As Sonoma State president and president of the board of directors, Dr Lee had no authority to commit Sonoma State to divest, sever academic ties with Israel, or any of the other things he promised. Further, it is ridiculous to posit that he was ignorant of the limits to his power. I just wonder 'WTF was he thinking?'
You really can’t use “CSU” and leadership in the same sentence. Neither the Chancellors nor the campus presidents are responsive to very real concerns of faculty and students and it nearly always makes very flawed decisions. The toxic culture is striking and endemic. It’s sad.

If the Palestinians are right he's a coward for only doing this when forced to by protestors. If the Israelis are right he's a coward for giving in to the protestors. Either way he is a coward.
