Will you be creating your own timeline, including short seasons? Damn... Now we need to film all this. So much material from each game. If it comes down to something like this)
These characters have been developing for so long now, and I just started about a year ago with Hilma Baron. You have done such an amazing job using a game like CDDA to develop some amazing stories and characters, on the edge of my seat with each near death escape.
with a 3rd season of Dusk and with so many great characters done over the years for CDDA, i wonder what a "Rycon Cataclysm Universe" would look like? with Dusk, Hilma and our man Bran in one big multiverse mashup.
Happy to see Dusk and Elliot back! I think Elliot's arm was broken from fighting with the glass shards. There was a message that scrolled by when Dusk was using one said it was cutting your hand.
We need the surprise return of "the one that got away" that girl that totally blitzed across a lake to escape Elliot, she is clearly not ordinary. :D I forgot their name though...
it's your focus and level in the spell that decides how difficult a mom spell is to cast, as far as I can tell, pain doesn't effect that. As for the blob that appeared, one of the scientists must have gone into the slime pool and got converted to a blob, kinda nice to know that's still a mechanic.
I can't believe they're back! Also love that the woods can't catch a break, poor twins keeps going to different realities and games. Let's just hope Elliot's curse of dying in dumb ways didn't carry over xD
Yay! Another Dusk season! Dusk S1 was the first playthough I saw on the channel, and I was immediately hooked on the stories that developed on here. Excited to get into this season (and episode)!
Great art for twins, and interesting conditions for playthrough. However, maybe further down the line, It’s interesting to have two characters instead of having them as companion, swap from episode to episode allowing both time to shine. Right now it's beyond risky with broken bone and hunger setting in, but when they out of laboratory, it could be very entertaining. Like while one is producing something from their field of skills, other is scavenging. Though NPC are not very reliable crafters.
Elliot's killer drive makes him fight so reckless he already broke his arm btw: What a great idea to switch control of the two from time to time! Im really stoked to see them working together! PS: "No Hope" disables the need of pulping most zombies (some still need pulping tho)!
I'm very happy to see Dusk is back :D I have no idea how you'll handle 2 characters with unstable genetics but it'll be interesting to watch. Just a FYI, Eliot did not get hit on the arm, he just destroyed it by repeatedly attacking something with a glass shard, which has a chance to damage your arm. (See 30:38 against the slime). Keep up the good work! I hope Dusk survives for a long time!
I remember discovering you though your Dusk series when the big coof first happened, honestly I think it was the only thing that kept me sane. Looking forward to see where this story goes.
@ryconplays My man I can not put into words how pleased I am about this. Elliot has long been my favorite character and to see him return is always a pleasure not to mention he's reunited with his sister at last. Makes me so happy I can't wait for more keep up the good work 🎉🎉.
I think Elliot broke his own hand taking damage from wielding the glass shards constantly to attack new enemies, the constant mild tick of damage from wielding them amounted over time and eventually did enough damage to render the limb non-functional.
At least I think so I noticed that dusk herself was taking damage to her hands from wielding the glass shards. And the only part on Elliot that was really damaged was his arm.
I'm pretty sure Elliot cut his own arm off using glass shards as a melee weapon. Even wearing tactical gloves on my own character just haphazardly slices their arm when i try to use 'unsafe' cutting weapons like saw blades. Isnt the point of gloves with 20+ cut armor to protect me from sharp things cutting my hands??? Nah you just cant use unsafe weapons like that. EVER. It's literally as if he sawed his own arm off with the glass shards and tried handing it to the zombie LMAO.
I also like the boost of difficulties that you've added into the series despite not seeing them. Hopefully will keep the challenge of the game continuing on, I find that once you get powerful in cataclysm you snowball in progress really quickly.
@@ryconplays At least you chose psyonics instead of magic....magiclysm and No Hope don't mix well. Only 1 type of magic dwelling spawns. None of the towers or libraries.
I stopped at 5:31 in the video to simply say that the possibility of old friends being potentially alive (maybe even in this building) legitimately choked me up of for minute.
I missed the upload of this yesterday! But I am extremely excited after seeing what you are doing so far after the first few minutes. When I play Catacylsm I actually do RP myself as a Singular character that constantly regens into new places and lives basically following the same lore that you mentioned at the start of the episode from the Boneseer. So I am extremely excited to see someone with talent at story telling doing a similar concept so I can watch and learn from. Keep on, Rycon! I am gonna be eagering watching this and the Aftershock series. Let's hope for another year or more of both series!
I'm really enjoying the base concept for the next instalment in the dusk series, the siblings reunited and working together in unison I think has the potential to generate good stories
Finally had a chance to watch this - so excited to see these beloved characters back. Super start in what sounds like is going to be a very challenging run. 😮
Glad to see Dusk back! This will be very difficult, but you know better than anyone how hard it is to keep npcs alive. Let's learn from past mistakes and be extra careful
I'm almost done watching the first dusk season and now I have to watch a few hundred videos just to watch this lol. Very excited though bit unfortunate I might not watch these on release
Very rough start, especially because Elliot break his arm, which need, I think, a week or so to heal up. Another thing with NPC - I am not sure if they can interact, seat in vehiciles when you drive, which can be huge problem in the future But still, very excited for this playthrough!
My boy lives, I love this so much, Eliot is a mad man, but I love him so, so much. I began my journey watching you play CDDA as Eliot, I was so hesitant to watch at first, but became so fascinated by this game. My what a journey we have undergone since then, hundreds of episodes, Eliot, Dusk, Bran, and so many more. I'm so happy, I could almost cry, I have missed these two so very much. :'D
So I figured out why the zombies don't try to revive. that feature has been disabled with no hope. no idea why it doesn't seem to affect all of them in some of the later episodes, but it does get most of them.
@@ryconplays Absolutely adored the episode! It's amazing getting to see the return of the siblings, and even better to see Dusk's story continue to unfold! I'm excited to see where things go~
Back to the Megacity, eh? Maybe it's the world after Bran had fallen. Or maybe one where he suffered some other strange fate. Magiclysm and MoM are really good combos with No Hope. Guns and bullets are nearly impossible to find and make, but magic spells aren't. Even a single magic spell can be honed into a more devastating weapon than any rocket launcher. Provided you live long enough to train it to that point, that is. Can't wait to see you use all that innawoods-type knowledge in a megacity!
No Hope removes zombie pulping as a heads up (And also lowers loot spawns itself considerably good luck!), anyways great episode! (Edit: Any organic monster that steps in a goo trap turns into a goo, that's where the 2nd zombie scientist went, also they're blind so they follow noise first and foremost like that cyborg yelling down south)
Wait does that mean they'll revive no matter what or that they won't, the first is terrifying. You'd have to burn all the corpses to destroy them completely, kinda dig that
They won't revive at all, they're too decayed perhaps? Even necromancers cant resurrect them. (It was a mod choice by the author, Not sure why exactly though, humans/feral's will still need to be pulped if Elliot gets hungry though XD) @@ryconplays (Edit: Also be careful with No Hope, its one of my favorite mods by far, but it adds more than its fair share of unpleasant incredibly lethal suprises)
When I saw that the bodies are already pulped upon death I had the moment of realization: It's a No Hope run. Uh oh, there's gonna be some fun situations going on, good luck! Really enjoying Dusk's perspectives!
Wow, it happened. Twins. How long ago was there a mention in the transfer of Hilma to ARK. And it happened. I'm looking forward to more stories. And I like the idea that you don’t have one main character and nps, but switch between them according to the situation and use the strengths of each while covering the weaknesses. This is already some kind of The Lost Vikings or Animaniacs on Sega. Not a standard game experience, and just as difficult (Additional micromanagement and harmful AI) But this inspired me to try this myself (And most likely it was Animaniacs, I liked this cartoon at one time) And at the same time follow your story. It’s funny to imagine situations with the sharing of equipment and, say, implants. If you consider the situation that all the characters are your main characters and not just one main character and a bunch of minions. This is all similar to DnD... Wait a minute... Essentially what Rycon does. Our Dnd master. He tells us stories, and observers (This is us, right?) listen and watch what will happen this time. In what dimension... This or that character will find himself under a combination of unusual circumstances.
Coming back to this series after awhile came in with bran's tale and dropped off around the start of innawood. Its mainly nostogilia but i liked the old tileset better. Thanks for the recap
if you find a dust mask you can disassemble it for string which can be used with the spike you craft to make a makeshift knife. if you have a cutting tool and enough skill you should be able to make a arm splint for dusk's brother.
The goo pits are fun, I remember a long time ago I was doing a lab escape. I opened a door found a one of the eldrich horrors had escaped its containment. Watching this huge mass of tentacles charge towards me I was about to bend over and kiss my ass goodbye but then it steped into the goo pit and out came a cute little goo. I laughed my ass off.
Hey, Rycon! It occurs to me that Z-Land might work well when converted into a homebrew CDDA. Maybe it's already a thing, but the idea popped into my head. Some of the best storytelling in the game is from the little survivor stories from the NPCs, and I think that would lend itself well to that kind of pen-and-paper RPG.
Awesome video can't wait to see how this series goes not sure about dinosaurs in a mega city world as I don't imagine you'd get non-zombie dinosaurs in cities but then I don't know anything about the mod other than it having dino labs
Dusk and her brother??? I never imagined I would see it. I love the idea of this... P.S. Can you control her brother? and if so How? Also... didnt her brother brake His arm as the first maiger ingery?
Oh, ok, I understand why you have not used it much then, tho would be kind of cool if Dusk gets close to death, if you switched to her brother, to keep the story going, or if her brother dies, take one of his bones, like she is carring him with her, or wants to bring him back. Tho I hope nither are going to die.@@ryconplays
You can also do this without the debug menu now! It's via the faction succession mechanic, every 60 days or so, or if you have a broken bone you can swap to an allied Npc. Granted, debug makes way more sense for this specific use case.
In a previous incarnation Elliott went by the name Elle and was a member of the Delta Nu sorority, maintained a 4.0 GPA in Fashion Merchandising, had a small dog named Bruiser, and attended Harvard University's Law School.
So, just to explain what happened there with the slime and the missing scientist, The slime pit has a chance to turn any living thing that steps into it into a slime. I don't think they can spawn slimes without someone stepping into them. The scientist went missing, but a slime appeared. I'm betting that's what happened.
Rycon, I will be honest. The one thing that pulls me out of the immersion is the texture pack you're using, I prefer season 2's texture pac a lot more due to it allowed us a more close up on the character, allowing us to see their eyes and face better. It just felt more personal to me.
Hey! Creator of Mind Over Matter here--I'm very behind on the Rycon Cataclysmic Universe (finished Hilma's tale and halfway through Luna's tale and that's it), but this got linked somewhere else and I noticed you're using MoM. I poked through a couple videos and saw the fight with the feral mender and Dusk smashing some zombies to paste on the walls. I hope you're having fun with it!
Hey I'm absolutely loving it. The lore is great and the abilities are really nicely balanced especially with how dangerous I've made the world this time round. Really appreciate the work that you've put in and I can't wait to discover more
I'll be doing a recap next week of all the CDDA series so far. It's a long stretch from the start but many here would say it's worth it. I'd say there's no wrong answer
just wondering how Rycon got those mutations on the gal fangs and fey eyes and long fingernails , was it dev commanded in or can you set this up on character creation
Can we eventually get a recap video on each season of dusk cause i remember how hard it was to get through all those episodes and i always forget where i left off at its probably would be to hard with the episode count but there is no harm in asking
Lol this gave me an idea, that Dusk travelled through time, via natural lives, coming to the far future where she learnt the technology to harness and control portals to travel through time, and went back to create herself (and her brother), to repeat it. A bootstrap paradox story
Wooh! A new playthrough! Quick question for the ignorant: Why is it when you greet us with "Kia Ora" it sounds similar to Ki Oder? I'm not trying to make fun of an accent or anything, just trying to understand if that is the correct pronunciation, or if i'm mis-hearing a glottal stop or something.
I'm sure this was just storytelling, but @ 48:00 you mention ash could be from wood or bodies, but bodies and meat actually burn into corpse ash so you can know which is which.
A full recap of the Rycon Cataclysm Universe will be coming next week once I get a chance to sit down and recall it all 😊

When I was still trying to find time for the fire mage Luna. Q(._.Q)
I find it hilarious that Elliot's proficient at driving but still managed to die crashing a car in an empty field.
Yup haha, he did fall unconscious though
Who knows, he also couldve had a hallucination playing its part in this accident.
Well, you can roll a car in an empty field. Especially if there is a hidden divot.
The art of the characters was a nice addition. I like that you can see the fan art of "previous" Dusk still in this new one.
Poor Dusk can't catch a break from those labs...
The more she tries to get away from them, the more she gets pulled back in...
Happy to see Dusk and Elliot back!
I think Elliot's arm was broken from fighting with the glass shards. There was a message that scrolled by when Dusk was using one said it was cutting your hand.
Yeah, it inflicts more damage on the wielder usually. Just like the saw blades.

Hey I'm absolutely loving it. The lore is great and the abilities are really nicely balanced especially with how dangerous I've made the world this time round. Really appreciate the work that you've put in and I can't wait to discover more
@@ryconplaysThank you so much!
I have to get watching faster so I can catch up. Only 214 Dusk videos to go before I get here!
yessssss
can you use glass shards like throwing weapons? Ninja star style?
Before i get too invested in this, do you all recommend I start at the beginning of Dusk's story, or is it ok to pick up here?
I'll be doing a recap next week of all the CDDA series so far. It's a long stretch from the start but many here would say it's worth it. I'd say there's no wrong answer
Aw man. I though you're going back to innawoods, I got too excited.
No hope and changing the item spawns... brutal, just brutal. Iirc no hope already reduces item spawns.
In the mod description it recommended lowering them, I just went an extra step
just wondering how Rycon got those mutations on the gal fangs and fey eyes and long fingernails , was it dev commanded in or can you set this up on character creation
I did have to manually add them in. When I first made Dusk many seasons ago they were random mutations she started with as a unwilling mutant
Can we eventually get a recap video on each season of dusk cause i remember how hard it was to get through all those episodes and i always forget where i left off at its probably would be to hard with the episode count but there is no harm in asking
I would also like this. As much as I enjoy Rycon, I don't really feel like going through the whole series because of how massive it is
I'll work on that next week! Cdda recap!
@@ryconplays thanks exited to see it
@@ryconplays awesome to hear
Oh my god oh my god oh my god
Let's goooo I'm excited!
Lol this gave me an idea, that Dusk travelled through time, via natural lives, coming to the far future where she learnt the technology to harness and control portals to travel through time, and went back to create herself (and her brother), to repeat it. A bootstrap paradox story
HUGE!!!
Hey best way I can describe it in text is Kyo-Rah for the proper Maori pronouncation
Best wishes
I'm sure this was just storytelling, but @ 48:00 you mention ash could be from wood or bodies, but bodies and meat actually burn into corpse ash so you can know which is which.
True enough
