Cthulhu could be interesting in a more horror focused Kaiju movie, considering his mere presence causes insanity, on a city wide scale it would be similar to Godzilla's radioactivity in the original movie.
Hey, I've been writing a Godzilla fan series (similar to Matt Frank's Godzilla Neo) where I've added a few Lovecraftian elements to one of Godzilla's most famous foes, Destoroyah. In my version, Destoroyah wasn't spawned from the Oxygen Destroyer, but rather he's a body less entity within another universe. He's older than our own universe and far more twisted and sadistic than even the most vile of human beings. However, he's unable to enter our physical world because he doesn't have a physical body. And the only way he can enter our universe is through possessing a living creature through the micro oxygen, a substance that is from his universe.
I’ve thought for a while that King Ghidorah has always had Lovecraftian elements. His origin, his appearance. Heck, if you watch the Japanese cut of his first film, there’s a quote of bit of dread attached to him.
Godzilla literally *grinned and chuckled* in Godzilla vs. Kong. I'd say that definitively proves that most if not all Titans are, at the very least, on the same cognitive level as great apes and dolphins. Kong doesn't get to hog all of the intelligence. Not anymore. Even in the Showa continuity, Godzilla learned from his failures against both Kong and Mothra's larva and would begin approaching new enemies from a more cerebral angle. Is Cthulhu able to communicate with humans? Does he use telepathy or some odd? Because if so, I'd argue that he is a seijin as seen in Ultraman and other super hero tokusatsu. He would also share celestial status with Mothra, who, because she's an insect who only speaks in chirps, requires the aid of telepaths or fairy folk to impart her will to Man.
I Love “Godzilla Vs Kong” because of The Big Gs Expressiveness and also agree on The “Ctulhu Being An Uchujin”-Sentiment, possibly similar to some Aliens From The Showa Ultraman Series, Specifically “The Return Of Ultraman”, where Some Seijin Species Have Used various Earth Bound Folklore Legends To Their Advantages, For Instance: Alien Black Used The Snow Woman Legend To His Benefit whereas Alien Varduck Hid under the “Abdominal Snowman”-Label To Work Undeterred. I hope my point comes across given that there are even more examples to take inspiration from then these two
"Cthulhu is more than just a big monster. He has a personality and plans and --! " *SpaceGodzilla enters the chat* *And also the official Monsterverse art already*
If The Mythos itself was introduced, the main stories at least…wouldn’t that mean that the only non-hostile Kaiju would be The Yithians and maybe The Dunwitch Horror?
I feel like some version of Cthulhu (maybe have him be classified as a Titan instead of a member of the Star Spawn, which is a species all it’s own) or a fusion of several Great Old Ones would work in the Monsterverse, they would just have to play it very carefully so it isn’t looked at as goofy or out of place. Considering the Hollow Earth is a thing, perhaps there is something sleeping there, long thought dead, ready to reawaken and wreak havoc on the world.
In countries all around the pacific, seismographs record an earthquake in the heart of the pacific. At the same time, Monarch detect Godzilla suddenly changing course, making a b-line for the epicentre of the quake. Down in the hollow earth Kong looks up towards the surface as if hearing something no one else can. Following Godzilla, Monarch are shocked to see an island rising from the seabed festooned with the waterlogged ruins of ancient humans similar in style to those found in Godzilla’s old home yet different. The statues are of no known titan, and some of the architecture is strangely misshapen. As Monarch begin preliminary deciphering of the ruins Godzilla makes landfall. The island rocks under his weight, revealing the ancient city is partially built upon soapstone, hence its floating to the surface having been dislodged by the earthquake. Godzilla stomps towards the mountain at the centre of the island where a giant rough-hewn stone slab as big as a skyscraper leans. The slab shudders, shifts, begins to tip. Godzilla charges and slams into the slab, pressing his full weight against it. The titans living in the hollow earth are becoming uneasy. Calls of ever sort echo around the immense caverns. In the distance shadowy shapes appear from nooks and crannies, blossoming out into fetid swarms that roll across the sky. Kong, staring up in wonder and unease, braces himself. On the island, Godzilla, pushing with all his might, takes a step back as something heaves against the stone slab. In the shadow behind the slab tentacles writhe and a triple set of watery eyes stare. Something has awoke. Something wants to get out.
If Cthulu can work as a kaiju then I'm all for having him in the monsterverse. I doubt the general audience would really care about his original interpretation and if they like him then more financial success. Time will tell
Personally, I'd like to see Cthulhu or even The Kraken (Clash of the Titans version) in the MonsterVerse. The only issue with Cthulhu being the "final boss" for Godzilla and Kong is that Kong can't do anything in the water. If Cthulhu can come on to land then I could see it working. Godzilla battles Cthulhu in the ocean first. Godzilla loses (or it's a tie). Then the final battle is on land with Godzilla and Kong. But if Cthulhu is only a sea-based creature, then I'm not sure how it could work with BOTH Godzilla and Kong.
It’s probably worth mentioning that Cthulhu has almost crossed over with Godzilla TWICE. from what I heard they almost had a versus movie in the Hesei era but they ultimately made Godzilla Vs SpaceGodzilla instead. As well as IDW planing to finish of their main series with Godzilla Vs Cthulhu, but Toho apparently had a no crossover policy so they made Godzilla in hell instead.
Toho seems to be a little more lenient with comic crossovers now with Godzilla vs Power Rangers happening so who knows maybe IDW will soon get to do Godzilla vs Cthulhu
In your Godzilla vs Humanism video you said something important, what separates the monsterverse from being full lovecraft horror was that the titans were powerful but also benevolent creatures that represent the natural order. The Cthulhu mythos seems to be an allegory for the unknown which is lovecraft viewed as unnatural and malicious, so Cthulhu could fit into the monstervserse if he played a similar role to Ghidorah in king of the monsters and was made extraterrestrial and intentionally not part of the natural order.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Bird Box whose creatures were heavily influenced by the works of Lovercraft and Underwater whose director confirmed the giant monster is called Cthulhu meaning the swarm of smaller creatures might be the Deep Ones
I feel like if not horror twist it be like gamera but they relise cuthulu is causing him to rampage and human characters to act like rage filled zombies this is how you could make well round characters in a giant monster movie. Sum: make cuthulu affect plots of humans and monster but in a way it blends well Example of Explaination: Micheal channlers character hears a awful sound he tries to cover his ears realising does not help. He tells his daughter to lock the door but she her self is struggling but barely manages to lock it. They then both sit up against door. They slide notes until the noise creepily stops. It then shows a montage of humans everywhere with the expression that days what just happend. And throws a title card after showing godzilla having an angered look stomping back to the ocean to find the source.
7:44 - in the original story, "The Call of Cthulhu," Cthulhu was temporarily defeated by being rammed by a ship so it may be possible that it could be permanently destroyed. Though I suspect it would take more than being poked by a ship to do so.
It will definitely be a bit of a slippery slope for Legendary to include Cthulhu into the Monsterverse, simply due to his reputation and how he's been cemented as an unknowable, unimaginable and nigh-invincible eldritch being today. I can see Cthulhu being introduced into the Monsterverse, and Legendary is certainly capable of creating an interesting adaptation of him into the lore of the Monsterverse as well. Personally though, I would prefer for an already existing Kaiju from the Godzilla series to be the final antagonist when the Monsterverse is at its end rather than something like Cthulhu as a final fan-favorite creature to include. Maybe something like Destroyah or Biollante as the final antagonist.
Idk. As much as I want Dez in the MV, I don't think he should be the final boss. If he has to, don't let him be like the Thanos or Darkseid of the MV. I don't want Marvel to call Legendary out for copying Thanos, and I don't want DC to call Legendary out for copying Darkseid. Just let Dez be himself, maybe even update him a bit in terms of design and characteristics. He's the Spawn of Hell, not a clone of a comic book villain.
@@noahstickley9774 He said that Dez would be the final antagonist of the series, that’s all he would have in common with Thanos or Darkseid. He wouldn’t be copying anything.
My take on this, if they bridge the power gap between Godzilla and Cthulhu, then by all means go for it. I just want to see Legendary throw more new monsters and old classics into the mix before they go tacking the Lovecraftian pantheon to the roster.
I wrote a few outlines including Lovecraftian lore with the monsterverse in potential pitch ideas for future monsterverse films. I do believe they can be included, but I don't think it will be included.
yeah he should be in there but not just as kaiju but as a monster god that do many things and can be killed but will come back again and again as he can never really die
There's a fan fiction "Godzilla vs Cthulhu" short story floating around, at least I suppose it still is, the internet and/or Usenet. I can't find it now but I still have my hard copy laying around somewhere.
I’m gonna have to say Cthulhu won’t fit in the MV. He’s influenced in the media and majority to be a cosmic inter-dimensional being and the newer renditions of the Cthulhu mythos away from H.P Lovecraft’s version doesn’t help since that sways away from what he made originally. There’s fans around the newer series too. So unfortunately I don’t see that panning out too well unless they wanna be called out for nerfing Cthulhu when Legendary isn’t and have all the modern Cthulhu fans get pissed at ehm.
I've actually toyed with the idea of a Godzilla-Cthulhu crossover, although I admit that most of it has not been towards the Monsterverse, I usually envisioned it as its own standalone thing. I do have a "mental draft" for a movie, although I admit that it's pretty "out there" in terms of the events, concepts put in, and more. I think I had the idea of Godzilla and Cthulhu causing a literal apocalypse during their fight, humanity attempting to evacuate the Earth during their fight, humans, animals, certain kaiju, and some aliens going insane due experiencing Cthulhu and the Great Old Ones, reality warping, Godzilla being MUCH smaller than Cthulhu but still putting up one hell of a fight, Godzilla not being a natural creature, Earth being destroyed, and more.
I find it ironic that this video was posted when I just was thinking about adding Cthulhu and other Lovecraftian entities and themes to my own kaijuverse.
After how comedic KOTM and GvsK were I cannot picture the MonsterVerse having actual Lovecraftian vibes unless they start separating character tones like how Godzilla 2014 and Kong Skull Island feel.
But wait. There are two issues that having Cthulhu might have. 1. If he's supposed to be superior than anything on Earth, how would Godzilla, Kong and the rest even stand a chance? 2. If the Earth Titans do defeat or even kill Cthulhu, wouldn't that cause an outcry from Lovecraft purists?
I like the idea of a chthuhu like creature more than a literal chthuhlu being on the godzilla monsterverse and possibly any live action film as a whole for a number of different reasons. 1. I would rather the mainstream audience get a proper movie expirience of what a lore accurate cthuhlu is like so that the hype is there more and they don’t get the impression that The monsterverse version is “the main one.” 2. While there is a convergence in beings greater than humanity can fathom between Godzilla and the lovecraft mythos, I think the contrast of hope and existential dread that would happen within the monsterverse would cause a sort of imbalance in themes. 3. The monsterverse should make their own original big bad sooner or later. Of course this doesn’t rule out cthuhlu but i’m not sure why he deserves final boss privlages. Its like how heisei wanted to use satan but we lucked out with destoroyah instead.
Actually the original works do talk about higher dimensions and transcending our reality, mainly “Through the Gates of the Silver Key”, and other HPL works such as the Mountains of Madness talk of the thought that the Old Ones came from a separate space-time continuum. There are actually multiple works that have these implications in the original canon of the Cthulhu Mythos, and it’s generally easy to find especially in communities like that of the power-scaling community. Even just going by only Lovecraft’s own works, this is still a concept that has shown up in multiple of his tales. That being said even if that wasn’t true, Cthulhu and the Mythos’ view on monsters seems to stand against how the Monsterverse generally portrays the Kaiju. And this is a personal opinion but I feel like putting Cthulhu up against Godzilla in the Monsterverse would cheapen both. Cthulhu’s over used in pop-culture and I don’t know it feels like that putting Cthulhu in a universe that is very “gritty” as it were (not realistic but has a buyable reality) it feels like the Great Old one would break that feeling. That could just be me though. I did like this video though, well done as usual Omni.
@@denistyrant While the Cthulhu Mythos imo you could argue to be far higher than what has currently been shown in Singular Point in terms of dimensions, it definitely has better theming at the very least. 4th dimensional Godzilla that actually looks like Godzilla, opposed to the space noodles trying to look like a dragon from the anime trilogy. But yeah I can agree with the battle being a better choice. Monsterverse Godzilla, though virtually a god among the titans in his universe, isn't anything even to the lesser gods of the Cthulhu Mythos, at least imo. All of that is up to interpretation of course.
On Idea Wiki i made a page about Shin Gamera AKA Gamera vs Cthulhu. Why i chose Cthulhu is because i wanted Gamera to fight a creature who's also triphibious.
Hey, Omni, have you checked the recent fallout of Dune (2021)???? Apparently, there's been debates surrounding the film and the original book that' I don't want to go into detail cause it's a bit sad, so I'd want to hear your stance on this issue in a future video at some point. But on the topic of Cthulhu in the MV, I've kind of talked about it (I think JoJira on his Twitter account QT'd it and I replied to it, someone else replied to mine), and he can MAYBE work. He'd be THE most difficult kaiju to be added to MonsterVerse, not because of what he IS or what he DOES, but because of what the people who follow his work might think, and it can be followers of any version of him (Lovecraft or later works). There would be countless debates. Should he fit in or should he just sit it all out????? Let Legendary decide, they love doing the impossible, they've done it 4 times. They can certainly do it a 5th time. We just have to wait until they announce a plan for the future.
I don’t know why some fans are so obsessed on limiting the possibilities to go on in the Monsterverse. They won’t accept anything that isn’t from Toho being added. They’d rather have Gorosaurus just a big dinosaur than something like Ultraman which could add a whole new perspective and lore to the MV.
I mean we can. It’s just that we either want something different or that’s not influenced enough by the media to cause a huge fit. We’re open yes, but we want the universe to succeed not fail.
I haven't seen fans say they won't accept anything that's not from toho. Fans are open to new and classic kaiju but obviously classic kaiju will always draw more attention than newer ones especially when newer ones are unpredictable and there's basically nothing much new fans can ask for when it comes to new titans. Classic kaiju are something fans know of by heart which is why fans ask for them. Plus ultraman is a bit much for the monsterverse gorosaurus honestly fits better also both characters are literally classic characters be befin with
@@jamesvarela233 newer titans are literally on screen for only a couple seconds unless they have a part to play in the plot itself. They don't cost anything so financially wise making newer titans means less money but bringing in classic kaiju allows Americans to have better exposure to the genre and its roots. Both situations work for opposing reasons
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Americans for long term doesn’t gain any of so much influence over the Toho ones unfortunately. By having them get exposed to western audiences won’t do much for obvious reasons. Which in this case unfortunately won’t be enough to give them credit and interest to further undergo more films with how much they spent for the license. There’s a line between bringing folks back in good faith and for bringing new ones to gain a profit. In that sense at the end of the day the new ones is what would help a ton in returns over the monsters in Japan that they would have to throw darts on who’s good or not.
Godzilla and the "Titans" in the Monsterverse are basically elevated to the status of God-Hood by this new continuity. On these lines, Cthulu might actually _fit._ But keeping that in mind...he's not the _same kind of God_ that Godzilla and the others are depicted as. Because Godzilla and his menagerie are largely benevolent - at least most of the time - and don't seem to do _anything_ to humanity outside of collateral damage. Cthulu's mere presence seems to cause madness in the minds of those unfortunate enough to witness him. I don't see Godzilla or any other monster being capable of that. So I think that if Cthulu is introduced in the Monsterverse, he would have some kind of psychic ability. But still, I am not sure he _fits_ with the precedent that has been set. You say that most of Cthulu's modern mythos doesn't come from Lovecraft but from subsequent adaptations. You also say that Godzilla and the others have long since changed from their original incarnations and have become much more than they used to be. That's really the same for Cthulu isn't it? So effectively, if Godzilla and the others are now on God-Status, which Cthulu already was...then technically by now, Cthulu should still be beyond them. And keep in mind, all of this is coming from a guy who believes that if Goji and Cthulu ever came to blows, Cthulu would prove to have a _glass jaw._
I am not a fan of Cthulhu or Lovecraft, simply because Cosmic Horror hasn't appealed to me before... and I think Cthulhu is... a tad overrated BUT I have grown more open minded toward the Mythos in recent years. That said I think Godzilla vs Cthulhu is a good idea. In fact, I wish we could simply use the recent film UNDERWATER as a sort of "set-up" film, just retcon that it is a part of the Monsterverse (which would not actually contradict anything in any of the films), so that the crossover could hit the ground running. That won't happen of course... but one can dream. One can understand that if this happened that the "Lovecraft fans" would not be happy about it, because "it's not true to the original work, you are ruining the character!" To which I say: "There is a Cthulhu dating simulator... this idea would be a step up from that." I also see people arguing that Cthulhu would have to be nerfed to fight Godzilla... which just sounds absurd to me. I don't know what Cthulhu's powers are or what level they are, other than puny humans are overwhelmed by his mere presence... except Godzilla is not a human. You can label Cthulhu a god, that's a fine. But Godzilla is also a god... whether one admits it or not. They are Both ancient beings of Will, Intelligence and Incredible Power that surpasses human comprehension. That's WHY a fight between them would work. There is a gravitas to it. There are obvious stakes involved. This is not King versus God... this is God versus God. Godzilla is facing an opponent that is perhaps impossible for him to defeat. Cthulhu is actually facing something more than small tiny little flesh creatures off some mudball, he's actually dealing with something not only able to fight him but might even have the power to match his own! While the record of the Monsterverse does not inspire confidence that this crossover would receive the level of sophistication it deserves, they could pull off the pop culture spectacle it merits. Thank You for Reading.
I concur! Though maybe Godzilla and Ctulhu could fight to Tie and then build up a truce... or you could have it like in “Ghidorah, The Threeheaded Monster”, where the two go at each other at first but then either Nodens (Another Lovecraftian Entity) or Mothra would try convincing them to quit their quarrels in order to fight someone or something worse than both of them
Late comment, but I don't think Cthulhu belongs in the Monsterverse. I wouldn't want Cthulhu to overshadow Ghidorah, Destoroyah, Mechagodzilla and Biollante.
I'd want cthulu in just because it's probably the most recognizable big monster they can get. But I'd wonder what it'll do? Most of the stories I know of cthulu just "don't wake it up" and it ends when it's woken up. Yes it's a dreamer, yes there's a cult trying to wake it up, yes it's meant to turn people mad but I highly doubt they'd do a story of preventing it being woken and not having godzilla fight it. Personally I'd have cthulu be gigantic. Bigger than king ghidorah. Have it moving through the water cause massive tsunamis. Have it not that it's appeance causes people to go mad have it be that people give up. They dealt with so many kaijus that so many people just give up. Possibly mass suicide even. Just them seeing another bigger badder kaiju makes people give up on life. They can do a ancient cult thing I just would hope they'd make it less like ghidorah where a group did research and wanted to unearth it. I rather the idea there is a cult and we accidentally woke it up and possibly the cult helps spread despair. Now for powers obviously i want cthulu to wrap the tentacle mouth thing around godzilla and fly him into the air and drop them. But I'm not sure about other powers that isn't generic "causes hurricanes with the wings" and all. Maybe do something like starro and it somehow can control people and they can try to help fight godzilla, maybe with a mecha again. I think godzilla fighting a cthulu like monster is a no brainer I just not sure what to do with that idea. Maybe find a way to take some ideas from scp. I love scp 3000 aka Anantashesha which can make anyone forget major events.
Personally, I think Kong and Ctulhu Would Have Some Issues With One Another whereas Godzilla And The Great Old Ones Would Stick To That Truce they made Way back when with th' Elder Things; Heck Godzillas Origins could derive from said “Schengen Treaty”! That’s at least how I Look at it. A World (or Worlds) Full Of Antiheroes and Antivillains
Godzilla has pretty much beaten the strongest monsters on earth , he became the king of the monsters, I was always thinking that since they plan to keep the monsterverse going then what kind of threat could give Godzilla a hard time anymore, The only two ideas I had in mind is either an alien monster like Gaidorah or another man-made monster like Mech-G the only thing other then that is a monster that arrived from an alternative diminsion
Personally, I just really don't care to see Cthulhu fight godzilla. I'd rather see a toho monster revamped like the monsterverse has done or new inventive monsters.
I personally am against the idea of Cthulhu being in the Monsterverse. I feel he is too powerful of a being to be a reasonable opponent for Godzilla. But, that's just my opinion. If any of you guys disagree with me, feel free to share your opinion. Side note: I would still be hyped if he battled Godzilla.
Like I said MV Cthulhu is a horrible idea, he won’t live up to many expect him to be, an extradimensional alien, their gonna change his origin completely. I’ll say this many times, SP is a better option
In simple terms Cthulhu would win. From Lovecraft's writing and characters POV, his powers are beyond comprehension. But if it were something plot related I would be be willing to entertain the idea of Godzilla winning. For example, if it were explained that Godzilla was kind of the "anti-elder god" and guardian of Earth, protecting the planet from cosmic entities since the birth of the Permian era. That he exists as a natural entity but operates on a different plane of understanding than we can truly comprehend. As if Godzilla's existence was orchestrated by a higher power to protect life on Earth from things we could never stand against. Explain that Godzilla was the reason Rylea sunk into the sea and Cthulhu was defeated and sent into hibernation. He is powerful enough that his mind can withstand Cthulhu's mind bending psychic abilities (with extreme effort and much pain of course) and Godzilla's energy has been shown to be the same radiation that is found at rh Earth's core, basically he feeds off the power of creation itself and is strengthened and motivated by something bigger and more involved than even himself and even he may not understand it (this going by the reasoning stated in the video that these are not just monsters, they are characters with motivations and personalities). Their battle was climactic enough to inspire myths and legends and Godzilla stood triumphant and sent a less than seasoned Cthulhu into a state of near death suspended animation. Cthulhu now slumbers and gains strength and followers, waiting for the day he may rise back up and have the rematch of the universe; to attempt to take back the crown from Godzilla and sit upon his thrown over the Earth. Something like that I feel may be acceptable as a way of making Cthulhu fit into the Monsterverse. Thoughts?
@@anomalotheriataurus8806 Yeah I agree, and it's also canon that his father (or at least a close relative, the skeleton discovered in the first Monsterverse Godzilla movie) was called Dagon, another Lovecraft and Scripture reference.
@@anomalotheriataurus8806 See, a few tweaks only leaves it as a frail comparison of Cthulhu. Now, I wouldn't be apposed to creating a monster that looked like Cthulhu and just have Monarch call it Titanus Cthulhu, I'd be fine saying he was from space too. But Cthulhu, as in the great old one himself, he truly doesn't fit considering he could snap his fingers and the entire Monsterverse would be destroyed.
@@denistyrant If any type I think the closest Match would be Godzilla Earth, as that one already dealt with the first Lovecraftian type Monster with that version of Ghidorah.

Which is why I support Godzilla Ultima vs Cthulhu more, both are reality bending, mysterious, incomprehensible beings
Personally, I don't want Cthulhu in the MonsterVerse. We DO NOT want the Cthulhu/Lovecraft purists complain at us if Godzilla kills Cthulhu, and shouldn't Cthulhu be superior to everyone and everything on Earth (which makes him more terrifying and eldritch)? But at least they can show that in the MonsterVerse, Lovecraft was inspired by the Titans to create his novels. And they can include the Cthulhu Mythos in the IDW comics, since Godzilla in that comic series had defeated Satan and the Greek gods.
Yeah I own an episode of the Ghostbusters cartoon where they dealt with Cthulhu n yes it was difficult to beat him but it can b done so y not put Cthulhu into the Monsterverse
Cthulhu probably is considered a Kaiju for all intents and purposes but if you’re gonna put him in there then you REALLY have to downgrade him otherwise he’d be way too powerful. Personally I’d love to see Nyarlathotep as a Kaiju of some kind, you can get a bit more leeway with him since he directly affects human beings on his own time as you’d probably call it.
Any truth to the theory that Godzilla basically was a Chthuthu rip-off from the beginning? Ok, Godzilla's creator only cites King Kong and The Beast From 2000 Fathoms, not Lovecraft, but the parallels and precedents, it's just Chthulu minus the lore and reduced to the quintessential giant monster metaphor that is angered and awakened comes out of the sea and brings judgement day upon humanity for whatever sins here comes holy hellfire just like promised in the Bible. Godzilla is just Chthulu.
Cthulhu could be interesting in a more horror focused Kaiju movie, considering his mere presence causes insanity, on a city wide scale it would be similar to Godzilla's radioactivity in the original movie.

Since Cthulhu is in the public domain, I think it wouldn't be too hard to get him in the monsterverse.
Agreed
Some of REH's Chtulhu-type stories were non-Conan stories, like Usurp the Night.
Hmmm not bad, personally I think Ctulhu Could Also work as an Antivillain (maybe even Antihero?)
I could see Orga being reworked into a Cthulhu-type character in the monsterverse
What I took the most from this is a potential Conan meets Godzilla story needs to happen.
Oh yeah conan the barbarian exists is the same universe and the lovecraft myths I'd like to see him would fight against godzilla
Hey Omni! I would really like to see Godzilla vs Cthulhu in the MonsterVerse! It would be amazing!
"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming"
I'm surprised you didn't mention Bird Box whose creatures were heavily influenced by the works of Lovercraft and Underwater whose director confirmed the giant monster is called Cthulhu meaning the swarm of smaller creatures might be the Deep Ones
That artwork around 11:50 is AMAZING! I want it as a poster!
I feel like if not horror twist it be like gamera but they relise cuthulu is causing him to rampage and human characters to act like rage filled zombies this is how you could make well round characters in a giant monster movie.
Sum: make cuthulu affect plots of humans and monster but in a way it blends well
Example of Explaination:
Micheal channlers character hears a awful sound he tries to cover his ears realising does not help.
I didn't know conan the barbarian was apart of the Cthulu mythos. I think that's cool.
There is a strong connection between REH and HPL work
7:44 - in the original story, "The Call of Cthulhu," Cthulhu was temporarily defeated by being rammed by a ship so it may be possible that it could be permanently destroyed.
I just want to see Legendary throw more new monsters and old classics into the mix before they go tacking the Lovecraftian pantheon to the roster.
wasn't Cthulhu defeated by a tugboat once?
@@gitss7367 No he wasn’t
@@gitss7367 His head was split open but he started to regenerate it.
I wrote a few outlines including Lovecraftian lore with the monsterverse in potential pitch ideas for future monsterverse films. I do believe they can be included, but I don't think it will be included.
I like to see godzilla faced the other lovecraft gods from the Cthulhu myth.
Would Paul Bunyan count as a kaiju?
yeah he should be in there but not just as kaiju but as a monster god that do many things and can be killed but will come back again and again as he can never really die
There's a fan fiction "Godzilla vs Cthulhu" short story floating around, at least I suppose it still is, the internet and/or Usenet. I can't find it now but I still have my hard copy laying around somewhere.
What kind of the world do we live in where Kristen Stewart fights Cthulhu but Godzilla doesn't?
A sick twisted one. That's what
You know it's a bad idea pop in my head right now what if the titans from the monsterverse or's face off the great old ones themselves.
If there is a movie or comic book made about Lovecraft’s work then the crawling chaos should be The main villain
Ultraman Tiga arrives on DVD next month. The final boss kaiju Tiga must overcome? Ghatanothoa, the son of Cthulhu from the Xothic legend cycle.
Exactly, Imagine A Monsterverse Ultraman Or Zone Fighter!
You'd have to nerf the living crap out of him to even have it be possible for Godzilla to fight him.
So, maybe not Cthulhu himself, but a monster that may have inspired him?
Well, we kind of already have that with Titanus Scylla so there’s nothing stopping them from working with said idea
Again, You Can’t satisfy everybody, so I’d say just go for it and let history be the judge, a “Devil May Care”-Attitude ya know
I've actually toyed with the idea of a Godzilla-Cthulhu crossover, although I admit that most of it has not been towards the Monsterverse, I usually envisioned it as its own standalone thing.
I’d rather see a monster that in inspired by cathulu and other Lovecraft monsters than cathulu
After how comedic KOTM and GvsK were I cannot picture the MonsterVerse having actual Lovecraftian vibes unless they start separating character tones like how Godzilla 2014 and Kong Skull Island feel.
They wouldn’t need to go for full on cosmic/Lovecraftian *horror* with it.
I’m afraid you can’t please everybody
That first question literally proves why Cthulhu would be a good big bad. A big bad makes you questions if the protags can beat them
I like the idea of a chthuhu like creature more than a literal chthuhlu being on the godzilla monsterverse and possibly any live action film as a whole for a number of different reasons.
1. I would rather the mainstream audience get a proper movie expirience of what a lore accurate cthuhlu is like so that the hype is there more and they don’t get the impression that The monsterverse version is “the main one.”
Actually, “Satan” was just another Cover Title For Bagan in the Heisei Series, whom I personally want to finally turn up in a movie
Which is why I prefer Godzilla Ultima vs Cthulhu, both are higher dimensional alien godly beings, that are here to wreck havoc on Earth.
True, Ctulhu Might Work Better as Gamera Villain, if you go with the Heisei Version Of Course
An comic is gonna have the two fight so it will be fun here
I wouldn't mind seeing Cthullu in the monsterverse. Like i said, anything is possible if the execution is done right.
Just The Answer I was looking for
I don’t know why some fans are so obsessed on limiting the possibilities to go on in the Monsterverse.
Plus ultraman is a bit much for the monsterverse gorosaurus honestly fits better also both characters are literally classic characters be befin with
@@Kaiju-bm4ts well at the end of the day it’s all up to the money, practically newer Titans is what racks the dough up for the audience.
On these lines, Cthulu might actually _fit._
But keeping that in mind...he's not the _same kind of God_ that Godzilla and the others are depicted as.
Are you gonna review the comics: *Godzilla Dominion* and *Kingdom Kong?*
A Giant Sentient Alien…does that describe Cthulhu, Ghidorah, Space Godzilla, Gigan or Orga?
It All Comes Down To the Execution
One can understand that if this happened that the "Lovecraft fans" would not be happy about it, because "it's not true to the original work, you are ruining the character!" To which I say: "There is a Cthulhu dating simulator... this idea would be a step up from that."
I also see people arguing that Cthulhu would have to be nerfed to fight Godzilla... which just sounds absurd to me.
I concur! Though maybe Godzilla and Ctulhu could fight to Tie and then build up a truce... or you could have it like in “Ghidorah, The Threeheaded Monster”, where the two go at each other at first but then either Nodens (Another Lovecraftian Entity) or Mothra would try convincing them to quit their quarrels in order to fight someone or something worse than both of them
@@anomalotheriataurus8806 Already unlikely, Cthulhu and Godzilla would probably stay as enemies, I doubt some convincing would change their mind

Late comment, but I don't think Cthulhu belongs in the Monsterverse. I wouldn't want Cthulhu to overshadow Ghidorah, Destoroyah, Mechagodzilla and Biollante.
Hey Omni Viewer can do a review of disney xd of mech x4
What about Godzilla vs the blob or gamera
Yet Cthullu can't be defeated
@@PedroAugustoJS You can hypothetically defeat him if your a powerful god like Nodens.

A monsterverse adapted Cthulhu would just be a king ghidorah for the mothra movies (with minilla sacrificing himself with mothra becoming coldthra)
Well given How OP Godzilla was in KOTM, I think a battle could still be arranged, though I’m getting Spacegodzilla vibes from the old Cthulster tbh
Thoughts?
I mean technically if the film were going to happen, Godzilla’s win would be good imo, but also predictable too.
Pretty Good, Personally Though I think Godzilla already is an Elder Thing so badassery ahead!

Mothra is depicted as a godess like creature in KOTM, therefore any arguement for Cthulhu not being in the monsterverse is irrelevant.
