    I don’t get why sabs are convinced drag hunts are after foxes, it’s really uncomfortable and they are convinced they know better. She’s so sassy though 😂

      It’s so cringey because they just try & provoke the staff. They’re just football hooligans in the countryside dresses in balaclavas 🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

      This time you were following a foxhound pack, prior to the hunting act they would’ve hunted foxes.
      Post ban they follow an artificial scent whereas bloodhound packs literally hunt the scent of the human runners, this is why you’ll see the runners in with the hounds at the meet before they set off. Foxhound packs follow a prelaid trail and it’s done to be more authentic and have the hounds follow as naturally as possible.
      The sabs are FOREVER filming and protesting because there is a constant campaign to have the ban overturned, effectively by following foxhounds you’re supporting this cause in a way or that’s how the sabs see it. They are also continually trying to catch hunts breaking the law by following actual foxes. They collect video evidence of everyone in order to try and gain a prosecution.
      The hunt I follow (usually on foot at the moment) is forever dealing with protesters, on a Saturday meet there are often multiple police vehicles in attendance as we’re lucky enough to get the less peaceful ones.

    Ahhh this was so lovely to see! Seren seemed much calmer! You wouldn’t believe that was the same pony that extended your arms by a couple of feet the last time! 😂
    Also, I think I would have more time for sabs if they actually went on the hunts and saw what was happening. I get that they want to protect foxes and the other animals, and I agree they shouldn’t be hunted like this (although I love watching blood hounds and trail hunts! And I know this was a trail hunt), but scaring the horses like that is not a sign of an animal lover. Especially when you are trying to make sure Seren was calm and chilled. If they stuck a couple of people into hunts with cameras, it would become very obvious who was illegally hunting and they would have the proof. Seems like a no brainer to me?!

    Perhaps if blood hounds were used instead ie chasing a scent instead of fox hounds , then they might believe foxes wouldn’t be chased. Sabs don’t consider the effect of shouting at the horses.

    • @Whizzywelsh_Eventing
      @Whizzywelsh_Eventing  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I genuinely would not hunt if it involved foxes as would other people on that very hunt. They definitely don’t or the fact they have dog food to entice the dogs over into the road.

    You need to put a market harborough on her. I think that's the name. It fixes on the saddle or girth ( can't remember which, then through the bit and to your hands. You will have control because the horse pulls against itself.

    Just a general question: Why do some rider seem to be sitting back over the fences with their legs kind of slipping forward? It's not the correct jumping position the way you learn in show jumping, and you see it on a lot of traditional prints and paintings as well, so I wondered if it was a special hunting jumping style? Or because the horses tend to jump wider and flatter?

    • @amandadonegan2137
      @amandadonegan2137 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its called strap hanging or 'defensive seat' and is because the horse has basically jumped bigger than you expected...

    • @Whizzywelsh_Eventing
      @Whizzywelsh_Eventing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried it on her before but she actually tends to rear 🤦🏼‍♀️. The martingale doesn’t stop her pulling her head down more up in the air. I used the Cheltenham gag with cheek piece as it lifts the head up xx

    • @sandraback7809
      @sandraback7809 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to hunt a very enthusiastic Sec D who would throw his big neck and shoulders against me and we had braking issues. I ended up with a 3 ring Dutch Gag with double reins. I could ride him up to his bridle on the top rein with steady contact and only needed a very occasional ‘check’ with the bottom rein that was on only the second ring. I had leather palmed gloves with the extra leather between little and ring finger which helped with the laced rein which helped with gripping. He settled with this arrangement very quickly and wasn’t so strong (most of the time) . It’s finding the ‘key’ to your own horse in certain situations. We had a French link snaffle for summer, Pelham with double reins for winter and the ‘disc brakes’ for hunting. Have fun😁🐎😁

    The hunt sabs are so focused on the foxes (that don't even exist in most modern hunts) they don't even realize the harm they cause horse, rider, and hounds by screaming, yelling, blocking roads, and spooking the animals.

    I'll be honest if you were hunting foxes I would have been with those 'Sabs' but I totally don't understand why they are there at all for this. They need to get educated or are they just against you riding at all? Also why are all those people standing where you meet, lined up against the shed, looks like an accident waiting to happen.
    I'll also say I admire your grit, for me I wouldn't have enjoyed all that boggy wet grass/mud etc. You did amazingly well on a rather fresh horse. I would have been stressed to the max. In my defence I live in Australia where we don't get wet weather very often 😂 so I suppose you get used to it and non of my horses are shod.

    • @Whizzywelsh_Eventing
      @Whizzywelsh_Eventing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally totally agree, I am against fox hunting I would never ever do it if it involved any other animals than the dogs & horses.
      They do need educated they are terrible, the thing that is the worst part is. They aren’t actually doing it for the animals. They are simply doing it to be hooligans, how do those men dressed in balaclavas care for any animal at all 🤷🏼‍♀️. All they were doing was provoking the horses & riders, the hunt supporters & the dogs. They entice the dogs over with dog food & then wonder why the dogs run onto the road to see them. Idiots.
      It was a rather large meet for new years, it was just supporters enjoying the atmosphere.
