Hi great build love watching your videos. This is off subject from the video but I'm just curious what petrol tank that is your using. I'm having trouble finding one that fits proper and your seems to fit the frame rather well.
how much do you think it would cost to have a box welded together? i could rivet it in afterwards i just don't have a welder, any help is much appreciated
If you find a decent welder or a friend that can weld, anything from £20 - £50 I would have thought, but depends if you need it welding, this tray was all riveted together.
Hey mate, awesome job, love what you do. One quick question, when you installed the lithium battery did you have to buy any specific one, did you change any charging system or simply just swapped? Building a CB250, and some mentioned that lithium batteries charge different and you can't just swap them for your normal one. Thanks
I am the Greatest If you check out these ones, Ballistic Evo 2 8 cell, not as expensive as Antigravity but similar size. www.ballisticparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=425
Dude great work on the electrics trays! Looking sweet!
Moto Matt OnComics Thank you, it's at that point now where I want to get everything done at once but it's fun.
That looks great man! Nice job!.....but your mom called and she want her sweater back.
She can't I'm cold
Hey Clint, it looks just like the sweater YOUR MOM gave me~
Hey, great videos! I'm currently building a couple café bikes myself and enjoy seeing your ideas
Lance Rogers Thanks for the positive words.
good job and nice one for putting a blog up, im currently doing an 81 us import gs550 cafe. some good ideas here. thanks
+andybrad690 Good luck with your build
Really helpful video, thanks. How many places did you rivet the tray on?
+Peter Sutton thanks. I riveted it at any weak spot for the tray. About 4 each side. But might have been excessive. I now weld in the new video.
Great vids! Did you need to mod out anything on the charging end to use the Li-ion battery?
No, so far all good as plug and play, and assured by Ballistic also.
What size of metal are you using.
1mm

Mine is the original that came with the bike, but with the sides beaten in and sanded smooth.

dreegez oh wow thanks for responding! i really admire you for posting this video and helping me out:)
what material did you use for the tabs you welded on for the seat to attach to?
Just normal steel for these 2mm thick.
genius man....
Thumbs up for that comment, but you should see the number of mistakes!

What Ballistic say is anything pre 1980 will need to be upgraded to a newer system. Hope that helps.
What's the thickness of the seat bracket steel please
+Louis Emina The brackets set for the seat are 3mm, the steel pan for the electrics is 1mm.
where do you get the lithium battery from?

great, thanks!
What about side panels ???
Personally I don't like side panels on a cafe racer, an extra weight really. But everyone is different.
looks good !
Thank you
Your Welcome...i bought a bmw k75 rt...and your video
help me a lot ! How long did you work on your bike ??
I'm still working on it now to be honest, but I only spend a few hours per weekend. That's over a year.
ahh ok...you grow with your projekt ??
I wish I had more time to work on my bike, I think if I did it full time it would only take me 2 weeks, but it's finding time inbetween workand life.
why use river instead of welding
I like the finish and look of rivets, and it's a quicker job for me.
Just push them through the yokes
Could do, but the GS550 forks are really long so even with pushing them through you'll need to shorten them internally.
great videos. really helpful
+Get Off My Soil Thank you.
how thick is the steel plate you are using for the tray???
+Get Off My Soil it's 1mm thick, mild steel, so it's pretty easy to bend, but rigid when fixed in place.
