It took over 90 minutes for me. It was a slow slog, and ended up filling in all of the candidates before making any more headway. But highlighting each number in turn allowed me to find both the 8 x-wing and a finned 5 x-wing, my first since learning how they function, which gave me the 45 pair in the top right.
I found a second x-wing with 8's in columns 1 & 4 that overlaps/complements the one pointed out in the video. Helped me sort out the 5, 8, & 9 in box 9 and from there the rest of the puzzle through row 9 and the original 8's x-wing.
38:39 for me, with various interruptions - I wish your sudoku app had a timer pause button. Feeling pleased that I found the X-wing on 8s all by myself!
Rather than the X-wing, I discovered a swordfish on 8's in r2c1/c4, r8c1/c4/c8 and r9c1/c4/c8 early on, forcing r3c4, r7c4 and r7c8 to be not an 8. That helped resolving the puzzle relatively easy
I never saw X-wings or other such fancy things. At my usual slow pace, I just patiently placed restricted digits, identified the numerous pairs, and they all resolved themselves without any real difficulty. 30 minutes though. I am not planning to enter any competition anytime soon !
34:30 YEEES! Think it would took more without seeing highlighted columns 3 and 5 in the preview, just for a milisecond the mouse passed and my mind knew something was hidding there!
10:36, but I will admit I made a 'hunch' at one point and just got lucky that it quickly let me solve the rest of the puzzle! Missed the X wing, need to get better at those!
Chad Portman honestly, I think it gets easier with more experience. When I learned about the x wing, xy wing, swordfish, etc it was very hard to distinguish and identify them in everyday puzzles. I now solve puzzles using a list of “methods”: first, use schriders notation (yes I butchered it, deal with it lol) for all of the numbers starting from 1 and moving up to 9. Once you have all the “obvious” digits entered, I either look for obvious singles (cells that have all but 1 digit looking at the square) or where cells can go in a row or column. After that, I look for hidden doubles and/or triples, though triples are rare. After that, you usually have most of the grid solved, and you just need to apply one of the advanced sudoku tactics above. That’s what I typically do. I’m only a teenager, but I love puzzles, I love puzzling, and I hope you do too!
I dont know what happened here. This was my fastest solve on any puzzle posted on this channel. Typically I take 1+ hours on classic and 2+ on variants. Somehow this one took 21:57...? I didnt even spot any X-wings or anything, just pencil marking all over the place and noticing that some cells can only be one digit.
Please show the answers to the Reaper, Pyramid and High Art puzzles. Me and a friend have been wrecking our brains, and can't find solutions. To be fair, we are only ~21 y/o, so probably not as experienced as we should be, but please show us how to do it so we can learn from it. Thanks a lot!
The 5s and 9s in r1 and r6 in col 3,9 confused me. Isn’t there a uniqueness rule? Maybe i don’t understand that correctly. i know that some of the given numbers limit the solution in this case, but i thought it referred to construction. Can someone help me out here? Can you normally or often find two numbers that can be switched?
Anybody been able to make use of the 235 triple in box two? I could never get an extra digit in row 3 to really start using it, any tips? Any way to add a pencil mark in that singular row to turn that into a quadruple so you can use it later in the solve? That would really have helped over here...

@@lucdouc i'm not good at explaining but i'll try my best. I'll assume you are at a point where you have a 5,9 pair in R6. If you look at C3 3 and 8 are locked in C3R3 and C3R7. That leaves you with a 5,9 pair in C3R1 and the already given in C3R6. Now if you look carefully at C3 and C5 there's a Swordfish with 8's. In row R3C4 you can assume the 8 out cause of the swordfish and that leaves you with a 9 as the only possible. Now off to R7. Using again the 8 swordfish in R7C4 you can only place a 5. And moving to R7C8 the only possible is a 2. After this you look at C7 where you'll have a 1,2 pair. That leaves you with a 5 in C7R5. Now you can start solving the 5,9 pairs in the grid. Hope this was helpfull.
I am quite impressed with how fast Mark spotted that X-Wing. He didn't even break a sweat.
Thanks for all the classic Sudokus. They are by far my favourite,

. Considering these things usually take me hours I'm taking this as your channel's good influence!
38:39 for me, with various interruptions - I wish your sudoku app had a timer pause button. Feeling pleased that I found the X-wing on 8s all by myself!
32:09 for me, the first time ever i did a puzzle from this channel without referring back to the video :)
Rather than the X-wing, I discovered a swordfish on 8's in r2c1/c4, r8c1/c4/c8 and r9c1/c4/c8 early on, forcing r3c4, r7c4 and r7c8 to be not an 8. That helped resolving the puzzle relatively easy
43 minutes, but I needed Mark to show me the x-wing.
1:55:31 for me. Man that was a doozie!
42:42 for me. When I got to the sticking point, I did a few empty rectangles until I found one that broke the puzzle wide open.
This one tricked me 'cause I caught an empty rectangle on the 8s instead and I was so focused on that that I missed the X-wing entirely.
I completely missed the x-wing. Nice solve.
Same here. The puzzle collapsed after the x-wing.
I spotted it, then instantly forgot all about it and put the 89 pair in there... because I'm not very bright....
Found it eventually.
23:27 - very nice puzzle. I actually got the x wing early. Struggled to make use of it.
Great Thank you for staying up late to get this online. Just finished it! Thank you!
you solve so fast and so calm.
if I try to solve any sudoku fast .. I would look crazy and shouting numbers
Instead of the x wing, I found a swordfish on 8s on rows 2, 8, and 9, which similarly eliminated 8 from r3c4, r7c4, and r7c8.
same!

That sneaky little X-wing... I looked for 15 mins before giving in to watch Mark pick it out with nearly no pencil marks.😢
34:30 YEEES! Think it would took more without seeing highlighted columns 3 and 5 in the preview, just for a milisecond the mouse passed and my mind knew something was hidding there!
8:12 for me. Nice way to end my day. Thanks for the extra content.
I'm usually slower than you guys but 12:43
is pretty good for me, and over breakfast too. I didn't need to find an x-wing - don't know why.
Did it without the X-Wing, since I didn't know what it was :). Took me 2 tries though and quite a bit more time
19:41 - not bad!
So helpful! Thank you so much 😊
20:03!! Fastest one yet! yay, that wasn't too bad!
28:14 This one really beat me up.
Wasn't there a 59 x-wing too, col 3 and col 9?
15:43. The x wing on 8 started to progress further
31:49. Can finally start spotting xwings more frequently
10:36, but I will admit I made a 'hunch' at one point and just got lucky that it quickly let me solve the rest of the puzzle! Missed the X wing, need to get better at those!
i needed 1 hint but great puzzle. thank you!
I need to get better at spotting x-Wing's like the 8's here. Any advice on spotting these anyone?

Cal Jam solid advice. More so as I am focused on solving and not speed. Speed is for later.
Took me 45 mins but I spotted the x-wing on 8s, feeling happy!
I dunno, I cruised through this one in 12:52. It was pretty straightforward.
Lauren Smith Same here. Relaxing 15:49 without having to use any techniques or logic or anything. Was surprised.
43:09, I'm just glad I can figure these out lol

45 mins but anything I can solve I count as a win! I used the pair in box 6 which forced the position of the 9 and everything opened after that
20:00 not bad!
Why does it say that stuff in white text in the bottom-left?
Took me 21 mins, nice one indeed
31:01. I'm still learning to spot x-wings, so it took me AGES.
If you don't spot the x-wing this puzzle becomes a weird chain ridden mess.

40:10 took forever to spot that x-wing
Found the X-wing, but I got stuck on column nine... ended up with 29min.
Anybody been able to make use of the 235 triple in box two? I could never get an extra digit in row 3 to really start using it, any tips? Any way to add a pencil mark in that singular row to turn that into a quadruple so you can use it later in the solve?
That would really have helped over here...
30:05 I can really see myself improving!
Got it in 33:09, kinda proud of myself
I took to long to find the x wing. Ended up with 24 minutes.
it took me an hour but I do this manually, when I stuck I only choose one number from the pair and see if it stuck again somewhere
32:59 wow, fastest yet for me
BEST
I do like classic sudokus, but I am so much faster at them on paper!
39:15 once I started singing my thought process out loud it got easier
I always miss those x-wing links.
13 min. Not bad :-)
Found a couple of empty rectangles, and xwings,
17:06. I expected much more
42 min, i had to watch the xwing, sad for me because i should have been able to spot it
Let's see what i missed this time. Was hopeful filling in quite a lot, but then hit a wall.
Ah dang it. I had all the pairs in columns 3 and 5, but missed the x-wing on 8s.
13.13
ty for the puzzle

Thank you for your help. i re-posted the comment to all. which is what i meant to do in the first place. sorry about that.
Where are bonuses 6 and 10?
I don't know what happened to 10, but 6 is the Tic-tac-toe Sudoku. It's just not called "bonus".
@@glennmelven3414 That would explain why I can't find 6, then, as I'm avoiding the variants at the moment. Thanks!
40min, didnt spot the x wing on 8s
15:33 for me
10:00 flat, didnt actually need an x-wing or any other technique, just regular sudoku, maybe i was just lucky in my solving path :)
22:26 - that wasn't too hard.
49 minutes with backtracking; I haven't internalized x-wings yet :)
35 minutes whoop
41 minutes on mobile
Only used snyder notation on this one, fast time as well (< 3 min).
Clearly not vicous. Used a swordfish for a time of 3:29
