I believe having drapes will pull the entire room together. It will also prevent the chateau from looking like a show room and make it feel like a home.
Drapes are needed or window treatments in most of the rooms. If you are already doing windows please pardon my commenting. As lovely as it is to have big windows…especially in bedrooms, people feel comfortable and safe with curtains drawn at night. Also during the heat of summer closed curtains, drapes, shades, shutters will help keep rooms cool! In winter these will certainly help keep the room temperature warmer! …and cozier! You might consider a small electric kettle on a tray having 1 or 2 tea cups or mugs…water containers …tea and sugar packets…and individual containers of milk. Small individual packets of biscuits/cookies and/or individually wrapped chocolates. Placed on a small table or on one side of the desk or dresser, will delight your guests. I realize it is a bit more work but your guests will very much appreciate the effort made. Each bedroom in my B & B had these amenities…just another way of letting your guests know they are appreciated 🌸 …the extras could be kept in a hallway dresser draw where each bedroom would have the essentials to replace. A fire extinguisher on each floor and an overhead fire alarm in each bedroom/hallway?! A Carbon Monoxide Detector on each floor. A Security System ( there a many types). A Gas Leak Monitor; Air quality Monitor…last but not least a Smart Water Leak Detector. (Should you need more info. I’ll be there happy to email these to you.)
Your daughter has a great eye! That brass swan table was fantastic! That swan table, coupled with a swan mural on an accent wall in one of your great rooms, would be a showpiece. It will also tie in with the beautiful fountain you’re installing outside. A room like that, with a view like that, will inspire a great deal of creativity. She’s also right about the drapes. The windows need them. They’ll also help keep the rooms warm during the winter. The long hallway wall on the third floor is screaming for a large mural, matching floor runner, and accompanying chandeliers. Brass wall sconces and brass candle holders will add to the romantic charm in those bedrooms as well. Everything is coming along nicely. I’m so excited for you. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. ❤
I get such as kick out of Chloe. She always manages to get into the picture somewhere. What a great life she has. Your home is looking beautiful. Enjoyed the tour.
Yes to that! Otherwise guest will put their luggage on the bed which is ok if it comes out of someone’s clean house. But you never know what those suitcases pick up on streets and in airports.
I know curtains are an investment but they provide insulation and noise dampening . You could do neutral solid color with a lining or do a double layer . They don't have to be brocades and silks with tassels 😉❣️❣️❣️
Your daughter is so adorable! I think you should give her one room that she gets to put curtains in and style it with paint or wall paper of her choosing. Everything you have done is very lovely. Your guests are going to enjoy your chateau and talk about it forever. As always having your children with you always puts an extra happiness for me as I am sure it does for you!
So great to see you just hanging with your kids......GREAT PROGRESS on all the bedrooms! Just a few tweeks but the major pieces are in place! I love the junky outdoor market.....could spend hours there and thousands as well.....such a joy! Kitchen and dining rooms with all the new cabinetry.....perfect, just perfect! The dining room chairs would be wonderful in a washable velvet of peacock blue......love peacocks like Olivia! The new fountain.....it will be your gathering place when outdoors.....lots of tea, wine and nibbles will happen there.....and the sound of a fountain.....just so soothing.....be sure to leave your window open at high! Coming together so well and all your hard work and sleepless night are paying off! Well done, indeed! Olivia is so graceful and lovely, she must have studied ballet at one time or currently is still studying.....she just twirls and floats along the corridors of the chateau....charming. I do love the music in your videos.........very intentionally chosen. Nice. Cheers!
Bien sûr qu'il faut des rideaux ! L'hiver va bientôt venir, cela aidera à garder la chaleur dans les pièces. Ce château commence à être magnifique ! bravo !
You have made a huge amount of progress-the kitchen is my favorite part I think. If you don’t want drapes don’t do them, it’s your house. You have so many rooms to deal with, when it all settles down you can always add them later if you change your mind. I glad you said no to the swan table although Olivia is adorable and has a quirky personality. I hope you have more help coming-there still seems to be so much work left to do before your retreat. I hope it is a huge success!❤️❤️
The metal bedhead in the second broconte was stunning. I'm with Olivia on the peacock wallpaper in the dinning room. It will look lovely with all those glues and greens. Sorry but you need curtains. They will give the opulent look of a chateau while keeping it cozzie. They will also help with the seasons. Blocking out the strong sun in summer and blocking out the cold in winter. Light in kitchen could be an older style lampshade. Or the kind where there is 4 long glass sheets in a cube shape. Sorry no idea what those ones are called. I've scene them on different Chateau vlogs. Something like what you have but more old. A simple lampshade is easy to clean for a kitchen. Olivia's idea's for the wallpapers are spot on. The room you're going to wallpaper with the blue wallpaper that has lemons on it. I'd paint the slopped roof with the background blue/grey colour and paper all the straight walls. I can see a use for the mirror that isn't reflecting if you want. You could use as the centre of a folding screen that could sit in one of the rooms with 2 beds so shy people could change behind it. overything is looking good
❤ Wow the Chateau has come a long way from the first day u first stepped inside the gorgeous place 💖 . One thing I've loved about this Chateau is the light in the rooms every room is light and airy . It's been a massive task painting, getting a new kitchen in , cleaning up the Gardens , Bathrooms , and u still not done but looking at what's done u over the halfway line and it looking lovely . Curtains are the last thing on the list once a room done , I love the Shutters and cast balustrade s outside . Oliva funny 😂 ❤ she pretty cool , that swan table is gorgeous ❤. Hello Chloe 🎨🦉🦔🧜♀️
Hi Abby. Looking nice I think some of Olivia's ideas are really good. Just remember you aren't in Seattle any more some of the rooms should surprise and be a little wild.
Olivia is amazing and has some wonderful ideas...she is a real breath of fresh air. I have 2 daughters and they are such a gift. Your children are so lovely! I agree that the green and yellow room is sort of...not the best...The chandelier and the molding is the only really nice thing in the room...lol! All the rooms that you have painted and done look fantastic!!!!! The kitchen belongs in a magazine! Your chateau looks so beautiful....you have done so much!! Well done and am so happy for you as you and all of your volunteers and workers have worked so hard to get to this point!! 👏🇨🇦
It was fun getting to meet your children. Olivia is loving helping you decorate. And I vote "yes" for the swan table. I love seeing a mix of old and new so it doesn't feel like I'm stepping into a stage set. I'd love to see some of your more modern paintings in the the chateau. I think you have the right eye to mix it up tastefully.
This tour of the house was great. We can see all the progress with the renos. It's going to be beautiful. Those beds and pieces of furniture looks good in that house. If you can find some fabric to recover the dining room chairs its going to fit better.
Hi Abby, loving all the changes. I love everything… especially the green rooms. So nice that you were able to have Olivia and Carter with you. Happy Birthday to you and Carter. Stay well.
You should be so proud of yourself and everyone who has had a hand in restoring the beauty of the Chateau. I heard someone say once, “drapes are like earrings, they complete the look”. They also help with keeping the cold and sound out. I don’t know if it is possible but when you replace the carpet on the third floor maybe you could add thicker padding underneath to help muffle the creaky floor. The noise might be disturbing to your guests as they sleep.
Olivia has a good eye. Don't worry about window treatments. You can do that later but you do need them in the bedrooms even if you don't have them in the common rooms.
Can't believe what a transformation of the chateau since day 1, so beautiful and yes we like to see everything even if it's not finished, I love these videos, love seeing you children and Chloe, God Bless
What a sweet and beautiful daughter, you have, Abby. She seems to be very well adjusted and happy. Given the tragic circumstances you experienced on 9-11; my hats off to you for keeping “your ship afloat” and building the successful lives it appears you and your kids have today. Watching from PA, USA.
Two new words for me...boobalicious and chandelier station!!! All delivered in that understated soft tonal voice. Loving the warmth you bring to your videos. Keep up the great work.
Wow, had no idea people have such strong opinions about curtains. I think it looks lovely without curtains. You see the shape of the windows which is lovely. You'r ve done a brilliant job with your beautiful chateau. I enjoy going through the brocantes. Great haul again this week. My sister in law and I hope to stay at your chateau some day.
I agree about curtains. But guests will probably like curtains for privacy. Some rooms may need some to muffle an echo. If you have drafty rooms, curtains might help keep the cold out and lower heating costs.
The attic rooms have so many features with beams windows trim…just paint nicely and maybe a single accent wall in wallpaper. I would say some simple pieces as the bed is so wonderful…any bamboo pieces would add so much texture. Paneling on the hall walls to chair rail height…I would ask Anna for decor help from “How to renovate a Chateau with killing your partner” she’s got so many great ideas and style! It is very exciting watching the lovely warmth you and yours are bringing! Thank you for taking us along…
As someone coming to the retreat soon, I had so much fun seeing the preparations! I don't really have any opinion about window dressings, but that espresso maker was a thing of beauty. :)
I would love to see curtains at the windows, they do 'finish' a room plus in the winter they make the rooms look and feel warmer, though as the saying goes 'you do you'. Great video and i love the tour xx
I'm amazed at how much you have gotten done so far in such a short time! Everything is coming along very well. I will keep quiet about the curtain controversary, since I am not a 'drapery' person, but like Semi-Sheers, linens , valences and cloth folding shades are pretty! I'm sure in time, you'll figure it all out! 1 mirror per room is plenty!
Hi Abby First of I wasn't going to comment, because I know the amount of hard work you put into anything you do but here I am, was totally amazed and blown away at the amount of work that's been done. Re curtains I agree with both you and Olivia but on saying that big drape curtains would look too heavy for the rooms, block out the light, sheer lace (or antique) would look beautiful and still get the light. Olivia is right on some of the changes in the rooms all about balance and colour she's very much her mother's daughter got the eye for it. And you're right about the candles they need to be bigger for the fireplace. Abby just remember even though people offer advice and comment and come up with good idea's this is your home and your business even though you have put it on the world stage. This is who you are and what you are good at, this is your home please remember this. Love touring the Antique shops with you. Wishing you all the best will keep watching Love, love, love it all the way from New Zealand
Wow! You’ve done so much. The rooms look so pretty and the plans for wallpaper, etc is awesome. You have a lovely daughter and son. Wonderful Brocante purchases too ❤
Wow! The rooms are really coming together. They look great! Thanks for the tour. Olivia makes me laugh 😂. Thank you. Love sightseeing & shopping with you. Take care. ❤️
WOW! Loved the tour! You do need curtains on the ground floor, and perhaps some kind of blind treatments upstairs. When is the first retreat happening? Don't forget the smoke detectors. So much progress has been made...it is really taking shape!!
Hi Abby, Besides watching the renovations in the chateau,Brocante shopping is my favourite also,I just love everything you buy Abby ,you have excellent taste ! So happy you had a great time with your gorgeous family & friends ! You don’t have to have curtains Abby, what would look lovely in the bedrooms are floaty white nets ! Take care 🥰💕
Yes to curtains if done properly and allows the light. I can feel your joy having your kids there. It is always hard to see them go, but to know they are doing well makes us proud of them. You got so many beautiful things at the brocantes. Everything is falling into place now. That fountain will be awesome. ❤
Yes Olivia to drapes...perhaps airy sheers. They always look lovely blowing in the breeze and filter heat and give privacy. Loved that swan table...just sayin' Please paint the green and yellow room white...yes, yes, yes! Love the peacock wallpaper, vision for the dining room. The bedrooms all look wonderful. Salut from Canada 🇨🇦
Enjoyed this video 💕 Love your daughter…. She’s outgoing and fun ! The BF. Is handsome ! Tour was great …. So many changes … 🥰 Yes. You need drapes … soften the rooms and will add opulence! 😊❤
Totally agree with your daughter. Even if you're not a curtain girl, the chateau is.😊
I salute you in everything you have done, your passion and dedication has never wavered. Very well done it’s beautiful.
yes to Olivia's suggestions!!! I see the vision!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Pretty much every room is crying out for window dressing. Completes a room. And its fun choosing materials 😊 your daughter is 100% right.
I love the xtra layering curtains add to a room. ❤♥️🇿🇦
I believe having drapes will pull the entire room together. It will also prevent the chateau from looking like a show room and make it feel like a home.
I agree!

Air quality Monitor…last but not least
a Smart Water Leak Detector. (Should you need more info. I’ll be there happy to email these to you.)
Wow, Rosita, you really have the information needed! Good advise.
You may not be a curtain girl, but honestly girl, it looks just plain unfinished with no curtains! A Chateau definitely needs opulent curtains! 😊
Agreed. It’s such a stunning home. Opulent drapes would add that wow factor.
I agree. Unfinished, too modern.
I like it without curtains
Agree needs curtains
The rooms all look pretty!
Your daughter has a great eye! That brass swan table was fantastic! That swan table, coupled with a swan mural on an accent wall in one of your great rooms, would be a showpiece. That was a charming episode, so nice to spend time with family, the chateau is coming on very well 😊
I get such as kick out of Chloe. She always manages to get into the picture somewhere. What a great life she has. Your home is looking beautiful. Enjoyed the tour.
She’s like a Where’s Waldo! 😂
Thank you for the tour! There are so many bedrooms! Great to see your daughter coming back :)
You have completed an amazing amount of progress on the Chateau Abby. It is a pleasure watching you.
Its been tough at times but with help and determination keeping your head the plans for your future in France is looking fantastic . 👏👏
Wonderful brocante finds and tour with Olivia!! All is looking beautiful!! ☀️🌷😊
I absolutely love the upper level bedrooms. The choice of carpeting, wallpapers, and bed. I just love everything you've done up there.
Thank you so much!
I love those bedrooms and that hallway too. The antique beds she chose are gorgeous.
How fortunate you are to have so much good help. What a journey.
Wonderful video ❤ Maybe you could get folding suitcase stands for each room, like they have in hotels.
Yes to that! Otherwise guest will put their luggage on the bed which is ok if it comes out of someone’s clean house. But you never know what those suitcases pick up on streets and in airports.
I'd definitely have curtains in some of the rooms downstairs or maybe some chiffon curtains for an airy romantic feel
I know curtains are an investment but they provide insulation and noise dampening . You could do neutral solid color with a lining or do a double layer . They don't have to be brocades and silks with tassels 😉❣️❣️❣️
Absolutely amazing PROGRESS! It isn’t “work” when you able to be in these beautiful surroundings!👍🏻🇨🇦♥️ Great to have your Kids Visiting You!!!
Once curtains up it will looks amazing 😊 lot of progress 💪👍
Jacket is fabulous!
Thank you for this tour. I've been waiting for this 🤗🥰

Those are some squeaky floors, but love all the progress being made! Just beautiful! Your daughter is so fun!
Bien sûr qu'il faut des rideaux ! L'hiver va bientôt venir, cela aidera à garder la chaleur dans les pièces. Ce château commence à être magnifique ! bravo !
100% agree with Olivia. On curtains, on dining room, on everything.
Wonderful, loved watching. Olivia is just a sweetheart. She is so beautiful, just like her mom.

Olivia is correct about the curtains and her ideas. Curtains bring warmth as well as what everyone else is saying in the comments.

Agree with all Olivia’s styling advice, she’s fabulous! Love the swan coffee table!!
I love it but not for Chateau
All that work is coming together! Looking good! Another vote for curtains also. Not every room has to have them.
I love the blue room!! So cheerful!!
Love love love it!!!
LOVE that YSL jacket!!🤩 Oh yeah, and your Chateau!💞
How fun it would be to say “I’m going to stay at my mom’s chateau in France” 😊. It looks amazing and I can’t wait to see the wallpaper installed
Olivia - what a personality! Everything is looking amazing! I love that you take us along shopping - it's never too much. Great video! ❤
Hi Abby. Looking nice I think some of Olivia's ideas are really good. Just remember you aren't in Seattle any more some of the rooms should surprise and be a little wild.
Sorry, I don’t understand, “remember you’re not in Seattle any more, some of the rooms should surprise and be a little wild.” ????
Loved the tour! Can’t wait to see it ready for the retreat. Curtains will be a lovely addition.
Olivia is amazing and has some wonderful ideas...she is a real breath of fresh air. I have 2 daughters and they are such a gift. Your children are so lovely! Yeah, its going to be a problem😰
Those third floor bedrooms are just darling! So cute!!
Looks so amazing , love following along and watching the progress .
I want some of those French beds :)
38:31 love the bird/ lemon wallpaper! Great character! 39:09
Such a beautiful Château 😍💕💕💕🕊️
You got some great things and it was nice to have the tour... you will miss them . ❤❤❤❤
Olivia has a good eye. Don't worry about window treatments. You can do that later but you do need them in the bedrooms even if you don't have them in the common rooms.
Its coming together beautifully!!❤
Impromptu tour fun! So many changes since last year. Kitchens are completely different!
Your cozy home is looking beautiful!
Oh nooo we need the swan table ! It's sooooo gorgeous ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I love it without curtains ☺️
I imagined seeing this small statue in your garden!! He'd be perfect! 24:13
Ein wunderschönes Video heute. Charmant und herzlich.
Olivia is a hoot! She’s so much fun and a beautiful young lady!
Fountain base looks great!
Right?! Haha! I can see both sides if the curtain debate! 😛
Amazed at how much you've accomplished! I wish I was there to wallpaper...I can't wait to see how they look!!!
I loved the tour! Progress is amazing!
A wonderful tour of your gorgeous home Abby. It's a real work of art and love.
Thank you so much!

I liked the jasmine green room!
I love your brocante finds! THe chairs are fabulous! and the jacket is cute!
So glad you got the ivory walking stick 💜
Loved the tour,Olivia is very entertaining.
Coming along so beautifully ☺️
As someone coming to the retreat soon, I had so much fun seeing the preparations! I don't really have any opinion about window dressings, but that espresso maker was a thing of beauty. :)
4:03 scent museum - interesting!
I would love to see curtains at the windows, they do 'finish' a room plus in the winter they make the rooms look and feel warmer, though as the saying goes 'you do you'. Great video and i love the tour xx
Everything is sooo different and absolutely beautiful. You’ve done so much! Just amazing
Amazing !
Thank you! Cheers!
I love the shopping, the tour of the chateau,it's amazing what difference from the beginning
The tour was amazing! I love going shopping in all the cool places. Everything with all the new things it will be awesome. Sad to see everyone going.
Hi Abby First of I wasn't going to comment, because I know the amount of hard work you put into anything you do but here I am, was totally amazed and blown away at the amount of work that's been done. Abby just remember even though people offer advice and comment and come up with good idea's this is your home and your business even though you have put it on the world stage. This is who you are and what you are good at, this is your home please remember this. Love touring the Antique shops with you.
Wishing you all the best will keep watching
Love, love, love it all the way from New Zealand
Thanks for the comment. I pluck the ideas I like and disregard the ones I don’t, generally speaking. 😜
Take care. ❤️
The room with blue bed is gorgeous. I really like the window and features and wallpaper…
WOW! Loved the tour! You do need curtains on the ground floor, and perhaps some kind of blind treatments upstairs. When is the first retreat happening? Don't forget the smoke detectors. So much progress has been made...it is really taking shape!!
Yes smoke detectors!
The mirror above the fireplace looks gorgeous!
Great video. I enjoyed the tour and the shopping. You have found more beautiful treasures. Blessings.

Curtains are definitely needed. Drapes too.
It’s great to see it coming along. Thanks for the tour.
I loved this longer video, please do more, I enjoy watching what you’ve been doing around the Chateau and out and about..
Yes to curtains if done properly and allows the light. I can feel your joy having your kids there. It is always hard to see them go, but to know they are doing well makes us proud of them.
You got so many beautiful things at the brocantes. Everything is falling into place now. That fountain will be awesome. ❤
Yes curtains, drapes everywhere!
I think a black iron chandelier would be beautiful in the kitchen. Offset that massive beam for the hood
Abby you missed a cute diving frog on the walk at the crazy bacant.
