue about marriage in Christ, father, Mike, to critique this section of the catechism that is lacking in Christ on air would not violate your vows
Andrew, check out Day 220: Marriage in the New Covenant. There are over two dozen references to the foundational role of Christ in marriage. For example around the 7 minute mark: "It Is by following Christ, renouncing themselves, and taking up their crosses that spouses will be able to receive the original meaning of marriage and live it with the help of Christ. This grace of Christian marriage is a fruit of Christ's cross the source of all Christian Life." Peace.
To be a saint you have to see Christ first and that’s not said in your dialogue today by the church or you father. It’s not about procreation it’s about giving others Christ in you not just yourself as the Catholic Church does in the section. Where Peter is crowing. Father Mike, the arguments that you’re saying people will bring up have everything to do with relativism. Do I see Christ in your lips. All life is one flesh created by a God that we see as ChristHolySpirit. This whole section on marriage and procreation in the catechism is lacking in Christ, who creates one flesh. Amen. Amen. Amen. He is risen indeed.
Father Mike, I’m sure you mean life in Christ when you talk about a marriage without Christ at the middle of it which you’re not saying it is wrong. I know that the Holy Spirit will guide you in your talk today to bring this point up but I’m saying it now because it is missing sometimes in your dialogue. Even your excitement at the first it wasn’t Christs’. It was enthusiasm in Christ I hope.
The catechism of the apostolic Roman Catholic Church in this section you’re doing today. Father is missing two words life in Christ. I’ve reread it many times and there’s no Christ and what they are saying they’re just doling out what Peter did when he said you can’t be crucified, Jesus and I say what Jesus said to Peter Satan begone.

Hi y’all 👋🙏❤️Reflection posted. Tomorrow’s consecration day!
I’m hoping to do some grocery shopping today. 🤞 So hot 🥵 I can’t breathe when I get outside.😮💨
@@TrixRN It is so hot here also. Yesterday it got up to 87 inside my upstairs apartment as the AC couldn't keep up. There is a small chance that we will get a small rain Monday late afternoon.🙏 Be careful shopping Theresa and take water with you. I went to confession Sat and am looking forward to the Marian Consecration. I have done the consecration by the other four saints as you posted them and from my book. 🥰🙏
Thank you
As one who was blessed with a wonderful man, 2 adopted children, married for 20 years and now widowed…I can just imagine that “Chocolate chips” will become a “code word” for newlyweds. ♥️
I love this daily. Thank you Fr. Mike. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Fr. Mike and Ascension for "all" you do🙏.
Amen

Fr. Mike is a special God's gift to us. Thank you Fr. Mike, you did a well done job on the inspiration explanation and care to all types of your followers.
Praise be to God forever❣️

Thank you Father Mike.❤🙏❤️
The phrase “domestic church” has been used to describe families since the beginning of Christianity. In his Letter to Families, Pope St. John Paul II explained, “The Fathers of the Church, in the Christian tradition, have spoken of the family as a ‘domestic church,’ a ‘little church.’”
The domestic church is believing that how you live your faith in your councils, families, parishes and community has a ripple effect that changes the world. It is the imperfect, humble and joy-filled family and council that rarely preaches the faith because they are too busy living it.🙏❤️
Preach it! Amen ❤
Beautifully said.
Thank you Fr. Mike! Blessings everyone! 🙏

I was thinking about this yesterday. The next big Ascension podcast could be “Be Not Afraid in a Year.”
It’s said that the phrase “fear not / be not afraid” is said 365 times in the Bible. The podcast could discuss each time it is said and the context around it.

This is so beautiful. My daughter and her husband wasn’t given a chance to have children and was give a chance to adopt. While I was hearing, I could see how much marriage vocation is tainted in today's world. Sexual act in married life is supposed to open to life, which God meant it to be. Sadly, how far is the society from it. May God pour out grace into every married couple to restore sacredness of🙏 marriage

Sin happens in every situation.

Do you have 45 seconds to pray for in Purgatory with me?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
The Prayer of St. Gertrude
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen
I am 38, I love to get married, but never had the opportunity. I felt that Catholics had rebuked the single people, especially the single men. I understand that they aim to fight against the calls against marriages, but they should not forget that there are people, single people, who support marriage. They should not rebuke those nor forget about them.
OH no way!! I will pray for single people to find spouses. God has someone special waiting for you!!

Amen
@@akiram6609 Excellent points. Many ordinary folks are exploited by market forces that have no family values. It's a battle.

Even priests have different understandings? What does the catechism say?
The marital act is both unitive & procreative. When procreation is no longer possible, you still have the unitive function. Any priest who says you’re required to stop is flat out wrong. If by mutual consent you decide to abstain, then that’s legitimate. Even Paul talks about this in 1 Corinthians 7:5.
#rachelrichard2040, TrixRN is 100% correct, if you are unable to procreate, you have the option of adopting. If that is not possible. The other reason why God, put man and woman together in Holy Matrimony is to pray for each other and help each other go to Heave.
@@TrixRN ❤🙏
Perhaps there is a misunderstanding. Perhaps he said it to mean that when a woman becomes infertile because of age-or either spouse is infertile for reasons beyond their control during the wife’s normal childbearing years-the marital act is still a beautiful expression that renews their marital love. It’s an unfortunate misconception that the Church teaches otherwise. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
So I should blame my parents for not educating me on the faith, not Catholic school ? Lol sorry, that was wrong of me to say.

The Church is against it as the procedure involves destroying fertilized eggs
Cataclysm? Surely that was a type o
This marriage section is interminable
This whole segment of the catechism is lacking in Christ. All I hear is Peter Crowing
Thank you once again Fr Mike. Praying for you and everyone here. God bless🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
