Excellent way to introduce any subject with graphical pattern.. 👍👍 This s the key of electronic. Thanks 🙏
Very well done. I appreciate the animations, esp. showing when the mosfet acts like a switch or an open.

Switching a high side mosfet is bit tricky. For example, using a simple transistor based gate driver for N type mosfet connected on positive rail of buck conveter would cause a shoot through fault. Gate drivers ic becomes really handy for such cases
You do not always need one if you don't do high speed switching, change gpio setting to high drive strength and get a low Vgs mosfet that is 100% on at 1Volt like the RU1J002YNTCL
Many makers use their MOSFET gate drivers not with their full performance. So they are often surpriced by considerably higher switching losses than expected. Most of the gate drivers devices can provide gate currents of 1 A, 4 A or even more. But they can't provide them if the circuit design has no buffer capacitors immediately at power supply pins of the gate driver IC and also if the MOSFET is considerably separated from the gate driver's output pin. The high current must be supplied within nanoseconds. This is impossible if there are considerable line inductances.
Hi can u help me ?
There is a defect in my system’s pcb and I doubt gate driver IC
Awesome video, really good explainations, and no tomfoolery, straight to the point, yet no information is missing ^_^

The youtube algorithm put this in my feed. I thought it was very well done. I did subscribe as many other videos on the channel look just as interesting. If I had to make one suggestion, don’t contaminate a great instructional video with political figures (of any persuasion) even if used for comic relief. Some of us (I’m in the U.S.) watch videos like this to learn and to get away from the news of the day. Just my 2 cents for what it’s worth. Great work.
thank you for your suggestion
Many think they always need to use a high driver in a low speed application. They can get into a pack of trouble when these fast switching currents introduce noise. I sometimes purposely slow down switching speeds to prevent these problems. I prefer to use drivers with low supply voltage protection to avoid FET overheating due to low drive voltage.
Well crafted,appreciate ur efforts
If no high frequency load switching requierd (eg. pwm motor speed control, inverter etc.) I use 74HCT595's for driving mosfets. Their outputs are also grounded by 10k resistors, to turn off outputs when the registers are in high impedance mode. I run these shift registers from 5V, and I use an optocoupler for level shifting and for protecting the micro (which runs from a separate 3.3V power rail) against transients. I've built dozens of these output cards, and all of them are running smoothly. I also use a trick, an extra optocoupler, which is fed through a capacitor, and connected to a GPIO which state is inverted innevery loop cycle. Every H-L transition is discharging a capacitor by the emitter of the optocoupler, so if the program freezes on the micro, all outputs will be turned off immediately.
pretty slick...Im going to start doing that as well.

Which good gate driver ICS are available in local shops in India? Need it for 100khz ish switching. I practically took a list of different ICS to the shop, and the only thing that was available out of that was mcp34151, which i did buy. But was rather expensive. Was wondering if there are cheaper ones available
IRS2110 is the basic driver IC you can find
IF i am using TC4420 gate driver ic we didnot gate output voltage of 14 volt
For n-channel MOSFET gate driver, you have considered 12V as supply voltage. So Vgs is 16V.
If supply voltage will be 30V then Vgs should be 34V??
as a highside switch yes.
Really thanks sir 🙏

Just use a MAX232... it accepts a logic input and can drive a MOSFET or IGBT with ease. the MAX232 was designed to drive RS232 signals though inductive and capacitive loads and provides both a positive and negative output which s ideal for driving gates and it generates its own step up voltage
and it is FAR cheaper too
nice explanation

Hello .. sir i made SG3525 or ir2110 smps circuit but ir2110 but HO side shows 12v ..but mosfet gate handle maximum 10volts .. can you guide me why HO side show 12v rather than 5volt
Bhai yyr mere system m 2 MOSFETs h aur wo replace karne pe khrab ho rhe h
IR2113 IC is used as a gate driver
Thoda help kar doge kya ki kya root cause ho sakta h problem ka
Because mere ko Itna knowledge nhi h
M pcb photo wgera share kar dunga contact number deke aap yes bolo to
Can anyone help me ???
MOSFETs are getting defective again and again in my system’s pcb. IR2113 IC is there to drive the MOSFETs.
I will share pcb photo and all details if anyone have good knowledge and ready to help me
Someone reply please because system is very critical and it’s a must for us to sort out that MOSFETs problem

will there be a video about llc resonator?
Will work on it
@@FoolishEngineer Thanks
If the key goal of the driver is to quickly turn on and of the mosfet. Why is there a gate resistor limiting the current? Can anyone please explain?
It's usually a bodge to mitigate the ringing problem alluded to in the video. Ideally a gate resistor isn't required. There are other ways to deal with it.
Thanks, could you maybe expand on what other ways are possible?
@@suncrafterspielt9479 You can clamp the gate signal with a zener, possibly combined with a tank circuit to eat excess current from the top of the wave you've chopped off. If you can keep the inductance low enough you might not need to do anything at all. Really depends on the application and layout and you'll need to run tests and simulations to determine what compensation is needed if any. This video mainly pertains to digital switching of power mosfets which can have quite large CGS > 1 nf.
May i know which software using for this circuits
please answer him :D

If you're asking about simulations, then it is LTSpice
