For those of you who missed out on the last round of Lishi tools and Covert Companions over on www.covertinstruments.com, I thought you might like to know that we’re now accepting a limited number of preorders on the next batches, which are currently in production. Order now and you can avoid the rush when they arrive. 👍

@@creamwobbly It has been used in many security settings though and that is the problem. It is perfectly acceptable to use this lock to close a conference room, but not for an entrance to a building or to protect sensitive material however it was also used in this role. Did you get the transparent lock? That's the easiest to start with. Hit Ebay and if you have what's called a re-store near you, hit that. Re-store is a store that recycles things like doors, things that go on houses, lumber... and LOCKS! Sometimes you can buy a whole box of locks for $5. Practice, practice, practice. Then buy harder locks. Get the Master lockout lock. Red body. That's I think the toughest lock Master makes, yet it's in a plastic body and the shackle is not hardened. LPL did a video on that lock, it's #479.

Rented a 1910 house with this kind of lock on the doors, probably an "upgraded" lock from original. My gf went around trying get some key copies made, ended up at a local old family locksmith. She walked for two copies, and the guy said, "so five hundred, then?" She was understandably confused until he pulled out an ancient box with hundreds of blanks and told her that he couldn't bear to toss them out, but at a couple copies every five years or so he was gonna be gone before the box was.

Guys, learn how to chill and learn the meaning of the words "delayed gratification". The man has a professional day job with obligations and clients, a wife, a kid, and also recently moved. Maybe he occasionally wants some time off to enjoy his life? Difficult to imagine, I know.
He's not a trained seal to bark out videos on command for your amusement because you have nothing better to do. Treat him with some respect and let him do the video when he's ready. This man has never done a video that was anything less than perfect in one take and the one you're waiting for will be made to that same standard, whatever that takes.
Chirping "where's my spy camera" every day is unhelpful, it won't get what you want any faster, and it's making the comments disheartening to read.

These locks used to be used on state housing back in the 60’s to 80’s. I used to get a literal steel bucket full of them every other day that they had no keys to. Most of the time I just had to make a set of keys to suit the existing permutation. They served a purpose in a generation where locking your door was not needed.

Having done a lot of work with commercial buildings, and with people who owned or worked out of similarly old office buildings, I can say that those locks tended to be used more often for office privacy, and the 'security' of paperwork held mostly from those under that person, more often than not. I can't speak for back when they are new, but in the modern day most of those locks are only left on individual offices and low-security storage rooms. I tended to see most doors on higher-security storage, as well as external doors, refitted with much more expensive and contemporary locks (sometimes with up to several backups, such as deadbolts obviously added some time after the door was first installed). So, I would say a lot of the inference about the use of these locks is fairly spot-on.
