I guess because it is the maximum speed this router can withdraw wirelessly for more you need to have a LAN cable I am also using it and gives 150 wirelessly and 306 directly (my connection is 300). It depends upon distance from first router too I guess. After reading your comment.

It’s crazy. I used to get up to 150mbps on 2.4 ghz 802.11n a few years ago and that was an old Netcomm/Huawei NF4V. Now I use wifi analyser and see at least 14 other routers nearby and the connection normally 80mbps or less.

yes you can connect this router to your current router .. but note one thing if you are going to connect directly to fiber cable then a big no u can connect this with only rj45 cable (lan wire)

both are equivalent in terms of performance I will only prefer tp-link on the basis of the tether -app that is so hassle-free now it's your own choice .
