It's early 2014. You just came home from high school, turned on your PC and went on CSGOLounge. You see that there are 5 matches of Tier1 teams playing faceit spring 2014 league, fighting for points - they need them to advance to LAN finals. You turn on twitch, where you hear Bardolph and DDK casting... This is your everyday. Life's good.
Honestly counter strike never felt the same once they removed csgolounge... The fun I've had while hanging out on teamspeak with my friends watching the games and spamming "thank you for skin delivery" when you won something... bro those were the times
@@rafaellllllllllllllllllll For sure, but it'll be as great as the souvenir of csgo! I believe CS2 as just a cold start because of the world we live in. But the game will become a masterpiece just as csgo and source were.
We will but it will never feel the same way because as we go further into esports it becomes more and more professional and the "unprofessionalism" imo is what makes it feel really special. I think CSGO had the best balance of "unprofessionalism" and professionalism, also the personalities that cs 1.6/early CSGO nurtured because of small LANs where people had to play in order to get to the big boy tournaments were a crucial part too imo. Right now you have a fuckton of online tournaments with 50-100k prize pools(sometimes even 500k) and FPL and those people dont have to go out "into the real world" which doesnt test their character as much and doesnt build the personality.
It’s 2014. You open up CSGO. You see that there is a new case. You don’t have money to buy and open a new case. You beg your dad to give you some money so you can open at least 1 case. Your father gives you a strict condition. For exchange of money, you’ll have to get A+ in all subjects. You agree. You open the case. You get a covert rifle. The design looks cool. You play with it all day. Then suddenly next day something happens to your computer. Your parents don’t have enough money to fix it. You stop playing CSGO. Then you have the obligation to get A+ in all your classes. So you study hard. You forget about gaming. You study day and night. You get A+ in all classes. You forget about gaming. You forget about CSGO. You forget about that nice cool skin that you unlocked. You make new friends that summer. You hangout with them. You play soccer with them. Time flies by. Your parents don’t have the money to fix the computer. But you don’t care. None of your friends game, so you give up on the computer. Fast forward to 2018. You graduate and get a job. You finally have enough money to buy a new computer. Just for memories, you download steam. You download CSGO. You can’t believe you haven’t played this game in 4 years. You boot up the game. Everything feels different. You go to your inventory. You finally see the cool skin that you unlocked. Just out of curiosity, you check how much the skin is selling for. Your jaw drops. That skin is worth almost your PC. Fast forward to 2024. You still haven’t sold the skin. It is still your most favourite skin. When you tell your father how much you spent to open the case and get the skin vs how much it is worth today, your dad laughs it off. Doesn’t believe you. But you are happy with your skin. You don’t wanna sell it no matter how much it is selling for. R.I.P. CSGO. Thanks for giving me a Howl.
That's oddly specific. But good story and good to know that life is treating you well. I personally joined the CSGO party a little too late. But I can feel your story, had a similar experience with Call of Duty: Black Ops 1. Was a console player back then. Moved, made new friends - all of them were PC gamers. Switched to PC as well, then, after some time, played less and less. That happy feeling I had when I found my PlayStation 3, de-dust(ed) [sorry, had to do it] it, booted and realized Black Ops 1 was still inside. Man... time was good, it still is. Just different, which isn't necessarily bad.
The only game in my life I've "learnt". A game I was invested in the eSports, watched majors, rushed home from College to play, was through Every update, played in teams, went to LANS, Met some online friends I still talk to, to this day, Was through all the controversies, all the gambling sites, scams, evolution of the maps, sounds, skins, a game I have almost a year of my life in play time alone in. The game I played non stop through college. You don't think back then it would be a point you look back at a game and think I remember moments from 10 Years ago and all the memories along the way. CS:GO really is something. A game I've grow and change as I've grown as a person myself. Great video.
Man where did the time go, it's so nostalgic but also so wild to me. I'm 30 now, I was still in university for a lot of those clips, it's so crazy to think it's almost a decade since I went to a local theater with a friend to watch the CS major between FNC and Envy on a bit of a whim (we had played CS as kids and casually played CSGO) and was immediately hooked to CS esports.
GO was such a big part of my life for so many years, never stopped playing it, always tried to get better, always wanted to go pro. When you say a video game has been a huge part in your life, something that taught you lessons that you'll never forget, people look at you like you're crazy or stupid. CSGO has helped me make friends, given me something to be happy about, and so much more. I'll never forget any of these clips and I'll never forget what GO gave me for so many years. I just regret I didn't fully appreciate the golden age of CS that I was living in. No idea why this video made me emotional, but salute CSGO. You will never be forgotten.
this was honestly such a great video. i was watching that liquid vs luminosity game live and my god, the insanity that went around it...i miss it so much. i miss everything about it.
As a mac user this is even more touching as i havent been able to play cs2 - genuine emotion from a videogame is hard to bring about, and yet i doubt there's a CS player out there that hasn't been brought to joy and brought to tears
Ay man even though I did not play CSGO back in the day (started when it went free to play), this still felt nostalgic, I love this game with my heart and soul!
Honestly I cried a tear, I think I watched most of those clips live The Happy deagle ace hit me the hardest, it was late night in France and was looking at the stream on the phone and I just stood up in the bed, shooked, as it happens and screamed silently to not wake up my parents Good times, had no one to share it the day but now i'm so happy it happens ! Thanks for the throwback :')
i don't think that cs:go was only about cybersport like in this video... you know, those moments when some major game changes appeared, like the first week after the release of R8, like some unbelievable boosts on overpass, like m4a1/m4a4 meta changes, like the release of a new case or operation, like your first expensive week drop or case drop, like your first global in mm or vl10 on faceit, like a new friend which you encountered in game, like a new personal record of kills in game, like a cool evening spent with your friends in game, like a hard stuck on specific rang for several months, like a major win/lose streak... like a good youth spent in the good game that was the csgo which i memorize...
It's crazy how many memories we share as a community that we will always remember and look back on with nostalgia. Thanks for sharing this, it was well put together and really makes me miss the csgo days.. 🥲
cs 2 is still great, just had so many good times in csgo its hard to forget.. met one of my best homies on there and still play with someone i consider a brother i met back in grade 4 haha
For some reason I get chills in my whole body. It's not as good as most of the other clips, but ScreaM with that headshot, was one weird day. Somehow we didn't know that we had all of the best moments ahead of us. How I would love to go back and do all of this again. Thank you, Global Offensive. Until next time.
