Hi yes of course you can do it with wool as well. Actually same here in Malaysia, this thread is quite expensive too. Sometimes i mixed it with other non brand thread.

I saw another lady curl hair wrapping it around toothpicks and using heat .if that helps

What kind of stitches did you use?

Straight stitch for the leaves
French knot stitch for the flowers
And back stitch for outlining the head

Hi. Its just embroidery thread and people usually use it for cross stitch. DMC is the popular brand but any other brand will work fine as long its in the same category. Hope this will help you. 😘
