I am planning on leaving my Fuerte plants outdoors. They are big enough to cope with the cold I think. I will leave it against a wall. I cannot possibly be bringing in all my avocados as that will fill up my greenhouse. Smaller ones and the ones I grafted this year will go inside and the bigger ones will stay outdoors.
I can’t risk leaving mine out as they are too expensive and I don’t know what the rootstock is and my garden is pretty cold in winter. I’ve lost plants previously that I had expected to survive. But I’m not sure where I’ll put them haha
Those are looking pretty healthy, Brett. If I remember right you repotted both of these a few months ago? My Fuerte has struggled this year, but I think it's been because the pot was drying out much quicker than I expected in the greenhouse, I had to give it a really heavy soaking last week as all the leaves had drooped. I can see new growth starting to flush again now at least, but it really looks like it needs repotting. Probably not a wise idea to repot it now just before winter though I'm guessing lol 😂
Yes these 2 were repotted in ‘experimental’ soil mixes which both seem to be working so far but of course they could get root rot in winter. Agreed I don’t think it would be a good idea to repot at this time of the year, better to be root-bound in winter I would say 🤞
@@lyonheart84 Maybe I'll wait to see how your experimental mixes work out and if my tree survives the winter repot into the same/similar mix next spring lol 😂
@LoganShelton-rh3lp they can randomly drop all of their leaves, normally stress related. Not a problem although it would be better not to lose all the leaves lol. If they drop all their leaves due to root rot then of course it’s a big problem 😬
Very lushy healthy, your effort is definitely showing!
Lol sadly some aren’t doing as well and now winter is coming fast 😬
How coincidental. My mexicola grande is dying too. My fuerte is doing great though.
My mexicola died in spring, a combination of root rot and a weak graft 🙄

@PeterEntwistle must admit I can’t remember what I used without looking back at the actual video lol
My fuerte dropped all its leaves once it started to get warm. Flushed back out 2 weeks later and never looked better. Is this typical of avocados?

All my avocados got new flush of leaves coming through too. Not sure what happened for them all to want to grow at once.
Probably the fluctuating temperatures triggers new growth
