Hello Dave and Dawn, A great video again, and this one is from a place not far from where Fina and I live. In the town of Matlock, not far away, there used to be a tram going up the very steep hill from the railway station in the valley to the hydros at the top - these were places where you could get a "water cure." It was the steepest tramway in the world and as one tram went up, the other tram went down. The tram depot at the top of the hill is still there and is now a garage. The tram tracks were demolished in the 1920s, but certain people can still see the ghost of the tram conductor - when my youngest son was three years old, he regularly claimed to see a "policeman" standing in front of that garage when everybody else could see nothing. Fina and I wonder whether it was the ghost of a tram conductor from long ago.

(I'm sure they're very appreciative.) 1:46: Err... are you sure that's just a 1930s police box...?! 1:55: Yes, I remember being given the old penny! 2:33-3:02: Amazing "Red Lion" backstory, isn't it? 3:04-3:08: I've been in both! At the sweet shop, I bought... a "Chocolate Chess" set! (Only the pieces were chocolate; they came with moulds, so you could melt more chocolate and enjoy future games!) 4:47-4:50: What did he say to you, Dawn? 4:56-5:04: I can definitely recommend the woodland walk: relaxing. 5:10-5:22: George Stephenson is buried in Chesterfield; a statue of him resides, appropriately, outside the train station. (He holds a model of "The Rocket"!)
Hi Phil fascinating about George Stephenson we will definitely visit Chesterfield one of these days, rather than just pass through admiring the steeple. It is a great place to spend a day here isn't it. We had hoped to look in the police box but was locked, would be interesting to see if it was bigger inside! Hi Phil fascinating about George Stephenson we will definitely visit Chesterfield one of these days, rather than just pass through admiring the steeple. It is a great place to spend a day here isn't it. We had hoped to look in the police box but was locked, would be interesting to see if it was bigger inside!
