Age, she and I, 60. I'm retiring next year, she does side gigs, real estate (more nuisance than its worth these days), online auctions, etc. SSI taking at 62: $4100/mo, credit debt: zero. Child: 22, homeowner, fully self-sufficient. Assets: $820k liquid, $500k real estate equity. Cars: all owned outright, I do all maintenance on them and the house. Medical: ACA until 65 plus HSA for out of pocket expenses. Traveling plans: (w/dog) he goes with us in an RV. We'll be ok.

I retired at 62 and went on Obamacare. No premium payments for 3 years by using the bronze plan and keeping income below the subsidy limit. Packed a HSA to cover the deductible. I got lucky and with the right investment planner, returns actually had more in my HSA after I reached medicare age compared to when I first retired.

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. Don't want to take any chances.

There are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’ Becky Lou Gordon” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.

Hi Azul, congrats on your retirement! I’m in Australia and also speak some Spanish. I’m currently 52 and looking to retire at 60 when my wife and I can access our superannuation (401k equivalent here). In the meantime, we are trying to travel as much as possible while working. We are planning to take about 12 months of long service leave in 2028 and slow travel in Europe. I’m also planning to walk one of the Camino routes in Spain next year with my son. I’ve enjoyed your channel and don’t know how you keep up with posting daily videos. All the best for your trip to Guatemala.

I thought this might be the case, based on some of your videos. My husband retired in April at 61 at my request. My mother died last year, I am an only child, and we wanted to spend our lives together without the stress of his work (I've been out of the workforce for years as a parent and then a caregiver). Time is our most precious commodity and it should be spent with those we love. Congratulations! ETA - I meant to say that your video on 5 reasons to retire as soon as you can was instrumental in me asking my husband to retire early. Thank you so much for helping me to see the value in that decision. He said today that Sunday night is his favorite because he doesn't have to get up and go anywhere on Monday!

I started watching your channel about a year ago and it’s helped motivate me to energize my saving so I can enjoy that last 1000 weeks.

Congrats on your retirement. It sure sounds like you have a good plan and plenty to do and enjoy. I retired at 46 9 years ago and did many of the things you suggest. I took classes and did special events I didn't have the time for while working. I travel a lot and am planning to move to the EU. I dove into my hobbies and got to enjoy them without the back to work pressure hanging over my head. Trying new things, making new friends in new places while traveling have meant so far no concern for what to do or getting bored. There are still plenty of events on the bucket list especially while healthy and able. Best of luck in your journey. Enjoy every day and don't look back everything is ahead.

I had a 90 day plan when I retired -- Cleanse, Connect, Configure (each 30 days long). How naive! 😂 Two years later and I'm still in the Configure stage -- and it's wonderful. The joy comes in being open to the people, ideas, and opportunities that float in front of you, and less from rigid planning. Love hearing your experience, Azul, and how similar it has been to mine.

Congratulations. I just turned 60 in early September and I retired at the end of August. I agree with so much of your video. I love that I can take my time and not have to rush. I am trying to figure out my passions now. I’m taking my time and trying to pay attention to the things I really enjoy doing. While I was working and being a single mom, I didn’t really take the time to develop hobbies or figure out my passions, I do know I want to travel more. I’ve taken 2 trips since my retirement, but I can’t travel 100% of the time. Best of luck to you. I will be watching and following you on this journey

Congratulations! I planned on retiring at 58 and am now 60. I could have retired at 58 but decided to sell my business to my son-in-law and decided to stick around a couple more years to help get him up to speed and am looking at retirement the first of 2025. I also changed a couple of Annuities that would have had a slow growth and extended them another two years so once i am 62 they will kick in and will more than cover my monthly expenses until the day I die.
Very happy with my financial advisors advice on where to put my money for the long haul and finance my wife’s and my assisted care in the future if I should ever need it and if not, then the kids get that money. Wish me luck.

Congratulations on your retirement! Making that pivot from being a saver to being a spender is really a challenge. It just goes against everything you've done your whole working life. But now that I'm a few years into my retirement, I've learned to feel fine when I see my bank account balance go down rather than being alarmed. And I'm splurging on more things, for instance flying in business class for long, overnight flights. Retirement is the time to spend that money you saved, to enjoy it in the way that pleases you the most. Enjoy!

I got forced into early retirement @56, worked on Space Shuttle and shuttle program ended they laid us all off. Started walking the next day to undo 30 years of sitting behind a desk, now I have walked over 14,000 miles and 40 pounds lighter. Investments did well, paid all my expenses and savings grew $1 million. Body is deteriorating, had knee injury that took 1.5 years of physical therapy. Now I have hip labrum tear.which makes me walk like Biden, think I can walk my way to recovery. Section hike Appalachian Trail every spring and plan to continue that until I die.

Congratulations Azul! I retired this year at 58 but without much of a plan of what to do next. I've been doing a bit of traveling (domestically) to see relatives, friends, and see what's out there. Also been working on projects that I haven't had a chance to before. My greatest concern is, of course, the unknown. Going from a saver to a spender is needing some getting used to.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
information can be a big hurdle. I've been
making more than $200k passively by just
investing through an advisor, and I don't have
to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my

As a beginner investor, it's essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Melanie Ann Karnavas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessment, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.
