I started as a summer student. No longer at TB San. It was an Institution for the Developmentally Delayed until it's closure in 1993. As a Nurse I spent many years there. By the late 80's and early 90's , adult residents lived on all floors. The 5th floor was for children, however, by thr late 80's 5th floor no longer had children. Health Services was on 5th floor with the old 5E being a behavior wing. The decay breaks my heart.
When i lived in Gravenhurst Muskoka many of my husbands friends wives worked at what had become a facility for children with severe mental handicaps. The Sanitarium then was in good shape and well run. Sorry to see its decay.
Just ridiculous that this has been left to decay. Look at the location, it should have been turned into a resort or hotel, disgusting that all that money was spent & then left to rot
I did training scenarios there with the OPP in the late 90s. It was in rough shape then. There were empty simunition casing everywhere. We also fogged the whole kitchen with OC to train to make arrests while exposed to OC.
Really cool building boy. I can imagine what it would be like if he'd walk through there in the middle of the night. That'd be really creepy, however, love the video
Good afternoon from Cape Cod ⛵ This building is in deplorable condition, it must have taken a lot of effort for people to destroy it that much. As always it was quite interesting following you guys around, thanks for putting in the effort and bringing great content to us. ✌️🇺🇲
there's a noise at 8:24, 8:42, and 8:56. Is that some kind of interference, or was it something you've added over the video? I too did see the moving bright/white object at the bottom of the stairwell at 10:04, I'll assume that you didn't see it in the moment or you probably would have said something. Thank you for taking the time to plan these excursions, I'm fascinated with the old buildings and tunnels! I always look forward to your next video upload. Thanks for all the trouble you must go through planning and traveling to make these videos, it's very appreciated.
Wow it appears that they still plow the snow looking out the window of the blue room. I just stumbled across your channel and and surprised I haven't seen it before being that I'm always watching this type of thing and even more interesting is because I'm not that far from there. I actually asked my older mom if she's ever heard of the place and apparently not. She actually lived in Temagami so I figured that she may have. But anyway looking forward to seeing what you have on your channel. It's a pretty much a given I will see you in the comment section again soon 👍 🇨🇦
Video would been real cool if there was some background research of place added been in Gravenhurst my whole life I'm 42 my grandma worked there for a yr wouldn't ever talk about it
This could not have been filmed two weeks ago--- Gravenhurst was under a state of emergency with intense snowfall that closed highways , cut power lines, and left hundreds of people stranded, unable to even get out their front door. You see bare pavement in this... definitely not done two weeks ago.
Very dangerous Dave. So icy, watch your step and your head wherever you go here. Sketchy for sure. When did you shoot this? No snow please. Haha!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks for sharing your experience and memories of this place!
would you remember a lady by the name of Georgie Pukler... or Georgie McCoy? she was my mom and worked there for a couple decades

Glad you enjoyed it
Such a huge place! Thanks for sharing with us!

Last I heard was that a company from China was putting a bid in for the property to develop it into a resort.............
I like both your and Riddim Riders videos, and it great to have come videos mixed in where you are exploring together.
Thanks guys for the epic adventure!

Wow that’s incredible
Excellent video

What a waste to let it just rot away. It looks like it was a really nice hospital at one time.
Sadly it has asbestos
Could have housed the homeless but nope.
I see that the Muskoka spray paint industry is doing well.

i see riddum got his light back, and that climb out the window was epic

So cool, I lived in gravenhurst, Killworthy for many years and had no idea this was there
At 10:04 who was that with the light all the way at the bottom of the stairwell? Another great video and location as always.
I saw it, too. I think it was a reflection off of the water at the bottom.
watched it again in slow motion, it was a paint chip accidently kicked into the stairwell by his boot
Hope u feel better Soon

Was this where people with TB were kept in the early 1900's?

Nice find very old building
Thanks for the adventure. Like your outrow.😂❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Surprised it hasn’t been sold to a developer to demolish and build condos. Beautiful Lakefront property
I agree, it’s a beautiful spot.
Thanks awesome place I enjoyed watching
That place is pretty wrecked
They still clear the snow in the parking lots??
You could easily get lost😮
Should be declared a historic property and restored for affordable housing
Did I hear a woman talking right after you said see all the ice. Around 9:30
Correction 19:29
I had a buddy with me, but he's not a woman !
@Freaktography I know you had someone with you, maybe it was just the way the muffled sound traveled but it did sound kinda weird
How about some actually histroy of the building?
Video would been real cool if there was some background research of place added been in Gravenhurst my whole life I'm 42 my grandma worked there for a yr wouldn't ever talk about it
Did you ever give his flashlight back

This building reminds me of the abandoned insane asylum in orillia
It's a police academy now

You never give Zay a plug and never show her
unfortunately she wasnt with us

@Freaktography
Oh, I heard it. Lol, I almost blew coffee out my nose. Didn't see that coming, lol. My kids beside me, hahaha
Why not knock it down and build on the land?
These places need to be converted to shelter for the homeless.
You are right
All you have to do is throw a piece of cardboard on the floor and walla converted right 🤔
@ hmmm if that’s what building code in your city is like than yeah ok...
