Yes, bases that exist with the FULL support of the populations of those countries, to protect them as well as the United States against the threat posed by a vicious dictatorship that cares nothing for the lives and happiness of its own citizens, let alone anyone else. The peoples of Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Australia and others are united in their distrust of the government in Beijing (this has NOTHING to do with the Chinese people as a whole) and their support for the armed forces of the United States.

Unfortunately President Carter will go down in history as the second worst President behind Biden in my lifetime. The Iranian hostage happen on his watch in late 1979 and lasted through all of 1980 until Reagan took office in January of 1981. With the failed hostage rescue attempt in 1980 when we lost two helicopters and service men in the desert, it was a great embarrassment at the time. American morale was at an all time low during that time, not to mention the Prime Lending Rate was at or near 21%. And finally, he foolishly sold the Panama Canal to Panama for $1. His Middle East peace agreement between Israel and Egypt was commendable but that’s about it. President Carter was a great human being, unfortunately he was a terrible President.

@3:04 general Keane is talking about a term called "Distance Advantage". @ 1000 miles, the Chinese supply lines are significantly shorter while we will rely rely on what supplies we brought with us. They will have huge numbers of aircraft from land bases while we have carrier based aircraft.
USA and China should work together as allies to better mankind rather than calling each other threats and working against each other.
