The Staten Island Railway is crazy underrated and underutilized. It’s free between almost all stops on the island and a very useful connection to walkable areas like New Dorp, St. George, etc
R44 are the future they have something these new overrated crapshoots don’t window seats and comfort for your leg to the other seat infront now that’s the future right there I tried to avoid these cars and prefer the R46 on the A because of the comfort
Im proud to say i was there on that train today 10/8/24 but what they dont tell you is, is only one train that they brought and its a 30 day test run like i was telling them Staten Island the forgotten borough
These will never live up to what the R44 are they have window seats and are comfortable and you can rest your legs on the seat infront can’t do it with these new crappy cars
@r62aguy85 The old cars use gutted parts from other units that are taken out of service. They aren't lasting on their own and it's way too early to know yet how long these will last.
What are you talking about? That was also true when they did this same inaugural ride in Manhattan on the A line. Every time a new train class comes, they do this 30 day test to make sure it's safe. That's nothing to do with it being Staten Island...
THIS could Not happen in NYC.. without someone graffiting the train .First Day Out..... just my opinion 😊.....I Noticed it is not elevated ...a Good sign..
They are the MTA leadership, none of which rides the trains or buses. It was just a media stunt to make it appear that they are connected to the people.
It's easier just to take the ferry or express bus over. It would cost billions for a tunnel for just a single train line. Nobody on the island wants more lines.
@@Shinycelebi No it isn’t! Staten Island residents have one of the longest commutes in the United States! Poll after poll in the Staten Island Advance show residents demand a subway connection!

@whiskeykilo2h429 The South shore line is completely gone and the North shore line is entirely disconnected from St George because of a wash out years ago. So again, NIMBYs are holding things up. They wanted to use LRVs but that idea went dead too.
Staten Island railway would have been much better if it were treated like a commuter railroad with M1 and replacement M7 commuter cars. Subway cars sucks and the R211 just does not fit. The Staten Island railway does not get enough passengers to justify those stupidly wide doors. Just a ugly car in my opinion.
I just wrote that too! Do the people who decided this even know what it's like riding the train in SI. There's not enough seating. Ugh. Now I'll have to run off the ferry to get a seat on the train. I just pray the heat is good in the winter. Been freezing my ass off for decades on that train lol.
@@ariesarethebest271 lol, it’s to tiny and Staten Island railway is already empty. You put a 3 car M7 on it, it would really look empty even more. Bottom line it’s not like the mighty NYCT and nowhere like the LIRR. It fits that niche that the path trains are RR/subway. 🤔 Come to think of it, it’s not even worthy of calling it like the path trains either, even though they are both so called RR’s they are not.

If they ran every 10 minutes outside of rush hours, it would probably be utilized more
This is History! Finally getting new cars for Staten Island!
HISTORY IN THE MAKING‼️
Welcome to the Staten Island Railway, R211S!
I like the R211S it’s like the R211A
I agree.
They're ugly cars.
I wonder what the differences are
Honestly I really want to find out the difference between r211S and r211A
.....A & S
Always a good day when the suits and ties come for a ride lmao. Must be somewhat nerve-racking for the train operator.
The “Future” that once arrived within Mainland New York City, it finally arrives in Staten Island too.

The 3 BIG brothers are looking (NYCT, LIRR, MNRR) at SRW and saying “ You looking good little bro” 😎
Metro North and LIRR are laughing at this joke of a railway.
Rode it tonight. Very nice but not enough seating at all.
It took a Staten Island 51 years to get a new train and it finally got it.

The SIR isn't that forgotten. Issue is a lot of residents don't want more lines.

Let’s hope they don’t
This is awesome! Too bad the R211S doesn't have the Wabco AA2 horn.
It would have been nice If you guys would have removed the flats and spots from both sets before this celebration 🎉
Who were those guys in suits?
Congressmen
Criminals.
Criminals.
..those who know nothing about trains!!

The R262 should bring to Staten Island Railway
Ok MTA Live, when are you clowns gonna rebuild 'Hylan's Holes' and connect the SIR to the rest of NYC subway? Its still a train to no where!
