I saw him 1991? in Stuttgart/Germany in a very small concert hall, or better said: a bigger pub, LKA-Longhorn. After I understood, why people named him Eric Bourbon.
While I believe this song expresses genuine regret (unlike many of the comments here), I think we learn more from our mistakes than we do from many of the good times. It’s the basis for wisdom that we older folks have, even if that wisdom isn’t appreciated as much these days.
