What is not to love about soldiers riding dinosaurs in space.
When I was a kid I saw the photo of the trooper riding the dew back in the novelisation/before I saw the movie. So I thought it was a *robot* riding a dinosaur. Which blew my little mind. Because it's impossible to be any cooler than that...
I’ll take the shelves out of my detolf and put it on its side, make a sort of glass tunnel display case, throw some sand bases in there for a diorama, and Owen’s your uncle, a Dewback Detolf!
Lotta people were saying it was smaller than the Sideshow one but seems a touch bigger according to the dimensions. Super nerdy but I love the stunt trooper helmets with the asymmetry and higher 'monobrow'.
Definitely getting it (the Deluxe version). Not sure where I will put it. I suppose I can get rid of my bed and sleep on the couch....😂
The orange pauldron Sandtrooper is the same one they already released in 2014-15. It’s the same markings and everything. But yes a reissue would be cool.
The one with the orange pauldron is the original one from 2015 and he was the first one to have the sand print stand

Just the trooper for me,although if space wasn't an issue I'd definitely get the set.

Yes, the tail will fit in a Detolf😂.. Going to be a while for this one but that's a good thing. I have plenty of time to pay it off lol
btw the scales on the face even around the mouth and eyes are accurate...like scale by scale...the question is how does Hot Toys do that...there are instruments that translate from photos into a 3D relief...i find it hard to believe an artist actually sculpted each scale with that degree of accuracy?

I don’t know I think this version is way better than the sideshow version, the scales, paint job, the sculpt everything looks way better
i never had the Kenner one as a kid 🥺 and even though i'm not a big hot toys collector (although i have maybe 30 figures mint in box) this is a landmark set and a definitive Dewback and in a way it's as iconic as Darth Vader in defining the original world of Star Wars, so i'll probably bite the bullet on this one or at least for sure the sand trooper
I’m excited as much as you because I remember the Sideshow version and I missed it. I want two as well but no space for two or budget! But two would definitely look better with two extra troopers along side walking as well!!!!

I think there is a possibility we get either a reissue or new updated version of the old Hot Toys Sandtrooper they already did. That’s the other one in the promo photos.
Already ordered a 2 pack and stand alone trooper. Gonna order another Dewback later.
The first D1 preorder for me in a looong time (not from SSC though). I may have to order the Trooper and Dewback as well and hunt down either the HT or SS versions of the orange and black pauldron troopers.

We need Luke and Han with Tauntauns sets and tusken raider with Bantha set.
Not being able to buy the heavy clone and Appo separately is super infuriating
The best thing is that the trooper comes with the “droid dropping” he found that let the empire know to chase droids. “Look sir, droids”.
So my hopes and wishes came to an satisfying end. Next goal: Hot Toys Tauntaun with Han and / or Luke in Hoth Outfit. Like the Sideshow Dewback, the Sideshow Tauntaun is only available at high cost and also there is room for possible improvements.
You missed the swap out mouth shut jaw piece. An even better way to differentiate the 2 ! Check the pic of the 2 Dewbacks you had.

I'll probably get the Dewback and Sand Trooper Sergeant two-pack. It comes with an extra leg and open-mouth. Thinking of getting two -- space is the major factor.

As much as I LOVE this, the mane really irks me and kinda takes the shine off the figure. I know it's accurate (to a degree), but if you're like me you don't remember Dewbacks having a fur mane - they were just big reptiles. I see it in photos of the original props now but it seems that HT have really accentuated it and it's the one feature that looks fake to me, like they've created this lovely hyper-detailed scaled creature and then slapped a big chuck of faux fur on it.

Not just the front leg but the jaw is also interchangeable (on the deluxe version).
Wouldn't that just be hinged? And there's a deluxe? Or do you mean the 2 pack?
@@halfvader8015 No, there are two versions of the dewback. The deluxe one comes with the interchangeable front leg as well as an interchangeable jaw, so you can have his mouth either open or closed.
@@daniel_sc1024 Thanks, just couldn't see anything about the jaw in the photos. And to be frank, why would you not just hinge it instead of the cost of a whole other piece? The leg I get, but the jaw is bizarre. Anyway thanks again.

If you really want this, I recommend pre-ordering it. The new trend this year seems to be limiting production batches so distributors aren't sitting on unsold stock, which forces them to offer discounts. Examples of this are the clone wars speeder bikes, POs sold out after a month or two, Cad Bane, Clone Trooper, Clone Pilot, etc. etc. The new Scout Trooper Commander is listed as "low stock remaining" and it's not even released yet...

When the Empire landed on Tatooine was there like a taxi rank that hired out dewbacks, or did they bring them with them just in case? Tickles me to think the Empire haggling over price and availability.

I have the sideshow version of the dewback and it's the prize of my collection. This looks good but will be a pass for me.
Absolutely. Even though the HT one has more fine detailing (and all the removable bits that aren't totally sculpted), I like the design of the SS one more. Not to mention that one's hollow resin or something along those lines, plus the giant sand base that this one's lacking. Could be wrong in this not be made out of lightweight plastic - cause the price certainly doesn't seem like it is.

I have to pass on this. No way I would spend that much and have a figure with exposed joints.
