@@ojackseizemg4020 Mullen was the first to do the flat ground ollie. So Mullen is credited to the flat ground ollie, and Gelfand is credited with Ollies in a bowl, or wall. Gelfand did his ollie, and then Mullen copied it and did it in a different setting.

I'm 36 and have ridden BMX since I was a kid. I've had the privilege of getting to hang out and ride with pros that were my idols growing up (Dave Mirra, Van Homan, Taj Mihalich...etc, people who's posters were lining my walls as a teenager) and it's amazing to me how down to earth and friendly some of these top pros are. Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen are literally the 2 biggest things that have ever happened to skateboarding and seem like they would fit perfectly in that category and there is no doubt in my mind these guys are super friendly and appreciative of everyone that looks up to them.

"It's mocking me" - that is exactly the kind of relationship i imagine Rodney having with Skateboarding. He is like a child chasing a magical creature. And everytime he things he caught it or mastered it or whatever, it kinda laughes at him. "not yet Rodney, there is so much more to see. Look at this. Follow me." Come to think of it - it's like the Search for Animal Chin.
He is just the Goat. I am 45, i grew up with McGill, Mountain, Caballero, The Birdman etc. I have so much nostalgia watching him Definately one of my Heroes.

@@icantollieHow? Just want to see what you mean. Since I think he is pretty much a prodigy when it comes to skating. Let me explain my point:
Rodney was just skating and during those early times of skateboarding, the board was mainly just meant to be ridden through the streets. He was a young boy having fun, unbeknownst to him he created the foundation to skateboarding we know today. A legitimate sport too, which happens to even be in olympics nowadays.
He is a true trailblazer. I don't genuinely know the meaning of prodigy if that doesn't fit the criteria. Can you explain? Not being a dick, just curious.
      Greetings from Finland 😊
