I followed this in order to manage a server running on my second PC while I was off my LAN, on a trip. Came back to find my second PC locked and hit with a Ransomware attack, with all my files locked. I'd been running that PC for months before this with no issues at all, having certain ports forwarded and connections from friends. I'm only left to conclude that this tutorial (which I followed precisely) opens your computer up to massive vulnerability and should be avoided at all costs.
Came looking in the comments for something like this, was looking for a secure remote desktop method and yeah opening a bunch of unprotected ports on your router is asking for trouble unfortunately.
I was looking for the same, however, when I saw how many ports I have to open and how complicated it is I felt something is wrong. I'm glad I came across your feedback and I'm sorry you had to go through all this sh**

Hey, this was a really good video! It was straight to the point, accurate, and you also explained WHY! We are taking these steps which is crucial in learning any software! Far too often people post videos like this and just expect you to follow steps as shown. But doing things that way, if you're ever to encounter a problem, you won't understand whats going on. What would be great to build upon in this particular video is the security risks involved with opening the default port to the internet. I would to suggest to anyone doing so to use a VERY LONG PASSWORD! It won't be long before some random person or bot cracks that password while trying to test their hacking skills. Although I myself do not understand the security steps taken in other videos, there are other videos that suggest taking some "basic" security measures to help mitigate the risk. It took only 3 weeks for my password to be hacked and the asshole deleted some important stuff. Consider looking into security measures when using RDP. Otherwise GREAT video thanks man instant sub!
as I noted in a separate comment, this tutorial's lack of even mentioning a potential security risk led to my server PC getting hit with ransomware. I'll probably have to wipe the whole thing because of it, and this video didn't even take a second to mention anything related to security. I guess it's my fault I didn't go out of my way to check for security vulnerabilities when following a tutorial from a tech channel. At least it's a good reminder to never follow the tutorials from random indian guys on youtube.
vpn server is configured on router usually, but you can dedicate only your machine as well as for rdp by using UPnP if last is supported and switched on in the router settings.
I have followed all the instructions and I do not have a static IP address so I followed the instructions for this as well. Now, I want to access my PC from my iPhone using Remote Desktop Client but I can not configure it. Please help.
While Remote Desktop can be a convenient tool for accessing your PC remotely, it also opens up potential vulnerabilities that hackers may exploit. If you enable Remote Desktop without taking proper security measures, your computer may become a target for unauthorized access. Hackers can attempt to brute-force your password, exploit weaknesses in the system, or gain access through unsecured networks. Keep in mind! If you ENABLE your Remote Desktop hackers can easily exploit/access to your computer.
I followed step by step, have static ip for remote machine and static ip for tplink router and used dynamic dns and its NOT connecting, disabled windows firewall tried and tried its not working Any one had success????????

Hello Techy, I changed my home internet provider to ATT with the router (bgw320-500), could you show me how to setup for remote pc outside network, thank you
You must enable wol feature on Windows and in your bios also. Then forward the port 9 on your router. Use any sorta app or software in android or pc to reach your forwarded port. That's it. Be careful: configuring Wol as Wow is bit tricky and require a lot of knowledge of security and risk of doing these things. So do it carefully at your own risk! I am currently using Wol as Wow with teamviewer. I am able to boot my pc from my college using Wow and i am able to operate my pc using Teamviewer.
I would like to suggest that buy yourself a static ip only if you really need it. Otherwise stay away from it. It's not a toy. You can be a victim of cyber security attacks if you don't know how to handle port and ip safely. Good luck!
Assuming everything else is set up correctly, make sure you have "Configure Network Level Authentication" turned off in settings > remote desktop > advanced settings
That was very easy. I have a static IP address. How to setup with the help of Static IP? Note ISP has installed router. I use cable to connect the ISP router and TPlink router.

@@sami_got_vibesyeah it's a nightmare of getting something wrong! I have my mom in my house if something gets wrong I can make her power off and on the computer. But in your case it's too much difficulty.
The same way but if you can't set the IP to be static on the peer computer (the one you want to remote IN), you'll probably have to get the IP address each time. Sounds like a pain if you try to remote in but dont have access to it at the time.
For the love of god, please do not do this lol. Forwarding TCP ports these days is a definite no. If you really need remote access you're much better off forwarding UDP and self hosting a Wireguard server or using a any solution that relies on outbound connection like TeamViewer or Anydesk etc. Literally anything but this lol

If your router has a public static IP, there is no need to configure any no ip DDNS. You can simply access the remote desktop over the internet by using port forwarding.
