      Varun Tripathi no actually , what you’re talking about is wegeners theory which states that crust “ploughed” through ocean floor
      This is quite different and sea-floor spreading has not been discarded

    I love this subject because it helps me understand our sun. The importance of finding out what the elements of our core is. Through tons and tons of study. For some reason I feel like gold nickel and diamonds are important in this process. Everything that we see land wise over millions of years gets recycled through these convections and subduction zones where the planet is recycling land mass deep into the Earth's mantle. We've got a lot of work to do

  • @LehrvideosSystemErde
    @LehrvideosSystemErde ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Unfortunately, there are some serious mistakes in this video, e.g., the explanation of the increasing density of oceanic crust. The reason for this is not the oceanic crust but the thickness of the underlying lithospheric mantle. More errors are in the convection current, the melting process and the subduction process.

    I just did not get the part where a deep ocean trench is required for subduction and if there is no deep trench, the landmass simply drifts away. Why is the oceanic crust not subdued on the coast where there is no trench?

    Your presentation stated that "At the mid-ocean ridge the crust is pushing apart". Certainly the compression hills either side of the ridge would confirm this action. Most references to this subject state that the movement is due to the pull of the seduction zones or magma flow due to hot spots. I do not believe that those causes would cause the measured and mirrored spreed evident in the magnetic band reversals. Tidal bending would be most evident at a weak joint between plates. The tidal flexing would bring cold sea water deep into the rift, causing magma to solidify into new rock and as you say, push the plates apart at a measured and mirrored spreed. Its time for a new Vegener.
