  • This bike is amazing. What can I say? I have owned this Honda model for over a year and it has never upset me or let me down once. I have pushed it to the limits by taking it cross country, and I have asked it to start and ride me in the harshest of conditions known to the northeast united states. There is a reason Honda has this bike as their flagship model.. its the kind of touring bikes. Once again I apologize to the owners of the 2018/19+ models, its just not the same. I have ridden the new model and would never ever take that over the Second generation GL1800

    I have the exact same bike. 2012 and blue. I put a heel-toe shifter on it and a backrest. I have a heel-toe shifter on my Vulcan 2000 and couldn’t handle not having one. The gear box on the Goldwing was too tight. I rented a 2018 Goldwing to see the difference and did 225 miles through the Georgia mountains on it and I had a blue toe from upshifting so much. I like the second generation better. I have a Russel Day Long seat on my Vulcan and will order mine for the Goldwing this week. I keep the rear suspension at 21 so it lifts me up a little. My new seat will take care of that. Great bike.

    you, Chris Caliente, Memphis Mike, and Cruiseman's garage are the reasons I will probably own an F6b next year! Thanks for the vids!

    Great video … I’m the original owner of a 2012 wing .. just an amazing bike .. to date nothing more then tires & oil changes .. ok there is that annoying TPMS thing .. but whatever 😉😉.. and I totally agree about the new goldwings ..the 18 & 19 models were horrible .. 22 looks like they have the bugs worked out .. however it’s still not for me .. they took so much of the comfort / touring away .. it’s to sporty now .. if and when my 2012’s time has come .. I’ll honestly shop for a low mileage 2017 … that’s just how amazing these bikes are !!

    Man, I'm with you. Not able to upgrade just yet but plan to within a year. Actually I play to keep my RSTD and get a wing also. Test drove an 07 a few weeks ago that was it for me. My next bike is decided. Yours is sharp! Love that blue! Keep the videos coming and be safe out there.

      I want you to know that I originally traded my 2012 Road Star Silverado S for the first Indian RoadMaster and I still regret it to this day. I am very happy with my Wing however and would not trade it for any other touring class motorcycle in the world.

      @@grindsoul I can imagine. My RSTD is sharp and runs well. I'm on it every chance I get so hope to keep it and ride it when I want something different. I want to do longer trips with my lady and know there aren't many better at that then the Wing.

    I want the same color and year. I love the two tone. I am also considering the blacked out version. Got a completely chromed out Harley so why not go for the exact opposite. Beautiful ride! Would like to see you do more videos. Really enjoy them! I test rode a 2003 yesterday but I think I'm waiting for the right 2012 -2017. Like the body style better. I'm glad you made a comment about the new Wing. I agree.

    Oh believe me things do go wrong on this bike. I'm on my 5th Goldwing. I had Gl1500 Goldwings and I'm on my second gl1800 Goldwing. I've never owned anything else

      very cool. I know they do and I did have many issues over the years. I eventually switched up once my wife started riding and I didn't need a huge touring bike anymore. Ride safe Jamie.

      When the Gold Wing came out in 2001 as an all-new "1800," it was optionally equipped with industry-leading Dual-Combined ABS, integrating Honda's top-of-the-line Dual-Combined Brake System with a new Antilock Brake System. Mine was the 2012 Honda Gold Wing GL1800 Audio Comfort Navigation XM ABS model. Gen 2 Level III... Level IV would've included the airbag. Thanks for the comments and ride safe

    Hi, you might enjoy Mark Haycock's book about the new Honda CB750 of the 1970s, he had ridden all the big U.S. and English bikes of the time, and his comments about the design, quality and performance of the Hondas really echoes what you've been saying in these videos.
    The English and the Americans have had over 40 years to try to catch up to the Japanese bikes, and so far it looks like loud pipes and retro paint schemes that rust out is all they have...

    Did he mention in a video if his wife ever accept the Goldwing? If so which video. Thank s ride safely.

    • @grindsoul
      @grindsoul  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      She did accept it eventually. It took her some time riding on it to appreciate the fact that the bike was built for the passengers comfort (high back rest etc). The seat she said was the only thing that could have been more comfortable on the long rides.

      Hes actually one of the main reasons I own a GL1800. If you watch my video on why I traded in my Indian, it explains I got a lot of my inspiration from him.

    With your height do you find your legs cramp up without being able to stretch out in front of you on some highway pegs?

    • @grindsoul
      @grindsoul  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was totally comfortable during long long rides with no issues. I actually purchased the Rivco highway pegs in preparation for a 10 hour trip and used them maybe twice the entire time, and then never again. I find the mid controls VERY comfortable.

    how the gas mileage

    • @grindsoul
      @grindsoul  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      great on the highway. I used to get around 250-260 miles on a full tank. In the city more like 110-120. That 6 Cylinder engine drinks up gasoline during low speed traffic.
