Sweet when you say "I don´t want to go back to California". I would love to go back to California but I would have to go back to Germany. I think California is the better choice of where to go back. But I agree with you, it is hard to leave the Maledives once you were there.

Both are magical! French Polynesia wins in my opinion because it is closer to California and accessible via direct flight (8 hours vs 40 hours). There is more geographical variation (mountains and waterfalls in addition to beautiful beaches). And easier to travel on a budget.

There is amazing surf depending on your location and the season!! Not exactly beginner friendly because many spots have shallow reef, but of course it all depends where you go (: definitely an ocean lover’s paradise!!
