Enjoy these episodes you do. Let's have an episode on Binaural Recording. Methods, DIY techniques using deity Lavs, Personal recording using your own ears or dummy head/ Silicone ears. Best use cases? Scenarios? Ambient recording? Sports? Wildlife? With the right setup you can make the viewer feel as if they are in the action with you. Best simulated through headphones. Maybe a tip just for fun on how we can easily match a pair of your lavs as close as possible? Heard of a way by reversing the phase on one of the channels, will cause cancellation if closely matched. Less cancellation means further off of being matched sensitivity and frequency response wise.
Great stuff! Who thought "slapping on some headphones" has a "tech" to it? Oh yeah - you finally got a guest on here that has an awesome first name. 😀😀😀
Thanks guys, this has been great for me as a novice. Question about recording, with the newer 32 bit float recorders able to capture higher dynamic ranges, should you do anything different in gain staging the mics? Couldn't a lav clip at the mic level before it gets to the recorder, and if so how can you best avoid that without reducing the gain too much? Thanks #mailbag
I'm thinking about going up in the game to a Zoom F6. Does it have all these requirements of pre and post fader and also routing mics to separate listening channels?
Question? I have 4 x Audio-Technica BPHS1 Headsets. As I am sure you know, these headsets have separate XLR for the Mic and a 1/4 Jack for the headphones. I also have a ZOOM F8. I want to connect the 4 headsets to the F8 for recording on t he road Podcasts. Is this possible or do I need some adapter to connect the 4 x XLR connections and also the 4 x 1/4 Jack connections?
Hey! I am trying to do a conference call via computer. I have a mic - hooked up to a mixer - hooked up to my PC. I want to monitor myself via headphones AND hear what's happening on my PC. I used an aux cable to get the sound from my PC into the mixer so i can hear both sources. The problem is that the person on the other end is also hearing themselves through my mixer... any way to get around this? Sorry.. i really couldn't figure out a way to word this very well
I get setting mixes to send to different people so that can hear stuff they want to hear. But why would I set a mix for me (recorder) if I can just solo iso tracks to check up on the inputs?
Great video Andrew. Could tell me or make a video on best way to go about recording dialogue (as clean as possible) when filming in a moving car with has a loud engine and lots of rumble noise. What type of mic and mic placement would you suggest? I already had a situation like this and I used a 120hrz filter but the noise was still as loud as the voices. Anything else other then ADR the scene.
How do you like to set up your headphone mix?

How to get the most out of the use of the Deity connect system with the HD-TX combo for interview versus narrative shoots.

Is Sandisk SDXC 64gb 170kb/s acceptable by Zoom H6 handy recorder?

There is already a video on that topic on this channel: th-cam.com/video/cD6f-YM5DFY/w-d-xo.html
That is tough, but I have used a combination of the AT 4053b and lavs. Or ADR. ADR gets a bad rap, but it can work miracles.
Thanks for the video.🍹👍
What Talkback Mic do you use on set?
