    Some of my great uncles and uncles worked for the streetcar company and the Connecticut company trolleys to Westville and Branford. Just think if it was nice enough around here to have them again.

    Narrated by Bob Steele, who was an institution on WTIC 1080. Several generations of New Englanders grew up listening to his daily morning show.

      Aha, that voice was so familiar, yet I couldn’t put a name to it until reading your comment.

    I have a faint memory of riding on a trolley ( more correctly, a subway ) as a very young child in Rochester, NY; that was about 1946. Somewhere around here, I have a DVD my brother gave to me several years ago about those subways. I sure wish those were yet still around. Thank you for the video.

    By the way, a short few years ago I had the good fortune to visit the trolley museum in Washington, PA. Enjoyed a great visit.

      I'd bring my 2 kids to the Shoreline Trolley Museum in Branford, Ct once/year for the Christmas trolley ride!

      The many talented Shoreline Trolley Museum volunteers do a wonderful job maintaining the old cars and giving rides.

      @@chasbodaniels1744 I'd care to go there again however now 82 years, a trip is most unlikely. Darn! At least we can say it is a shared experience. Be well.

      Well, factories moved south, urban renewal and the new interstates cleared out entire neighborhoods, and the rising middle class moved out to Orange, Woodbridge, Hamden, North Haven and Branford, seeking bigger housing lots and 2-car garages.
      All those factors hastened the decline of the city tax base. It was inevitable.

    Interesting video, but why the apostrophe in "Trolleys"?

      @8avexp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many people don't realize that an apostrophe is used in possessives, not plural words.
