@@greenelephant1231 Maybe you don't know why this is happening? Prop 47, theft under $950 has been knocked down to a misdemeanor. Some comedians and other social influencers started spreading the misinformation that theft under $1,000 had been decriminalized. Do you know how insurance works? The consumer gets their premiums raised and that's if the insuring agency even allows them to keep their policy. Mangoes are $21/bushel or $10/layer for retail, so about 55 cents to $1 per lb. You would need to farm 1,000-2,000lbs to pay for ONE of the electronic devices stolen. I'm guessing that there have been more than 2,000 such thefts so, buddy, you would need all the mangoes in Florida to pay for that. How about you just stop defending criminals?

Back in the 70's i was a loss prevention officer for a local department store in a northern major metropolitan area. We wore streetclothes, carried chemical mace, handcuffs and pistols (we had CCW's). We had training. We also employed some police officers who worked on a part-time basis. Shoplifters were arrested, sent to jail and prosecuted. If they fought and resisted arrest, then those charges were added on. When these pros know a store is weak, then they will clean it out and steal you blind.

This is happening ALL OVER THE COUNTRY right now and no one's talking about it. We have to catch them in the actual act of theft, and security does what they can, but only law enforcement can arrest. We need stronger laws for shoplifting, because it's a high risk to employees. Many will threaten lawsuits for discrimination, when they are actually breaking the law by stealing from us. Its pretty unbelievable.

Yah. Me too. Getting old takes guts. But these days I don't feel the need to buy much.
After retiring I worked for three years part time at Home Depot. We saw this all the time. I got so tired of it I re-retired in August 2019 -- just in time it turned out.
I blame 60 years of congressional incompetence. But not just them, we got off the right track with marketing supported TV & Radio.
We invented 'make-work' jobs, told folks to build their lives on being productive, then sold those jobs . . . somewhere else.
The same marketeers sold us lame office-holders. They sold us distorted images and lifestyles. They sold us unhealthy self-images.
      They still sell us fear.
And we, fools, bought it. Then we handed it off to our children.
I am thinking that the only way out is to sur-tax all media that is not Subscriber Fee Paid services [ besides, imagine the public debt we could get past with revenue like that].

Seems kinda pointless for home improvement stores. Most of the time when I’m going to the Home Depot, im covered in project detritus, I’m bringing the old item with me for comparison and I’m trying to get in and out and back on my project as fast as possible. That’s why brick and mortar is the way to go for home improvement, you don’t need to look through an online catalog and hope you got the right thing. Going down the isle, finding the correct part and getting out of there asap is huge. Adding a middleman who isn’t invested in your project ,and who might grab the wrong part or take forever doesn’t seem efficient when your plumbing has broken or your roof is leaking or your electrical doesn’t work. Also contractors who shop at home improvement centers would loose money for the same reasons

Why would so many people go to a GAS station? Those are tiny places so what was there that they were really after?
What I also see is that they use black and brown kids for this, but its a cover. A cover in that everyone will just shrug it off as "those wild black and brown kids. They are wild animals. You know how those people are" kind of talk and won't look deeper into it. It does make sense, imo, that it is authorities AND crime organizations behind this and just use the unfortunate common gang and violence that happens in this city, and others, to "cover their tracks" as they do what they do.

Unfortunately, this exactly why store employees should just stand down as resisting could put themselves at risk as well as the customers as some of these individuals may have weapons as well or become violent. Not worth risking your life for something the store insures anyway and something that you don't even own. This happened to me at Macy's when I used to work there 18 years ago when I was still in college. Ten people made a grab and snatch and then made a mad dash for the exit with all the merchandise they could carry. One of them had a jacket with one hand in it and our loss prevention team determined he had a gun. We just watched them run without interfering for fear of them becoming violent with store employees or customers.

I'd visit, and saw people doing it right in front of me, zero care as they walk out the door with a cart load of merchandise. The employees are powerless and yet they are the ones at risk the most. I have a college education and even I have to work two jobs that barely pay my bills. So imagine how hard life is for someone who couldn't afford to go to college? You need at least $60,000 a year to survive in many places of the country and most people can't get jobs with that kind of money, especially for Non-White job applicants with ethnic names. I mean, they are idiots for risking their life for some mega corps bottom line, even when their own company policy tells them not to. You think the CEO's and Executives of these companies are losing sleep over their deaths?

We can also forgive and forget these bandits.
      Forgive them via Glock
Forget them when they are carried out. Jerks.
