I have never been more torn on a decision - I feel a lot more comfortable with the material from school that was more strength and materials oriented, and the fluid dynamics stuff came a lot less easy to me (although I DID learn it, it wasn't the end of the world.) When you say fluids has less material to review, how significant is that? Looking at some of the practice exams, the machine design exam is a lot more unintuitive and new than I'd originally expected, but the thermal and fluid systems looks a little unfamiliar too. I've been out of school for 3.5 years. Anyone have any good advice on a pretty fresh Mechanical Engineering graduate, who was less comfortable with fluid dynamics etc., but recognizes I'd have to learn a lot more in machine design?
What is lacking with Mechanical Engineers today, is the knowledge of how to design mechanisms correctly. Did know that there's a mathematical formula that can be used for all mechanism designs?
