Quit fooling yourself, these teachings are universal and do not belong to anyone. These are not Rupert’s teachings, this information and knowledge can be found within each and every one of us. The Buddha has been preaching these very things for thousands of years, so has Jesus. And yet the church chose power, control, money and also religious dogma over true peace, freedom, and happiness. They chose to silence and manipulate anything that had to do with discovering the actual truth within ourselves, and did anything they could to eradicate this knowledge. It’s no wonder people turn to drugs and alcohol, when you cut off people from their true nature and source, for hundreds of years and for countless generations, this is what you get, suffering, greed, and ignorance at a mass scale. I blame the church, and I blame the science only model we have been brought up with at school, and the toxic individualistic society we live in that avoids the truth and divine nature of things at all costs. Just imagine how advanced this world could be, if people like Nikola Tesla would have. never been silenced, if people actually listened to the teachings of the Buddha, this world would be living in a state of higher consciousness and bliss.
This is such a blessing that I came across here. I have watched many of Rupert‘s videos. This one touched my very deeply. You all ask so beautiful questions. Thank you so much. I will surely come back to this.
I think that Ted will not be the same person he was before hearing the message of Rupert . It happened to me 4 years ago, and after that I can’t spend one single day without hearing or reading something from Rupert. It has turned into another kind of addition!
Thanks for interviewing Rupert who I've been learning from for two years now since a huge breakthrough into the no thing experience at the end of a fifth step (30 years in program). Would you know of any ongoing program community/conversations where the Direct Path Nonduality and 12 steps come together? Thanks
I certainly can. Paul Hedderman does a twice weekly zoom meeting that brings the 12 steps and non-duality together...every Tuesday and Thursday at 10.30am Pacific Time (1.30pm eastern/6.30pm UK time) zoom ID us04web.zoom.us/j/2994406179 (299 4406 179 (no passcode required)
GOD as I understand it is infinite, therefore I am part of God because God is part of everything, therefore He is part of me and my Higher Power is ‘higher’ than my collection of memories and experiences. My body mind relationship is learned through time whereas God has always been, always is and always will be and I am that.
Thanks for all the brilliant work Tom, the Idea of discussing openly all the repressed forbidden ideas is a very healthy one.... On this topic my experience is 'there is this alcoholic person, they have this illness which probably few apart from recovering alcoholic s understand that involves a deadly constellation: denial, an inability to tell the truth, no insight, self awareness into their problem, a fear of being real, a fear of dealing with reality, and throw in for some either ADHD or perfectionism/a very narrow window of tolerance to what they will accept. The brain is now not functioning after years of addiction..... there's probably only AA (that I know of) that can get them clean....the question of HP, spiritual connection versus human connection and living in a fellowship.... literally god knows!
Hi David, very cool videos! I was recently thinking about how to integrate the teachings of Bhagavan with the 12 steps, so these videos are a great resource. Hope we get to chat at some point! Cheers from Madrid.
Hi Evan, do you know Ramesh Balsekar? He was a devotee of Ramana Maharshi and then of Nisargadatta Maharaj. He then became a Realized Advaita teacher and had a western student named Wayne Liquorman who also became Realized under Ramesh. Wayne was a alcoholic and has been through the 12 steps himself and has a book connecting the 12 steps with Advaita. Look up "Wayne Liquorman the way of powerlessness: advaita and the 12 steps of recovery". It's a great book.
@@davidkim2005 Hi David, yes I know of Ramesh and Wayne, I watched his episode of HTWTW the other day, quite enjoyed it! I've been stealing 12 step concepts recently and integrating them with enquiry / surrender as best I can (although for me Bhagavan / Nisargadatta alone are always the ultimate authorities on spiritual practice). I actually used the 12 steps as my main sadhana before I went deep into enquiry / surrender. Will see if I can get a copy of Wanye's book, thanks for the recommendation!
I quit AA because so few people are spiritually awakened, which is the raison d'etre of the program. And it's so full of opinions I gave up trying to sort the wheat from the chaff. And I was a seeker before I was an alcoholic (not that I call myself that anymore). Tho' I must add that my spiritual mentor, who introduced me to Advaita, was a sober member... And for that I am forever grateful 🙏
People attending AA meetings share their experiences, strengths, and hopes in the best ways they are able. Same as you were. Opinions are bound to be rife. Somehow, through this openness in sharing in a non-judgmental atmosphere a great healing takes place for many, many people. People are in the process of awakening spiritually, just as you were. Lucky for you your mentor was still attending meetings. Glad you're forever grateful. . .
We learn we grow we understand we observe and become more aware and when it's time to let go we let go. But we never judge others only have compassion and love and understand where we once we're is where they are. And everyone is transformed at their own pace .
Step four, simply put, is an inventory, just like a business. This inventory are the wrongs we have done and what’s behind them, it is where we have falling short of love. We greatly missed the mark of love. This comes from our egoic mind. The separation from love or source or consciousness or the quantum field or awareness or god. We identify as separate, ego centricity, me vs you. Pride ridden, below the level of 200 as per Dr Hawkin’s map of consciousness. The ego is blind to itself and we, at some rate awaken to love. We are it (god) and it is us. We are in god and god is in us. The wind blows you feel me, the leaves rustle you hear, the scent in the air you smell me, look in the still water you see me. The ego world is the illusion, the maya
Analogy - if water is Spirit then Ice is Of a different form with Laws to go with IT. ITS essence IS Spirit (God) but it is a separation from pure water. It is now a limitation. Everything can be said to be God but also Relative to God. Spirit, God is not relative TO say a Universe --- IT is unlimited. A Universe is relative to The Absolute. Pure Existence cannot be created or destroyed.
It would also be nice if one of the AA members (Kaiser) studied the Big Book too and he will find that on page 55, it say that God is found deep inside ourselves....exactly what Rupert points to without even studying the Big Book.
If it wasn’t for the 12 step Alcoholics Anonymous programme my mothers and brother would be dead. That’s a fact. Now they are loving gets lives. ODAAT.
@@anthonyw1499 It must do or else everyone would know their true nature and not be identified as a separate person. Like Rupert says the infinite willingly takes the role of the finite
@@willowtaylor9827 yes Willow - most people do identify with their thoughts and feelings. However we can turn our attention away from objective experience to just remain as we are, as the ever present awareness of all subjectivity. Hope that makes sense.
HI Willow. In my own experience, the "observer" can go unnoticed, because thoughts and feelings are much more loud, visceral or remarkable in some way. Awareness (Consciousness) (which you could call the observer, but it's just a term to point to that which is aware of thoughts and feelings), is much more subtle than thoughts, feelings, etc. So, it sits as the backdrop until something cause it te be noticed. For some it is never noticed. And thoughts and feelings are grabbed instantaneously as they arise, identified with, and followed without notice or question. For others, some thoughts can be seen, while others are habitually followed. It all comes down to awareness. We are all Awareness itslef, seeing through various viewpoints. However, the difference is in whether you are aware that you are aware. When you are aware that you are aware, Awareness becomes the forefront, and thoughts and feelings sink into the backdrop. And you become grounded in your essential Self, are free from habitual, conditioning driven behavior, because thoughts and feelings are now seen through, rather than instantly grabbed and blindly followed. To answer your question more directly, the observer does seem to identify with thoughts and feelings for a time. And eventually remembers itself and awakes from identifying, through each form (us individual beings), one by one. Like the cells of your body realizing they are you.
@@ToniAnnBarandon good explanation but I would disagree on one point. The observer is completely impartial and never identifies with anything that happens. That empty space of awareness is completely unmoved and unaffected by any experience no matter how euphoric or traumatic. And it is this silent witness that is the substratum on which all subjective experience manifests. Spirituality is really about recognising your essence identity as this primordial awareness which is universal and the source of all. Just as space allows all planets and stars to exist it is never affected by anything that happens within it. Awareness is very much the same except this is the inner dimension of consciousness, completely detached, completely impartial, completely unaffected by anything that manifests within it including thoughts.
At 52:23 is a good question because IF you feel and or think YOU are God coming from The ego this is a mistake. Good Orderly Directive is NOT chaos. Waves, Storms, Ripples are activities Of the mind. Spirit is of our essence. GOD. BEING. Pure Existence. Relative existence is of our Journey. IT is human created (Co created) IT belongs to the Separation part of us! It is an extension Of a Principle. IT is like Honesty going into Dishonesty. As long as Principle (horse) is first and mind or the 'cart' is Second then it is an orderly directive. Pure Existence Order can exist in chaos. However pure chaps cannot exist in Order!
