    Do you recommend the CCD from CyberDefenders, or should I go for Blue Team Level 1 (BTL1) instead since CCD seems more expensive?

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Great question, I say if you’re in the position to purchase CCD, I would recommend it but if budgets are tight, go for CDSA Soc path and then TryHackMe or LetsDefend subscription 👍

    I feel so stupid going to Cyber now labs. I finished in July but I'll turn it around I have access to Splunk ES, Crowdstrike & Sentinelone not Microsoft Sentinelone.
    Qradar but I'll focus on Splunk ih Thehive & jira very basic stuff. Proofpoint I learned and gotta go back to watch the Wireshark lessons.
    My Crowdstrike & Splunk instructor were garbage waste of time and money. The expert instructor quit 1-3 months before I got taken her class.
    But I'll watch her last recordings the school offered as Supplement.
    Overall point is it's not too late this channel will be an extra guide.

      I’ve created a similar video for Resumes however for these specific experiences and skills, I would list what you have learned and are comfortable talking to and using. For example, a lot of hands on training likes to use tools such as Splunk. Once you have enough experience with Splunk, you can put that under your skills section.

    The best projects video. Most influencer fill their videos with fluff, you got straight into it. Granted you mostly talked about blue team and SOC analyst (which is my dream job) but you got straight to the point and gave actual free sites.

    you're doing such a great work sir. i've been learning the basic stuff i need to know, did some basic courses on Cisco & then on fortinet. currently doing the google cybersecurity course. most of the certificate exams focus more on the theoretical aspects of infosec/cloud sec, so I've been worrying if I'll have enough experience before going into my postgraduate degree & eventually getting an internship. will check out all these 4 resources overtime. thanks a lot!

    • @AmanKhan-69
      @AmanKhan-69 ปีที่แล้ว

      what's funny is when i started on this path after deciding to switch careers, soc analyst was my dream job. not pen tester or ethical hacker like most people. i'm now also getting interested in forensics, but working with siem tools in a soc role starting out would be great

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great job on learning the basics, definitely something you don’t want to skip out on.
      Complimenting your theory knowledge with hands on experience will help you become a better analyst and these resources are perfect for that. Once you try them out let me know how that goes!

    Hi MyDFIR, I just signed up via your website. Been working as a SOC analyst for about a year now, still have lots to learn and am happy where I am at the moment. I understand I need to do my due-diligence as I'm taking a more progressive approach to my sec career rather than trying to skip steps. One thing thats been on my mind is how do you know when to start specializing. How did you figure this one out?

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey! That is a great question. As cliche as it sounds, you start specializing when you find exactly what you enjoy the most.
      For me, it was year 2 into my career as a SOC analyst. I knew I enjoyed investigating INCIDENTS and that was it. I searched what are some of the specializations that focused on INCIDENTS and landed on DFIR.

    Thanks for this information! I found it very informative. About how long do you think it will take to learn what's needed to make the jump into cybersecurity (SOC analyst role)? I've started a blog in the past in an unrelated field and was not successful. I will check out your video on how to start a blog. Again, thank you!

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Realistically? About 2 years. You can learn whats needed within a year depending on how dedicated you are BUT likely there will be a lot of “memorization” thus, it would take some more time to put theory into practice hence why I say about 2 years.

    hello i am currently doing Blue Team level 1 for hands on experience i just finished my security+ after im done with BTL 1 do you think I should have enough experience to start applying to job? and on my resume do i create a project section and add and explain what I learned and did in the Certification?

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can try however I would also continue to put yourself in front of different scenarios as much as possible by doing more hands on labs to gain the confidence to speak about them. For projects you want to format it as you would for work experience.

    Should I post a google drive link to my labs/projects on my resume?

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question, I would not. I would instead put those onto another site to make it look more “professional” and then in the heading put in the website. You can use something like medium or even LinkedIn. - but that is just me. Whenever I see someone link google drive I always associate it with malware haha

    • @MyDFIR
      @MyDFIR  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are new to cybersecurity, my advice instead of a book, I would opt for a free training course to learn and once you find your domain of interest, that is where you can purchase a book specific for that domain.

      Awesome! Great job on enrolling yourself into the google program. How do you like it? Providing value?

      @@MyDFIR I am quite enjoying it and it is providing a ton of value. Initally i did know how to go about Cybersecurity but am glad such programs exist. I didn't see myself coding all day every day.
      I'll keep in contact if I have any burning questions of clarification.
