Man, Will’s face when he has to put down Sam...that’s when I cried. The dog’s death was sad enough but they make you watch the owner do his best to keep it together while you hear it happening. Will Smith’s acting was incredible in this movie.
This movie has an alternate ending where Will's character open the glass door and let the "healing zombie" go with her horde... so the horde let Will live and leave safely with the mom and her son
In the old movie , the last man on earth , the man had a little hand pump and hooked himself up to the dog. Laid on the couch all night pump ing his blood into the dog and back into him since he is immuned and he saved the dog so it was dumb in this version they let Sam die .
Nashit Shafiq 3 of the actors from TWD are in The Mist. I think they’d love seeing them in it. Plus Darabount is the one who originally developed TWD for tv.
I know the dog is sad, but I have three cane corso's I love them to death. But I know that each one of them would lay down there life form my family especially my kids. It's in their natural thats the beauty of a dogs love . 😥😥
I prefer the alternative ending. Not only is it happier, but imo it also makes more sense and justifies the title of the movie. (I mean, basically he is a monster to the Zombies; experimenting, killing, abducting...)
I remember watching this in the cinema in 2007 and the dog's death scene broke me. 13 years later and it's still one of the most depressing scenes from a movie
The alternate ending is so much better, I suggest you check it out. He doesn’t die in that one and we as the audience see things from the Vampires misunderstood perspective; Will Smith’s character is the boogeyman kidnapping their people and experimenting on them/kill them.
"I Am Legend" is a great short book by Richard Matheson. It's been adapted twice before this version. "The Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price and "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston. IMO both are far better than this version. Neither of those have dogs that die in them. :-)
@@KellyParks this relied far too much on pointless jump scares and the manipulative arc of the dog. Even though this one kept the name, I think the first film with Price was closest to the book.
I remember watching this as a kid and getting nightmares for 2 weeks, I had no idea whether they were zombies or vampires or god knows what but they haunted me never the less.

The one he caught is the main guy's squeeze. Alice Braga is beautiful. The part that gets me more than having to kill his best friend and some kind of grasp of sanity he tries to reconnect to something that he lost thru the mannequin. Cried my eyes out. Well done Will Smith

The alternative ending is wayyy better. In that ending he let's the monster dude in and he's just after his wife on the table so he unties her and wakes her up. Then the monsters all leave and will realises he was the bad guy in this movie lol
Wish you two watched the Director's Cut, the ending is totally different! This ending throws out all the slow build-up for a quick "hero saves the day" ending instead of the one in the book...
I thought it was the main zombie getting back at Will Smith for abducting his zombie gf. The zombie used the same snare trap on Smith that Smith used to catch his zombie gf.
Consider the movie Blast From The Past. I watched it for a quarantine night in and I really enjoyed it and cracked up most of the movie. It’s an oldie but sooooo fitting.

The interesting thing is Will's character isn't the protagonist, he's the antagonist, it's just the way the movie goes out of it's way to frame him as a hero, only to reveal that he's a monster, with the alt original ending going like this, as the Dark Seekers corner Neville, Anna, and Ethan behind the Plexiglas, the Alpha Male shoves others out of his way and tries to break through the door. Neville shouts for him to stop, but the Alpha Male doesn't listen to him. Eventually, the Alpha Male stops on his own and uses his hand to smear the shape of a butterfly on the door. Neville sees it, and then sees the butterfly tattoo on the Alpha Female's shoulder, he realizes that he just wants his girl back. Neville puts his pistol on the floor and unhooks the Alpha Female from his equipment. Anna asks him what he's doing, and Neville says that he's listening. He asks Anna to open the door. She grabs his pistol off the floor and reluctantly opens the door. Neville wheels the Alpha Female out into the lab, where the Alpha Male stands behind him and then growls next to his head. Anna closes the door and stays behind with Ethan. Neville tells the Alpha Male that he needs to get a syringe and slowly walks towards a drawer. Dark Seekers surround Neville and are ready to attack him, but the Alpha Male keeps them at bay. Neville gets the syringe he needs and injects the Alpha Female in the arm, waking her up. The Alpha Female hisses in delight upon seeing the Alpha Male, who tenderly presses their foreheads together. Neville is shocked that they feel love. The Alpha Male picks up his girl, screeches at Neville, and then leaves with the other Dark Seekers. Neville drops to the floor and looks at the wall of pictures he has of the Dark Seekers he's killed over the years, realising that they have all been capable of thinking and feeling. The next day, Neville drives past the lion family he came across near the beginning when he was hunting the deer. Neville, Anna, and Ethan drive out of the city on the Washington Bridge. The film ends with Anna broadcasting a message to other possible survivors. She says that she's travelling with Robert Neville and a boy named Ethan. She says that they have a cure for the virus and are heading towards Vermont. She urges anyone who's listening to have faith and continue to listen for their future broadcasts.

Lost my pooch a little over a year after I saw this flick and I still can't bring myself to watch it again. Good movie but I'm too much of a wimp when it comes to seeing pooches and kids in pain, even if it's only pretend. I'm enjoying your Breaking Bad reactions. You're both funny and adorable. These aren’t zombies they are vampires in the books they have much more of a civil world like it’s actually established but all vampires but the movies portrays it a bit different
His mind was going, being alone for so long, think about it, the man was talking to mannequins. Plus it was never discovered the infected ppl could think, only impression they'd given was rage. I like the dog too but damn you guys show more sympathy toward the dog than the human being 😂
The alternate cut with the alternate ending is considered the better version. Will smith character lives and sees that the darkseekers are capable of rational thought. And that they are actually there to rescue the female darkseeker. He let's her go and realises that to them he is the boogeyman who has been kidnapping them and killing them with his experiments. And her blood is not the cure it's the method of his procedure that can cure the darkseekers. This for some reason tested poorly in private screenings so the changed it to the theatrical one you saw. Only to find that the private screening testing was not helpful because the majority of the audience hated the theatrical ending and loved the alternate ending much better.
Will Smith delivered this character perfectly in this movie in the dog too by far my favorite Will Smith movie in a long time when this came out at the time I saw it in theaters was really cool
I have a recommendation for a movie that needs more love. "A monster calls." Im not gonna give a plot description but you can check out the trailer if you like. I will only recommend a box of tissues and assure you that its a wonderful film. Its not a horror movie so dont worry about monster being in the title. Also they fucked up the ending in i am legend. In the novel and the original ending they shot will smith's character realizes the monsters are actually intelligent. Thats the reason for the trap and the mannequin being in the street. Instead of pulling that cliche self sacrifice he let the monsters retrieve the person he was experimenting on and went to the fort with the other two. The point of the title is that he realized he is the legend of their monsters stories. Hes the monster not those creatures.
Maybe react to the movie Logan (2017) next? Sorry its just a suggestion, u will absolutely gonna love it. U are that "cute but deadly" type meaning u can watch the violence in john wick's movie with such ease so you can handle this with ease too😂😂😂 "maybe" you will cry even though there is no dog death involved..
Kinda missed the whole point with the mannequins, he saw them as people, and thought that it had moved itself. He had no way of knowing, the zombies were intelligent enough to copy his own trap.
