어거스트 디는 원래 언더그라운드 래퍼였던 슈가가 아이돌로서 자유롭게 하지 못하는 음악을 하기 위해 따로 만든 예명입니다. 알엠도 그렇지만 슈가도 한국 힙합씬으로부터 아이돌 데뷔에 대해 엄청 비판을 받았죠. 돈 따라가느라 힙합 정신을 버렸다고요. 슈가는 자신이 아이돌이지만 힙합 레퍼라는 또 다른 정체성을 정체성을 어거스트 디의 이름으로 내는 믹스테입으로 표현합니다. 상업성이나 심의를 신경쓰지 않기 위해 믹스테입으로 무료로 배포합니다. 당연히 bts로서 만드는 음악과도 다르고 슈가가 다른 가수들에게 프로듀싱해주는 곡과도 분위기가 다릅니다. 이번 앨범은 어거스트 디로 내는 두번째 앨범이고 2016 년에 이미 믹스테입을 한 번 냈습니다.
굉장히 강렬하고 한이 맺혀있던 첫번째 앨범과 이번 두 번째 앨범은 뮤지션으로서 달라진 슈가의 변화를 이번 대취타 뮤비에서 잘 표현하고 있는데요. 일단 뮤비 스토리라인은 미쳐버린 폭군을 제거하기 위해 평민 계급에서 암살을 시도하는 스토리입니다. 백정이자 망나니인 사형집행인이 사실은 한패로 왕궁에 일부러 잡혀들어가 폭군을 제거하는 혁명적 스토리입니다.
그 안에 담긴 또다른 이야기는 슈가가 뮤비 관련 비하인드에서 얘기해줬습니다. 금발의 폭군이 성공으로 끝간데 없이 자만해진 첫 번째 어거스트 디라면 흑발의슈가는 그런 자신을 뛰어넘겠다 이런 얘기구요. 마지막의 사용한 총의 이름이 방탄소년단 팬클럽 이름인 아미라고 합니다. 아마 팬들의 사랑을 통해 극복했다 이런 내용이 아닐까 싶네요.

언더 얘기는 꺼내지말아주세요 단순히 음악작업을 했다는것만으로는 절대 언더에서 활동했다고 못합니다. 저도 방탄 팬이지만 언더얘기는 절대 삼가해주셨으면 해요.슈가가 어릴 때부터 음악을 하고 공연을 한적도 있지만 절대 언더 생활을 하진 않았습니다. 힙씬에서의 언더 생활은 홍대를 중심으로 매일 같이 힙합 클럽에서의 공연과 꾸준한 사클 업로드, 10대 20대를 힙합에만 올인하고 힘든 생활을 겪은 것입니다 그러나 고등학생 시절부터 연습생 생활을 한 슈가는 언더그라운드 생활을 했다고 보긴 어렵습니다. rm도 마찬가지이구요. 대납협 크루에 있고 공연 몇번했던걸로는 절대 힙합 언더 생활을 했다고 말할수는 없습니다. 방탄 멤버중에 제대로 된 언더 생활을 했다고 말할 수 있는건 제이홉뿐일것 같습니다. 물론 랩이 아니라 춤 쪽으로요.

어거스트 디 는 그동안 자신이 겪은 내면과 갈등 그리고 결정 에 대해서 이야기 하는 것 같습니다.
랩하는 사회에서 아이돌 한다고 했을 때 어떤 취급을 받았을지는 안봐도 눈에 선해요.
성공하기 전까지 엄청난 공격과 비난 비웃움을 당했을 겁니다.

앞부분 한자는 말그대로 대취타 입니다.
관악기는 태평소 나각 등등
타악기는 장구와 징 등등 입니다.
So there are two versions of Suga here. A blonde king which represents the old him so ancient old clothing & styling, sword. Suga said he named it "Anger".
He released his 1st mixtape in 2016, he was blonde back then and he was a different person, bit more angry, angsty & he talked about his struggles in that mixtape. The old him also wanted fame, money, more goals, success & he thought it would probably make him satisfied. Now that he's got all that since 2016 to 2020, he's had a realisation that it's not exactly what he expected & that there's possibly no higher place/goal he can achieve so it's time to set feet on the ground (last verse).
That's the new him, with black hair and modern/new clothing, car & gun. The video is basically his new self killing his older self in the end. It represents an inner conflict between his two ideologies, the old one & the new one.
Also Suga said we still don't know if the bullet actually hit the king or not. I think it basically means even though he has reinvented himself as a person over time, even he himself doesn't know his future. Whether his old thoughts are gone or still lingering.
As far as the story line goes, the King is a tyrant. The rebel plans a coup with the butchers/executioners to overthrow the mad king. In the starting scene in the market he exchanged looks with the butchers which was a hint.
Daechwita is traditional Korean military music often played during a King's ceremonial walk.

매번 감탄하고 있습니다
대취타는 왕의 음악을 뜻합니다. 조선시대에는 얼굴에 상처가 있는 왕자는 왕이 되지 못했습니다. 하지만 뮤비에서 보면 얼굴에 상처가 있는 슈가가 왕이 되어있죠. 지금 현재 한국에서는 중소기업 소속의 가난한 아이돌 랩퍼는 성공하기 힘듭니다. 하지만 슈가는 최고로 성공했죠. 뮤비속 두명의 슈가 얼굴에 난 상처는 그것을 의미하는것 같습니다. 정말 멋집니다d

The model of the gun is actually called "Army" which is the BTS fandom name. So the message I interpret is essentially that Yoongi along with Army will not allow himself to become a power-hungry king as his fame grows. He wants to remain the same scrappy person he always has been.

Hi there! The name Agust D comes from "DT Suga" spelled backwards. DT is short for Daegu Town, which is where Suga is from. You're right that "dae" means "big/main". "Chwi" means "to blow" as in to blow a horn and "ta" means "to beat" as in to beat a drum. Daechwita is therefore a great blowing and drumming and was the royal military band that played music for the king's procession and other special occasions. Thank you for a great reaction! 💜

That's why we love all seven guys in BTS, they have different sides to them and their music is very wide ranging, you can vibe to any to suit your mood, their songs are so relatable. They are extremely talented, each and everyone of them. You should check out the three rapper's mix tapes and the solo songs from the four vocal line. You'll see what I mean, each of them have their own sound.

취타(吹打)는 군대가 행진하거나 왕,높은 관리가 행차 할 때 관악기를 불고 타악기를 연주하는 것을 말합니다. 서양의 마칭밴드를 생각하시면 됩니다. 현대의 대취타는 원래 취타를 편곡 한 것이라 합니다. 바닥에 엎드려 있는 것은 절하는 의미도 있지만 예전에는 신분차이가 많이 나면 허락을 받기 전에는 고개를 들어 높은 신분의 사람의 얼굴을 보면 안되기 때문에 땅을 보고 있는겁니다.

"Dae chwi ta" means the outing of a king or a nobleman, and a marching music-style military ritual that was played during an army march (Korea traditional music).
Let's interpret some of the contents of the music video.
1.The blonde king is August D's Sugar (2016. 8. 15. past)
Black hair sugar is the sugar of August D 2 (present and future)
2. There are only 4 dragon claws in the black dragon costume worn by the blonde king.
However, the real king's clothing must have 5 dragon claws.
3. The key holder is made of jade in the car key held by the dark-haired Sugar.
Jade decoration means the king's status in ancient Asia.

Yoongi did an interview where he states the director wanted it to be a very plain video but Agust D wanted this Joseon Dynasty type of back drop. Fun fact, historical shows are one of Yoongi's favorite types of shows. I hear him but they're always so sad!
Agust D is his underground rapper persona. He is battling his angry former self with his present relaxed self. Watch unknown to heroes.
Actually, the mv director wanted the mv to be kind of simple and minimalistic but Yoongi said no. He wants to include these scenes in the mv so basically, we got this mv bc of him. He searched for the swords model by himself and the scar on the eye was so his idea

Hi you two. Pre debut Bts Suga moniker is Gloss. He used Agust D after Bts and decided to use another moniker consist of SUGA spelled backwards plus DT as from Daegu Town. DTSUGA becomes Agust D. As Agust D, his lyrics is more punch in your face and more mature content language wise. As you said, little graphic compared to the all-age appropriate Bts lyrics and visual. Daechwita, according to wiki, is a kind of traditional korean military music.

Agust D is Suga spelled backwards and the DT stands for Daegu Town which is where Suga is from. Also you guys missed Jin and Jungkook being extras that break into a fight in the background. The MV was filmed in a famous and well-preserved historically-themed location called the Dae Jang Geum Park. It was built to showcase how South Korea used to live in the past. Most of the members have released their own mixed tapes. These tapes highlight each members personality and musical interests. While BTS albums showcase all seven members (BTS=7, 8 if you include ARMY). BTS mixed tapes are individual. This song comes from Suga's mixed tape called D-2. “Daechwita” is the Korean word to refer to the traditional marching music played at the time of a royal's arrival. AgustD plays both the emperor and the protagonist staging a coup with the backing of ARMY.

And the other letters are just "Suga" backwards so basically "Daegu Town Suga"

Daechwita is like a marching band that's used to announce the arrival of the king to express his power. the most simple explanation for this MV is that the Suga who's a king is a very cruel tyrant that beheads whoever oppose him hence the Suga who's like a peasant planned to assasinate the tyrant with the help of the executioners and the palace officials as you could see near the end of the MV how they followed Suga thr peasant headbanging and the executioner cutting his rope and handing him the pistol afterwards. BTS rap line are 3 of the best rappers, lyricists and music producers in the world. BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS!
btw, there's an explanation for this MV at DKDK TV channel. hightly recommended to watch. also, AGUST D means Suga from the town of Daegu. Agus is the reversed spelling of Suga while the T is an initial for the word Town and D is for Daegu where Suga came from.

The name Agust D is the reverse of Daugu Town SUGA 🤷♀️ - Yoongi's Home Town and where he started in Underground Rap
He has three PERSONA's:
1. Min Yoongi (true self) - behind the camara, Genius music producer, sweet and kind - with his friends, family and band mates
2. SUGA (Light) - BTS member in front of Camara and on stage and in multitude of content BTS puts out
3. Agust D (Dark) - the Persona that is most raw and that can say and express anything that either Yoongi or Suga cannot. He say what he feels and thinks
Min Yoongi said in the MV interview that the king in the MV is who he bacame when he put out his first Mixtape in 2016 with his song "Agust D", by slaying his haters with his rap and lyrics. The rebel is who he is now and that he doesn't need to do that anymore and figuratively kills of that side of him. But mostly he wanted his fans to enjoy the Look and Feel of the MV and enjoy Listening to the song . . . not really about the meaning.

He basically showing that he shoot his old self, who reached the top, being well known all over the world as part of the member of BTS, but he knew that this kind og thing could influence a human to have greed and having power hunger in some ways i guess, he wanna get rid of it (not losing realistic moral senses, being pampered with pleasures), to get back being grounded, put his feet to earth again metaphorically and not being easily satisfied to worldly temporary things, which shows that he's already at the top now, being successful. He's showing senses of awareness to not get caught up with those kind of things. Its showing his personality who's always contemplative, and see life in a soulful way.. thats why at the end of the mv, his realistic simple but *actually deep* self shoot and kill his elevated self (the King).
Agust D "King version" is a mad king ( he wanted to show that pleasure and being succeed in life can make someone have greed and be selfish and like having pride too high, so he was trying to portray a mad king getting too immersed in his own successes, so that's why somehow in a way he stood on top of his guard or officer's back, and then when the new Agust D being tied up and surrounded by fire when he spits smooth bars, in his lyrics at that scene he said this, "i only looked up and now i look down and put my feet on the ground", he means he (the new Agust D) want to humble himself down, to humble that mad king version of Agust D, so as to not get too caught up with all this "happy pleasures his successes gets" so he turn himself to be mindful, go back being with smart introspective awareness.
