God bless people like you,my mini has the same issue and I was going crazy trying to figure out what is it.I tried 3 mechanics and AA rescue and no one had an answer, gonna check what you said, thank you so much for sharing!!
Thanks man, I'm digging straight to that fuse before I replace the pump. My daughter bought an 02 mini with the power steering not working. With a junk yard pump in the back seat. Glad I found your video. New sub right here... .
That’s great to hear! I’m really glad I could help. I could not find anything showing these issues so even if I was helping one person it’s worth a post. Thank you
Thanks for sharing. My Cooper S lost its power steering after a short drive in the bitter cold winter. I struggle the car to a safe spot, open the hood and let the sun warm up the whole engine compartment. It work normal after 2 hours of sunbath. My guess is the fan you mentioned in the video get spilled by water along the drive, and it turned into ice immediately and jammed the whole thing. Is it possible? Just a wild guess.
Tried to check my 100 amp fuse in the engine bay but it's nearly impossible. The access to the fuses on the underside of the box is really bad. How do you get to it
I know it is very difficult. Once you get the fuse box loose you kind of have to wiggle it around to get the room. I barely could get to it to remove it. I pretty much had to feel for it by hand and place the tool where I could loosen the screws to get the fuse out. I don’t know anything else to suggest besides just trying to be persistent and keep trying. It took me forever
I have a 2006 Mini cooper and the power steering is working on and off. Sometimes I turn it on and it’s working completely fine and sometimes it isn’t working at all. Any idea what the issue can be?
Could this also cause power steering whine? I've replaced the pump 4 times now and it still is whining horribly. And yes I bled it correctly. Also took it to a shop to bleed it.
That hasn’t happened in my case.. from my experience the whine is usually fluid related. This is the only car with an electric pump that I’ve worked with so I don’t know their tendencies:/
do you know of any solution or what could be causing it? It's exhausting replacing the pump, and I'm starting to think it may be caused by something else.
@@evanroberts1278 I believe it did, but there has always been a little bit of a coolant leak so I can’t say 100% if the power steering issue affected it that much

It should be for the pump

No it never caused any battery issues for us
Might be a stupid question. Having exact same issues. Got the 100amp fuse out. How can I test whether or not the 100amp fuse has blown?
Ace video by the way.
Thank you! Here’s a video on testing fuses
