As a high school teacher (and a millennial), I’d like the record corrected to reflect that Gen. Z could not survive without social media. Their entire identities are determined, and validated, by likes, followers, views, and engagement. It is shocking, intriguing, and disheartening to listen to them talk about their cell phones and social media.

I joined facebook years ago to join the only support group for our medically ill childs condition. Stayed for 2 years. Made friends and quit. The demand that i keep up with others wall or wish them well on minor things superficially was not for me. I want real friends who care about me as much as i care for them. I do not need vain show offs with hurt feelings that i missed some post they made

I think it’s a bad excuse to say “well how will I stay in touch with everyone?” - To that I say we all did it before FB and we can do it now. I fibbed and said I was an hour and a half away at this place known for the sunflower fields. They oooh'ed and aaah'ed before I text back and told them I was at Lowe's and that was a pic of the sunflowers in the garden center and that's how easy it is to fake your life on social media😂😂
